I've lived in the city of Arx just over twenty years. I wasn't born here, I came from Setarco. And that life seems so many lives ago that I think I must have become a different person the day I stepped through the gates. I made a home here. I joined the guard instead of a street family. I've walked all of its roads and alleyways and lanes.

I never expected to be knighted. I think I would have been content to work as a lieutenant under Silas until I retired in another ten or twenty years.

I'm not sure if I expected to feel different. I had the vows written on my arm so I could glance at them if I started to falter. I'm glad I did that, even if it probably looked stupid. I nearly choked.

It is a strange feeling to be sworn to a house again. But also... Similar. And maybe this is another start.

Yes Scholar this is important...

No not like last time this is more urgent.

Well I thought if it was written very clearly they may take heed.

Yes, I am ready.

[Scholar Notes clearing of throat and drawing of sword]

Please do not exasperate my sister Khanne people of Arx. I am already disturbed by the noises coming from her suite, I have been required to use hapless servants to deliver missives so concerned am I. I do not need further questionable sounds to hear and then fret over. Is that shouting because of a white or because of... It need not be said!

The Crow Soup Kitchen has been fully funded for the next year. We will continue to offer one bowl of soup per day to everyone and anyone that asks for it.

In addition to funding the existing endeavor, we've also collected enough silver to open a second soup kitchen, on the other end of the Lowers (OOC note: No build on grid for this, just there for story sake).

A big thanks go out to everyone that helped with this, everyone that attended Darts and Drinking, everyone that sent me support and encouragement, everyone that overpaid at the events, and the Crown itself, which continues to send silver every week to keep things operating. Everyone!

And a special thanks to Princess Marian Redrain and Princess Donella Redrain who send large sums of silver and resources. Some may have heard me say it before, that the Northerners are not concerned with the Lowers. Let me say loudly, with Princess Marian, Princess Donella, Duchess Ann, Lady Khanne, Princess Echo, and Princess Astraea working so very hard to support not only their own people who suffer in this world, but also the people of Arx, and especially the people of the Lowers, I am confident that Redrain and their vassals are just as invested in this city flourishing as anyone else is.

Next year, I am aiming to keep both kitchens running strong, as well as fully fund a permanent team of workers to walk the streets and tend to any that cannot, due to age, illness, or anything else, make it to one of my soup kitchens. I'll not say anything about ending poverty, or guaranteeing work, or make any grand promises, but in the years to come there will be no one in Arx that dies due to lack of food or shelter.

Holy Hannah Handmaiden....

I spoke that the level of honesty in an answer is often (note, not always) more important and more revealing than the answer itself. I spoke of many possibilities that it might (not will always, but might) reveal if it were not an honest answer. I did not say the limited examples I listed were the end all be all. And it is often (not always) impossible to tell in the moment if the answer given is a lie, or honest, or misleading, or absolutely given with any level of good intent or any level of ill intent (which I will say includes infinite possibilities of levels), or even possibly completely neutral intent.

All I was saying was that the level of honesty or dishonesty, openness or guardedness, in an answer given is often, not always, probably not never, more revealing than the answer itself. (If that level of honesty etc. can at some point be determined)

In my opinion. This is not rule or rote.

Relationship Note on Belladonna

Beloved Cousin,

You owe no one in this city a public display of suffering, a heartfelt entry in the whites regarding what he meant to you or what he meant to the family.

I do hope that my irritation on your behalf, and expression of such both privately to Mistress Culler and publicly in my whites, did not further your grief.

Know that you have my love and loyalty -always-. I did not speak because you require me to do so in your defense, you are quite capable of doing so for yourself and I know this well.

I am here.

It's always a little disorienting to come back to the city after spending a great deal of time so far afield. Some things are very different; some things are exactly the same. Sorting out which is which?

That's the tricky bit.

Allow me to correct myself.

This was my original entry into the whites:

Imagine how shocked I was to read that House Pravus did /nothing/ to search for Duke Cassius.

This Pravus by blood, and her Grimhall husband (with Grimhall and Pravus being solid allies, in this and all things) would beg to disagree.

This is how it ought to have been written:

Imagine how shocked I was to read that House Pravus did /nothing/ to search for (edits here: 'the truth regarding the death of') Duke Cassius

This Pravus by blood, and her Grimhall husband (with Grimhall and Pravus being solid allies, in this and all things) would beg to disagree.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If any others notice errors in my writings in the whites on this particular topic, I would like to gently request that they might be communicated to me in a less public manner, as they do nothing to assist the grieving process of the families who lost him.

Mistress Mae,

I am indeed a Voice of Grimhall and not Pravus. I did not at any time claim to be otherwise.

I spoke as such. The alliance between Grimhall and Pravus is strong, one forged through a very detailed marriage contract. As such, Pravus and Grimhall are family.

I do hope this clears up any confusion, however if it does not then readers will have to remain confused.

The latest endeavour by The Salon took time to realize. No Question Left Unasked. It wasn't very original, the title. Riding fully on the path paved by the Scholars with No Question Left Unanswered. Questions and answers are rather why I pushed for staying so close in name. People can spend a great deal of time focusing on one without enough of the other.

The notion that fueled all of this is that answers are only truly useful if people ask the right questions. You may or may not agree with that premise, there are certainly cases where it does not hold. Yet it works more often than it fails.

In keeping with this, we did not go out telling people how things were. Instead, we gave them methods to form their own questions and did our best to answer them.

We didn't always succeed. There were some farmers who were terribly clever with the questions they had, more clever than we had ready answers to satisfy. That wasn't a failing but a success. We recorded their questions, and with time we've been able to send out answers to most of them.

I am left feeling the outcome was both modest and important. The people we reached are better for our efforts, and the ability to better ask questions and delve into what a person cares about extends beyond their daily tasks. People carry that into their personal life, into conversations with friends and family. Like a seed planted, it will grow.

If properly nurtured. I pray someone sees what we've done and carries onwards. Someone who realizes that ignorance is the most dangerous poison of all.
