Relationship Note on Elloise

It's a shame, Baroness Elloise. I always thought you as peculiar, but bright. Intelligent. Perhaps one of the most intelligent people in all of the Compact.

A shame that you are doing so much to prove that conception of you wrong.

I think you deserve an opportunity to apologize - first of all, not just to all the Prodigals who have written you, clearly offended by what you have done, but also to those of us in Whisper House, who do everything we can to embrace and heighten this civilization of ours that you so demean, as well as to the entire class of nobility which you have just maligned.

A Prodigal is simply someone who has, through whatever turn of event, chosen to become part of the Compact. To make a better life for themselves than what they had before. The ones who deserve our respect are the ones who are seeking to integrate themselves into our society, to become Arvani as much as they can. There is certainly nothing inherently better about them, particularly when they first get here - because when they first get here, they have so much to learn.

Remember that it is the Compact who have defeated our enemies, which honors the gods, and which fights back. Including Petrichor, which many of your so-called nature-loving shavs have abandoned.

But I have seen some of your journal entries since, and you seem to be doubling down, despite being called out by the very people you are idolizing. Dear, oh, dear. If you want to spend time with the shavs, Baroness Elloise, I do hope you don't seek to be bringing Whitefrost into their fold. Until such time, well, I hope you enjoy learning what rejecting civilization actually feels like.

What is wrong with you?

This is not some empty, hypothetical question. I am truly, seriously concerned that you are an idiot who has poisoned themselves with their previous experiments and that your people will suffer because you are not fit to lead. Do you experiment on your own people as you wish to experiment on my own? Do they agree to it, or have you taken your title as their Baroness to mean that you can treat anyone like shit?

People of Whitefrost, if you need help blink twice.

Okay, I admit it, I'm fucking baffled.

Do you somehow think that Prodigals (and Abandoned, I guess) don't understand lying, or are too stupid to know how to put on a front? Do you think lack of manners is 'closer to nature', whatever that means? Am I actually reading that right? Plenty of Abandoned live in houses. Most of them probably live in houses. And villages. And towns. Sometimes castles. What does an absurd amount of silverware have to do with anything? What are you even talking about?

I lived in a tent in the Everwinter and I knew what a fucking fork was. I don't use ten of them to eat a meal because that's a giant stupid waste, not because my inner simple savage ways keep me from it. I think the nobility just get so damned bored they have to keep inventing newer and more ridiculous ways to show each other up.

Baroness Stormbreak.

It's hardly an experiment when you use terms such as unmannered savages and lack of civilization. Science asks for questions, not Labels, and I am. Unsure what your question in this rambling is . These are hardly subjective terms that you've used. You have already made choices on how we are to be viewed and in all honesty, it repulses me.

If you had a true interest in learning about Prodigal houses you would study their history. How they got here and what their culture and beliefs have brought to the compact. Not some random rubbish about how you now feel over cultured in comparison.

Finally, House Leary has always encouraged knowledge and learning, but not when it involves the degradation of people or their culture.

No, you may not.

We are not savages, noble or otherwise. We are human beings with out own cultures and own beliefs. We are certainly far more well-mannered then many in this city that call themselves Peers.

Perhaps you should spend more time around people and less around books?

You my sister are brilliant!

The best!

While I am dubious to the material you made them from, they work and I have such schemes! No.. Not schemes. Plans. I have plans.

Yay science!

P. S if a slightly cranky And stinky northern lord comes looking to buy your products, don't let him. They will only be used for schemes!

My recommendations on visiting Elly's lab.

1) if you are already am energetic person, don't drink her potion. You will spend the night climbing the walls and thinking a sword shooting crossbow is a brilliant ideas.

2) Don't touch unknown vials. They /will/ explode.

3) Don't pick up things without asking. You will be tackled and maybe blamed when things fall apart.

4) Everyone should ask her for a tour. Her inventions are amazing.

Lady Elloise, Baroness Consort of Stormbreak, born of House Leary, has also agreed to accept my patronage. She has done all she can to ensure that her house pays reparations to the shop that was inadvertantly damaged in the Ward of House Grayson the other week, and I'm certain that with a steady supply of reagents and vials and whatever else scientists need -- I'm no expert -- to outfit her lab, we will be able to avoid future mishaps.

I'm tremendously _curious_ about where this relationship shall go. But then, is that not why we both serve the House of Questions?

House Stormbreak celebrates the births of Lady Kestrel and Lady Valke Stormbreak. Elly says they're stupid cute with dark hair and blue eyes. She also thinks babies are strange things and she looks forward to parenting experiments.
