So very little is permanent. What satisfaction we find is, yes, fleeting, but does that not make it more worthwhile? It's nothing to hold onto, but rather something to savor while it lasts.

I have been grateful every day, for every day I get to spend with my cousin since her return. To hear Deva's laughter echoing in the halls of the villa, or to see the smirks on the lips of the staff as they make her favorite treats, and the way she infects us all with her mischievous joy...these things are gifts. A reminder, too, for we so very rarely (if ever) get a second chance like the one we've all been given. I'm also excited that she has been named a Voice and very much look forward to working beside her for House Redrain!

Princess Deva has recently decided she needs a new hobby, one that will keep her from trouble. I find that it is not often the person's fault that trouble always finds them, but troubles ability to know which person would be the most entertaining to deal with. Those of us who seem to find trouble, regardless if we are looking or not, may find it is an inevitable thing and you should simply make the best of it.
Though here are a few suggestions as to hobbies that seem trouble-free:
Pot stirrer.
Lamplighter.
Paintbrush cleaner.
Pillow Fluffer.
Sleeping.

I'm not very good at writing public journals, for I tend to keep most of my thoughts to myself unless I see reason to share it. But I have to say something about you. For some time now, you've been at my side, and even when you don't realize it, even when you worry, you have been my pillar of strength. You have been a partner, someone I can talk to and will listen to me. Someone that is not afraid to tell me when I could be wrong, and someone that is not shy from supporting me when I'm right.

So. If I ever decide to tease or pick on this particular Redrain, I need to do so from behind something very big and hard to see through. And there can't be a single hole. Apparently she can strike through an eyeslit at a hundred yards with her bow. And I've learned she's just as adept with chairs. This means for my own safety, I need to nail them down before teasing. Preparation makes it hardly worth it in the end.

From the outside, Deva Redrain and I shouldn’t get along at all. She’s a perfect Northerner. I exemplify my Southern heritage. She is fiery and passionate. I try to control myself and more than one has referred to me as ‘icy’. She says what she thinks. I calculate nearly every word before it passes my lips.
And yet, I find myself quite liking Deva. She reminds me of all the best parts of my sister and yet, within her, I see the same core of steel that resides within myself. Perhaps opposites are simply drawn to one another or, perhaps, the surface differences don’t matter that much. Not really.
