My sister has always looked after me. Even when she doesn't know that she's doing it. When I was a child, if I could not sleep I would hide above the forge, listening to her work, and I would sleep soundly. She never knew until last week, when I told her.
Now she has had a room constructed for me just off her shop. I am more grateful than I can express in words.

Did you forget that -we- had to hire other stronger wilier people than ourselves to get that bed in pieces up the stairs? That bed is huge. And heavy. It's the kind of bed you can have ten people jumping on at once and it won't even creak. That being said, I need a bigger bed because it's too small. I can't starfish efficiently. And making that bed with you is the closest I think I'll ever get to making love to you (and as close as I want to be, you're my work wife and any such antics would destroy the nature of our friendship and I can't have that), all that pounding and swinging and pounding and swinging.

I am going to have to commission an outfit for Lord Talis in green, black, and purple from someone. Might you have recommendations? Once this has been done, we will bring him by your establishment for you to see him. Purple, I imagine, would be quite flattering on him as well.

As my knight was fond of saying during my days as a squire: if you're going to be dumb, then make certain you're tough.
Which is probably why he would practice with us with live steel, while espousing the creed that you take your nicks and scars in training so that you're less apt to earn them on a real battlefield.
That is a philosophy that has maintained a presence in the back of my mind since my youth. Train hard so that when grit and metal become the method of dispute resolution, you're ready.
I'd be disappointed if Dame Ida were to ever pull her punches for this student. Thankfully she does not.

I'm beginning to suspect that Dame Ida has always been so very respectful, because she's just biding her time. Waiting for someone to seek out one of the finer pugilists to step out of the Oathlands as far back as my own memory goes. Waiting for someone who she has heaped respect, politeness, and more upon to come knocking at her door, asking to learn a thing or six from Dame Ida.
She hit me so hard at one point that I'm confident I saw some of my ancestors, that I've not already encountered. She generated new dead people for me to see, that's how hard she hit me.
I'm fairly certain that I even called her 'mother' at one point in my disorientation. She hit me again for that one. Likely because she can't be that much older than me and I suspect she found it insulting.
This wasn't even our first lesson, so I knew exactly what I was walking into. I shouldn't be surprised by any of it. Never let it be said though that Dame Ida Ferron, the Hammer of the West, isn't a delightful instructor. I told her to hit me and she hit me in the ear, I think. After my vision finished graying out, I think that's when I began hearing the high pitched whine and tasting sounds for a short time. Needless to say, every part of a round of slap-boxing with Dame Ida is a learning experience.

Thanks to the goodwill of Lady Tessa Moore, I am in possession of two fine polearms, and thus spoiled for choice! However, while there are many fine weaponsmiths in the city (Mistress Mirari, who made my spear, being an excellent example)? Dame Ida is not only a superb forger of weapons, but a supremely kind and generous soul, honourable and forthright. She does me and the Keaton family great honor with her words.

There are many talented craftsmen in Arx, but Dame Ida Ferron is surely among the best. I don't just mean her dedication to her craft and the quality of her work, which are second to none, but what sets her above and beyond are her personal honor, integrity and generosity. I am humbled by her dedication, and strongly recommend Dame Ferron as a weaponsmith to any who needs to arm themselves.

I gave you the last pair of earrings because you liked the ones I made Mayir so much you mumbled something about mugging him for them. If you weren't with Morrighan at the time and she wasn't emphatically agreeing with you, I'd have laughed it off.

My sincere thanks to Dame Ida Ferron, who has created for me the most wonderful new hammer based on what I can only imagine were some incredibly vague instructions, really. At my request, she used only Northern materials and the finished piece is magnificent - I couldn't have asked for better. Arx really is blessed with so many talented weaponsmiths it is hard to say which one is my favorite at times!

I know that this has been mentioned in the whites before, but Dame Ida Ferron consistently provides excellent weaponry. I am always amazed when I see one of her pieces. If you are looking for someone for a commission, please seek her out. It truly is my goal that everyone in the family has a weapon designed by her hand.
