How lovely it is to be greeted by the lush wild beauty of my unkempt and now untamed garden upon my return; an oasis of nature within all the hustle and bustle and striving and thriving that is this living, breathing city. A retreat, should I need one as I try to fall back into the rhythm and flow of 'civilization'.

I feel refreshed, rejuvenated, and remembered.

Now, to see how many old friends and colleagues share the fondness of the memories of the flora!

As quickly as I return to the city - I'm off and away again. My flock, I love you all so.

Relationship Note on Leola

I did meet Dame Leola not in the best of circumstances, on my part. My hangover was not enough to dampen my respect for her or her work in the lodges. Not that it was her own doing, as she was the first to admit. She has some fascinating things to say and I am curious to talk to her more.

She took the crack across the shins from Blessed Brigida better than some I've seen.

Relationship Note on Domonico

I'm sure Lord Domonico's unexpected dip will do nothing to dampen his appreciation for his fine new vessel. I must admit I can't say I've ever seen him look quite so serene as at that moment.

Relationship Note on Domonico

I do rather think the pilgrimage idea that we talked is a wonderful idea for you. Visiting all those holy sites and making all those offerings in so many different places sounds like a lovely endeavour to honour her. Plus you would get to see all beautiful places and see all the different cultures she is worshiped.

Oh it's so delightful to be back in Arx! To feel the city against my feet once more. Perhaps I shouldn't have missed so much of summer.

Relationship Note on Brigida

You can come live with me! It's only one floor. I think you'd like the garden too. The tree by the pond is so pretty right now with all the turning leaves. You'd have to tolerate /me/, though! I'm pretty quiet. Sometimes... Ok, rarely.

Praise to the God of Knowledge for allowing us to record our trials and tribulations, our victories and our sorrows, our triumphs and tragedies.

I have stood steadfast against the rising tide of darkness and heard the song of hope. My dearest children, you will never know the swell of pride within my breast and the love I bear for the deeds done against the Pretender King.

Send your visions, your armies, your monsters. There will be triumph in the end though it always comes at a high price. My gods and my faith stand firm against you.

On a more comedic note, I must remember to thank that kind Whisper, whomever they were, who lent me scented soap to scrub down in. Vomit beasts do not smell pleasant.

Lady of Wind and Wave - let these words on page be granted to you even as I speak them, my words a prayer, my thoughts benediction, my love an offering.

You whose love is as boundless as the seas and as ceaseless as the tides, as broad as the skies and as gentle as a summer's breeze. You whose wrath is the storm, the tidal wave, the riptide.

Grant us your blessings so we may in return magnify you. Grant us strength against your foes so we may in return strengthen you. Grant us your wisdom so we may in return work your will.

So we ask, so may it be.

Many have heard the stories and dreadful news of the ships and storms that ravage our seas. I will not mince words nor try to honey-coat the truth. We are at war with our enemy, an ancient king of old who sold his soul for power and betrayed all life; not just humanity but the children of the sea and the creatures which swim in her. Even now he attacks us, and he attacks the Goddess Mangata who, through her deep love and sacrifice, holds her enemies at bay to stem the tide of their attacks. Without her ceaseless vigil, we would be long since wiped away by the beast of the depths.

Now it is our turn - let us be the lighthouse which will guide the ships away from the rocky shores. Let us be the ray of light that pierces the storm. Let us the guiding star to light our way home. Offer your prayer, your love, your light. Let our tears be the clensing rain. Let our voices be the winds which clear the storm from the sky. From the holy halls of Sanctum to the good folk of the Mourning Isles who dwell close to the Goddess forevermore - let your voices and prayers raise. Write your words on the sand so they may be taken into the sea. Speak your words on the wind so they may be carried by the breeze. Sing your songs, lift up your hearts, and unite as one - for not every man or woman can sail the seas nor carry a spear or sword; but every man, woman, child, and creature of the world can offer prayer and love. When the ships sail to fight our foes, you can send your prayer with them and strengthen the Goddess with our support. Give what help you can with your body, lend what help you can with your spirit. Peace and love be with you all, knowing our Goddess gives her freely.

I challenge the readers of these journals to keep cloud diaries - tell what shapes and signs you see in the skies overhead so that, perhaps, we may learn from them. Clouds tell us a lot about our selves as well; what we see can reflect who we are at heart and what our minds first leap to when identifying images.

It's so odd when a thing is both natural and super-natural at the same time.

Ah but the outpouring of love and support for Mangata and attempts to purify her statue are so reassuring that no matter the odds, the people of Arx and our allies will band together to do what is right and good and pure.

Trying times bring out the best in people. The outpouring of love and devotion to cleanse Mangata of this latest attack has been reassuring. Faith in our people, faith in our Gods. This is how we will be victorious in our ongoing conflict. Faith that our forefathers left us the tools we'll need and faith that the Gods will guide us to them. I have nothing but confidence in our people and our allies.

Oh dearest Gods - I am saddened by what I witness at the statue of my beloved Mangata. Her beauty so tarnished by her enemies and their insidious evils. But I am so blessed as to receive an outpouring of help and love from all corners so we may find a way to combat this latest attack against Her by her enemies. May all of the Faith be so blessed and admired.

Please, for your own safety, do not attempt to touch the blight on the statue. It is wicked and beyond natural. The guards are a necessity because I know how people are curious and while you may want to help, I'd rather not have more injuries on my hands. Or your hands to be honest, my beloved children.

Speech dictated at the dedication of the Carlotta

"Mangata is more than the sea. She is more than the wind. She is more than rain. She is an essence of life. We cannot live without the rain to bless Petrichor’s lands. We cannot live without water to drink. We praise and bless her for her generous gifts and sing songs in her honor, letting the wind carry our words to her."

"Today we come to christen a new ship; a celebration of our minds to bring it to life and our bodies to bring it into being. Soon this magnificent vessel will sail Our Lady’s seas and become what it was meant to be, as all things strive to find their place and purpose. May all her waters be calm and her winds fair. May all her journeys be to swift, safe, and may she ever return whole to port. May Mangata ever smile upon the Carlotta and keep her in favor."

So, Scholar, what -have- I been doing with myself since returning to Arx?

Making new friends. Listening to lovely music. Enjoying the harbor beaches. Marveling at the statue. Paperwork, paperwork, and more paperwork.

I may need new sandals soon because these streets are not friendly to the bare of foot. But I will not wear shoes in Mangata's shrine if I can avoid it. Nothing like the feel of grass between your toes, or dipping your feet in the water and watching the fish scatter. So peaceful.

Boat blessings. One of my favorite things to write and perform, Goddess willing I can escape administrative work and attend them. No one told me being Archlector came with a desk full of paperwork. I just thought it meant my days at the beach were officially sanctioned and holy instead of 'slacking off'.

But boats. Such majestic things, how they float. They can carry wishes and prayers, death and destruction, or simply trade goods and foods.

Relationship Note on Daemon

Should she be chosen by the the Faith, she could become Mother Thena if ascended to Legate someday. So it's always possible. Just not a physical mother, alas. Our devotion must be to all our children in the Faith equally.

I could keep my nose out of this delightfully silly correspondence without adding my two silvers but I find it's more fun to meddle, my dears.

Relationship Note on Lucita

Blessed Mangata, smile on your servant Lucita for the sweet music she lets float on your breezes - may the rhythm of the wave and song of the wind ever inspire her, and may her beautiful art ever be shared for Your praise and worship.
