Relationship Note on Ida

I love this sword. Wildly Inappropriate is perfection! I couldn't imagine a better representation of myself than what you've created, Dame Ida. Sparrowhawk too, which I definitely ran straight to the field to try out when it was delivered, I couldn't even wait to get the horse saddled. I was too excited.

Your craftsmanship is amazing, as always. I'm honored to wield such fine works of beauty and imagination. Thank you!

Relationship Note on Ida

I say 'Idaing' like a new entry in my curse-word lexicon. What does it mean when -you- say it? I'm quaking in my boots.

Relationship Note on Ida

Long have I heard rumor of one Dame Ida's talent for craftsmanship. Long have I heard rumor of Oathlands steel being superior to the mass produced weaponry as well. I asked for proof of both when I commissioned a greatsword in the Oathlands style from the 'Hammer of the West'.

I'm very pleased to say that my expectations were not met, not exceeded, but near entirely shattered with the finished product. It's more than I could have hoped for. I've always been envious of the greater metals like diamondplate, alaricite and so on. But with this piece, those concerns are immediately put to rest. There are only so many different ways to say 'incredible' and my vocabulary certainly doesn't encompass all of them.

It's going to be my honor to carry Dame Ida's work, this sword called Barathrum into the Tournament of Roses. And I'll even dare to say that it will be the audience's honor to lay eyes on the labor put forward by her own two hands.

Perhaps with Thrax's transition to a freed workforce, I'll have to see if I might lure any Oathlands smiths to the other end of the continent. A man can dream, aye?

Relationship Note on Ida

The heat has its downsides, but it also has some perks. One was having a lovely little chat with Dame Ferron, as it was much too warm to run the forge. We chatted about weaponry and artistry and the need to learn to protect oneself. I did give a suggestion or two for pieces she might work on, and I'll be so thrilled if any of them come to see the light! I can't make things like she does, so beautiful and strong and useful, but if I gave even the tiniest bit of inspiration to the smallest glimmer of an idea, I will consider myself useful.

Also, the world can never have too many hairpins. I'm sure my sister Elgana will agree with that.

Relationship Note on Ida

I thank Dame Ida for she has answered a call, a need I have had and answered it with a unique piece that speaks exactly of every word and meaning I had hoped could come to reality. She is a talented smith and I truly hope others are able to see her works. Path is such an honor to hold.

Thank you.

Relationship Note on Ida

While I have yet to meet Dame Ida in person, she has been a pleasant joy as a recently formed penpal. Her reputation in her work is clearly well earned, and given the perfect blend of politeness and charm in her words, it is no wonder she's held up as an example of Oathlands honor, and find myself looking forward to being able to review her work first hand.

Relationship Note on Ida

I picked up one of the copper pins everyone is raving about these days as the must-have fashion accessory in these perilous times. Of course, I was a bit shocked to see that they were offered without cost. While I'm of course impressed with the selflessness of such an act by a clearly talented smith (the piece is simple but exquisite) I should try to find out if there is a fund or charity of some sort set up to support the current efforts to bolster Arvum's hope and harmony.

Mistress Ida's brooches in honor of Copper are amazing and she gave them out for free. Yay for Ida making beautiful things and being very generous with her work and art.

Relationship Note on Ida

Patsy has been returning from Dame Ida's shop with elk treats to munch on. Given that he is not an elk, naturally I've looked askance to the man while he's sat happily gnawing on them.

Honestly, they're not half bad once one gets through the pine flavor.

Relationship Note on Ida

My sincere gratitude to everyone who expressed an interest in being my cat's guardian! I'm delighted by the kindness of so many smashing people in the city. I'm sure Nine would also be pleased, but she's very deadpan, so it might not be apparent. (I sometimes like to think she's smiling on the inside.)

I honestly found the choice quite a hard one to make, but I've selected Dame Ida Ferron to take care of my feline friend should I fall in battle. Or fall off a wall. Or something along those lines. Whatever the case, I'm certain Nine would be rather content to lurk around the forge with Dame Ida should that day come.

Many thanks to the Hammer of the West; stalwart adopter of orphaned pets, and crafter of glorious shinies.

I rather like the idea of the shop being renamed to Ferron Arms and Animal Rescue. It's certainly more accurate, though you may end up with a good deal more animals being dropped on your doorstep.

Though the design was unconventional. Dame Ida did excellent work on my new weapon.

I will always admire rubicund for it's imposing display and sharpness, when in the right hands.

It's already been broken in nicely.

I think you are quite right. I can speak of it now, for it is no longer a memory that brings me any sort of discomfort, but when I gave birth to Aeryn, well. He was an extremely large baby, and while I am taller than most women, well. It was a very difficult birth and had Mother Mercy Sophie not been on hand I might have had a much more difficult time. Kael was beside himself. But within a few days it had faded to a nebulous unpleasantness with the sweetest of rewards. I was carrying Talis within six months of Aeryn's birth. I thought after Talis I would give myself a break of several years, but already I see myself staring at babies and getting that flutter of memory. In time only the good memories remain, and I think we can thank our survival as a race to that peculiar selective memory that mother's have.

Have I raved about the wolves you made for me yet? I should have, if I didn't... If I did, well, they are worth double praises. Triple even. I love them so incredibly much! Thank you for taking my vision of something and making it into wearable, and dangerous, art!

Relationship Note on Ida

The only time in my life that I have regretted not pursuing any sort of martial vocation is when I visit Dame Ida Ferron's shop. The rubicund blade, Oath, is beyond compare. She has shared that she had had inspiration for another, similarly themed though not the same, which she will unveil in the coming days, and if you did not have a chance to bid on Oath, I highly encourage you to do so on the next.
