Clever as a raven, voice sweet as a lark,
He might as well be invisible
and from his lute, indivisible:
But where does he go ... question mark?
And is his thirst for new instruments unquenchable? Honestly.

Unless you want me to write you again.
I could.
Do you really want that?

Relationship Note on Itzal
If you can make a snappy, memorable, child-friendly song which accurately encapsulates the primary duties of the leadership of the Faith, I will pay you 20,000 silver, and see it sung across Arvum. A bonus of 10 thousand silver if you can fit in a verse that reminds people that every godsworn is more than capable of addressing the questions relating to any of the Pantheon, and one does not have to find a priest "of Gild" if one has a question about the goddess - just a priest will do.

But, anyway - the question on the table is "What Does a Legate Do?" and it is a good one. We don't each children, for the record.
The three Legates of the Faith serve as administrative and advisory positions beneath the Dominus of the Faith. Each holds primary responsibility over a Tetrad of Discipleships - mine is Concepts: Limerance, the Sentinel, Gild, and Skald. The Discipleship of the Thirteenth typically reports directly to the Dominus. As it is the Archlectors' and Grandmasters' jobs to manage the day-to-day priorities of their Devoted and their Orders, so it is the Legate's responsibility to ensure that the Archlectors are executing their duties properly, and to provide them whatever support they need for that.
In addition to this, the Legates provide guidance to the Faith on theological matters pertaining to their Tetrads, or theological matters in general, when those matters do not need to be addressed by the Dominus. Each Tetrad has its own requirements as well - Concepts approves noble marriages and has control over the Knights of Solace and their duties; Arts has control of the Templars and of the Scholars, the largest discipleship in the Compact; Creation controls personnel assignments to various parishes across Arvum, and policies regarding tithe collection.
Further, in addition to this, the Legates serve the same purpose as the Voice of a noble house - when required, we speak with the Voice of the Dominus, and can be assumed to have his or her trust in all matters, unless the Most Holy says otherwise. This allows Legates to move troops, make pronouncements and policies, and take care of other matters that the Dominus does not wish to address personally. In concert, the three Legates also stand as the Most Holy's closest advisors, in theory, and are often called to discuss matters that require official Faith stances or actions - the final decision always rests with the Dominus, just as it does with the head of a noble house, but it is the Legates' duty to provide the best advice and guidance they can, from the depths of their experience as theologians and as practicing priests who have worked their way up through the Church.
And there is paperwork. Large piles of parchment, which never really seem to end.
