The Peers of the Compact are often caught in situation where they must travel to and from their ancestral homes and Arx. It's not unusual for people to go months without seeing one another as they're embroiled in the affairs of stewardship. I experience this frequently with Marquessa Demura, a brilliant hands on leader of her people. When I do get the opportunity to sit down with her, usually at my home in Arx, I'm always impressed by her intelligence and ability to not become overly exited by any one emergency. And there's never just one, is there, Marquessa?

While we got on well, it seems that the Marquessa has been busy with war, and far too busy for a protege. However, we are still on talking terms I believe, and that is what matters, even if I didn't get to know her too well as my patron.

Lyon's Redoubt is a place that is stepped in fond memories for me. There was an apple orchard there where they brewed a delicious dark cider. Vance, Tabitha and Valen used to go there to drink and to solve all of Arvum's problems. There was no day that I was more excited than when I was knighted and I was for the first time invited to join them.
That is why it makes me glad to see that the Lyon's Redoubt is in capable hands. Marquessa Demura is a skilled knight, has a good head for tactics and strategy, and has a boundless love for her people. It is good that she is here to help us fight the storm that is on the way.

I met my Patron as a Guest in the Lyonesse Estate. She was quite friendly, and i believe that we will get along well enough. I also hope that our mutually beneficial agreements will continue.

I fear you've been stressed too much lately. You've been acting a bit off, and I wish I could take some of that burden. You are so sure that little things can be bit, that you forget to enjoy life. Yes, I agree Rymarr stepped out of line. Yes, I agree he should not have tried to lecture us on what is proper. But no matter how you spin it, he is still our brother. I will stand by you no matter what you decide, but I hope that you will not be so stubborn as father.

Demura... Mur, Mur, Mur. I swear you... I'm never sure if you're happy, sad, or just something else. You have this air about you as if you're always waiting for everything to collapse. I never quite understand it. Maybe it's just me. You sent me a letter about having missed me, or to that affect, at the "event." Tournament? Sparring match? Let's call it the Sword Measuring Contest. So I missed you at the Sword Measuring Contest, and I get this messenger saying that. I sent you one back and... nothing. No response to me.
I do hope you understand why I do what I do. I hope you understand why I might not always be around or be free to talk to you - a bit like how you're not always able to talk with me. I miss you though. I miss our silly games when we were kids. I miss trying to talk you into a corset and a dress (still think you'd look great in one). I miss trying to scheme into the kitchens.
No matter what, I still think of you though. I hope you know that too. I've set myself on this task to help Lyonesse's economic state, a pressure to help build us back up, and I thought of you when I did it. I hope, in a way, to surprise you with the new practice swords when we start producing them. I doubt I'll be able to hide that from you, but I would love the look of surprise on your face when I deliver one to you. Painted pink with a lacy bow.

Relationship Note on Demura
An unexpected face to find in Arx. I imagine she sought to surprise me with her presence, since she didn't send word ahead. I may have stepped away from my family in order to take on the duty of protecting His Majesty, but that does not defeat the fact that it is good to see an old face from my youth in the city. She has done well by her House and I'm certain that she will be the bright hope for it. She has lost none of her confidence and self-assurance. I'm proud to see that she's taken to her role as Marquessa with such aptitude.
I am confident that she will lead her family resolutely forward with a steady hand, wisdom, and her own brand of charm. She brought her younger sister with her as well. I'm sure I'll be hearing their names regularly now. I wish them the best of luck and pray that they will do right by the people of Arx.
