Relationship Note on Giulio

Of late, I find myself looking through my notes, of the journeys and accomplishments the Mirrorguard has made. During this time, some two years ago, the Mirrorguard were ranging all over the Lyceum, looking into the threat of House Thornweave after the holding of the Volkov's was destroyed.

The things and people they faced were incredibly dangerous, and I can only commend them for their bravery and their willingness to step in where others might not. They faced the impossible and made difficult decisions.

Among them was Count Giulio Corvini. He and his group, which included my cousin Lady Yelana Igniseri, Lady Esme Fidante, Lady Mabelle Laurent, Ras Al-Katibi, and Lord Vicente Fidante, were able to rescue a young girl and her brother from a village that had been decimated by attackers.

Were it not for their actions, that family may have never been reunited. Worse, the boy they found, a young lad of 18, may have perished where he had been hiding during the assault on his down. It was through their efforts that they were able to discover him trapped in a cellar. They were the only survivors, that they could discover, of that particular assault.

The world is a lesser place without Count Giulio and his influence in it.

Relationship Note on Giulio

It's hard to lose a friend like you.

You were always there to explain things to me. I'd go to you with old folk songs that I'd found, and you'd tell me how they were linked to the larger picture. You were so good at seeing the larger picture. Like a mosaic, you'd put together the shapeless details to form a larger image of something recognizable.

You inspired me. My prayers to Jayus lately have been about you, that I might be able to put together a song for you. Bards don't sing too much about the intellectual heroes, but you were brilliant and a hero in your own right.

You were good at getting people together, too. You knew who to speak to about anything. Absolutely anything. If I needed to know something, and you didn't know it yourself, you'd point me in the right direction. Or you'd coordinate something between groups. You were the center of the network. As I remember you, I discover more and more people who were your friends. You knew everyone, and they all thought you were pretty great.

I will miss you. I will miss your insight. I will miss drinking brandy with you. I will miss your laugh. I will miss you, my friend.

Relationship Note on Giulio

I am rather surprised to hear about Count Giulio's demise, so soon after the Archscholar Sina was killed. It seems that no sooner had we set time aside for a Ceremony to remember one explorer that we need to set aside more time for another, and not for the usual means that would spell an exporer's demise.

I do hope that some truth can be uncovered in light of Giulio's death. I know a fair few who would want to know why he was killed. Though, I suppose, one might look no further than some of the topics he may have been researching, for he was quite prolific about collecting information.

I regret that I had not had the opportunity to drag him along on some adventure. I shall pray to the Queen of Endings that his soul might be able to find some rest.

Relationship Note on Giulio

My heart breaks at the news of Count Giulio Corvini's death, and finding the right words to describe my feelings is proving difficult. He was not only a friend to Redrain, but to me as well. He never hesitated to steer me along paths he thought I might best pursue, or recommend people I should speak to - or they, with me. There was never a hesitation about sharing what he knew, and I think he knew more than anyone I have ever met. His ability to put pieces together was truly astounding, and he was exceptionally generous both with his friendship and his intellect. I count myself so very, very lucky and grateful to have known him. The world is dimmer, and it feels like a great tome has been closed by shadows.

I do it with two jars of your moonshine, three pieces of bread and four slices of ham and cheese.

Play it with Foolsbane; see what happens. You'll be dead but at least you won't have to suffer anymore.

Agreement, my lord. While I was under the tutelage of various instructors, they would rephrase it as such: keep it simple, stupid.

I look forward to future brews that may be introduced and do love Lady Margerie's suggestion of a tasting. I would certainly endeavor to attend such a thing.

Cloudberry wine, with my admitted preference for wine over other drinks, sounds quite intriguing.

Might I suggest a tasting party? And perhaps a series of tastings at the different establishments you might wish to sell them at to see which vintage goes down best at different locales?

I for one think cordials sound like just the thing for the old biddies when we get together to trade knitting ideas.

All you at the Murder of Crows last night...

Sorry for being the drunk ass as that I was. Find me later, and I'll sort you all out. Once I can see straight enough to put my boots on.

Spirits, what day is it?!

Giulio,

Southern Thunder is my new vice. Thanks for bringing it, friend.

An interesting discussion on truth and its place in education. Could you perhaps expand upon your thoughts with a discussion of how you perceive the relationship between truth and honesty and the relative merits (or flaws) of both?

The door to the treasure hall of knowledge is unlocked by the key of questions. Let no one man say they are the doorman, for there are multiple entrances if one simply looks.

But what is knowledge without wisdom to know when to use it? May you seek balance, may you always question and may you find that the more you learn, the more you don't know.
