He seems to think I am somehow in need of proving myself to him, and also that I am some kind of spy for - someone. To look into Thrax affairs. He is mistaken on both accounts, but accusing me of the latter and demanding the former is an excellent way to irritate me. I don't have time for these games, no matter how much my brother wants me to make amends and play nice.

I have made no particular secret of my disapproval of the way Prince Victus ascended to the position of High Lord. Such a bloody violation of the laws of fealty cannot be approve of by Limerance, or those of us who represent him. That opinion has not changed.
However, I also cannot refuse to give credit where credit is due. While the gender segregation of the Isles is not the deepest and most persistent injustice inflicted there, to address any injustice must be recognized. So, to Prince Victus, I must say well done. And to all the vassal houses who choose to follow him in this righteous actions, well done as well.

Relationship Note on Victus
When it comes to my growth upon the Salt I had Donrai Thrax to guide my heart to make decisions callous of all but those born of Thrax. And to do whatever was needed, no matter how brutal -- to see to the most desirable end for the majority of those I command and protect.
When it comes to war and what it means to be a true Thraxian I always had Victus to model after. His conduct in the field was fierce and the fear before his prowess has led him to defy tradition and ascend to what he has earned in blood and glory. I took the fleet and used my influence to help secure his rule in the Maelstrom. And I shall readily follow him into ruin and damnation to forge ourselves in the fire through these dark days ahead; for we shall emerge stronger and more powerful than those lesser people who would crumble under the strain of it all.
It is in his honor that I am now at the head of the Leviathan and the Warlord of Thrax.
It is in his honor that I shall not fail. And while he tends to running the realm I shall see to it that the Serpent Banners reign upon the Salt with the fury and that it will be the gutted bellies of our enemies who drench the tides and feed the blood tithe.
I have worked all my life for this and I shall not squander it.

A man perhaps that is beyond reproach as one of the most subtle and deadliest men I have ever met. His sheer presence is the raw and epitome of house Thrax and that of the living representation of the Sea Serpent that threatens all the ships upon the water. A dangerous thing in the turmoil of the world that is right now and yet the profits seen are splendid to be seen with him as the head of the house.

Thankfully, he didn't take me up on my 'offer'. What a complicated, odd interaction I seem to have with the Highlord. It's becoming less intimidating and more direct each time, and I think it will end up being quite beneficial. Hopefully both ways.

So recently I had the pleasure of Highlord Victus' company for lunch at the Ebb and Flow Inn within the Thrax ward. And he surprised me. He has something of a reputation, and while he is every bit the gruff warlord that people paint him to be. He was not a monster, not even close. I like to think we got along well. He was surprisingly charming, and he didn't even have to get out his pectorals to have me just a little smitten. Not that I would object if he did.
I can certainly see why the Thrax stand behind him.

While I can't say I ever expected Lord Victus Thrax to ascend to the seat of High Lord of Thrax, I can't say I'm surprised. What I know of the man is that he's a vicious fighter with a keen mind. I've had nothing but pleasant interactions with the man, even when we're beating the shit out of one another in the field.
I have no doubt he'll do House Thrax proud as their new High Lord. And I'll do what I can to support him along the way.

Relationship Note on Victus
An interesting day, my trip to the Ebb and Flow killed two birds with one stone. Well, two tasks with one trip, no birds were killed and if they were, I hardly think I'd be able to knock out Lord Victus with a stone. More likely the other way round, the stone would be knocked out? In any case, his presence made the delivery of my supplies go far more smoothly, and also presented a new challenge.
And a wager of sorts! I do so love a challenge, just for challenge's sake, but extra prizes are never remiss.
I will start my investigations as soon as I get home! Surely someone knows something, and I'll be able to ask the right questions. We shall see. It may not be a short task, but I will unravel this knotted riddle.

Gruff he may be, he's a good man. One just has to be patient, and not be easily cowed by his withering looks and grunted "Fuck off"'s. Ply him with a good rum and whisky and he'll tolerate any lady long enough to make something of a friendship of it, so long as you're tolerable. True fact.

As usual, I find myself getting along -very- well with Thraxians. I don't agree with the whole Thrall bullshit but they as individuals are intelligent, cunning, capable, and honorable in their own way. He's no different and I feel a strange kind of 'out of my element' bond with him.
