The wonderful Countess Thea has agreed to be my teacher in the ways of learning medicine. After some thoughtful consideration I thought that I should best spend my time learning something new in order to help others.
By no means do I think it will be easy. I'm not really steady with hands when it comes to poking someone with a needle. Do forgive me ahead of time. However, I think this will be a good lesson and experience, so as long as I don't commit to be Thea's partner in crime when it comes to troublemaking. It does sound fun though.

Relationship Note on Thea
At some point in this life, I was granted the opportunity to become friends with Thea. And I am fairly certain that between her and Neilda, I have aged some 20 years beyond my youth due to trying to keep them alive. Caring for someone as if they are family when they are as stubborn and as apt to sacrifice their own safety for another as yourself is a special kind of torment. You want to be proud of them for doing what is right, while also being angry that they would enter dangerous situations; the feeling of relief when you know they will be okay mingling with the gut-churning horror of realizing you could have lost them forever is so terribly human. But that feeling reminds you of what love is. In this case, love for a friend so close they may as well be your sister.
It's funny, isn't it? How we can be so frustrated with someone that we want to shake them until they fall apart, but if anyone else dares to speak against them, we would stop the shaking to take up sword in their defense?
And now I get to be "auntie Deia" again. I can remind little Lord Calo Wyvernheart how I welcomed him to the world when he is caught trying to put a newt in my cloak hood (look at his parents and tell me that won't happen). For every obnoxious gift Thea gives my children, I can now return the favor. Oh, this friendship may be the death of us both. But I know that Eswynd and Wyvernheart will be friends after we are gone as we raise our children together.

The newly proclaimed Countess Thea Wyrvenheart (nee Malvici) has quickly made a good impression on me. It is no surprise that a noblewoman of House Malvici would flourish in the Oathlands lest we forget Princess Caelis Valardin, wife of the now former High Lord, Prince Edain. Though she seemed a bit out of sorts, unsteady like a new born fawn in a role she was not prepared to take, I have all the confidence in her that she will succeed with great aplomb in her role and duty to the people of HighHill. I very much look forward to seeing the Countess again soon.

My former patron, my companion in mischief, my dear friend, the one who will turn my hair gray in conjunction with my sister, has been raised up and now is Countess of Highhill in the wake of her husband being granted the title of Count after his brother stepped aside.
There has been much change in her life these last months, which she has been rolling with quite well. I suppose it helps that she favors Lagoma. I may give her a hard time tutting after her and fussing like a mother, but I know she has a big heart and determination to do good for everyone she can. The people of Highhill will be well served by their new countess. And I'll do my best to serve them, too, by continuing to tut and fuss to keep her alive.

You know someone is a true friend when they agree to help with something with little information. Your sense of adventure and twisted humour never cease to make me smile. When our forces combine, it is like a raging storm, and I suspect there is nothing we cannot achieve. This should strike fear into the hearts of many, but in the end, I know they adore you, just as much as I do.

The Lady Thea taking me on as protege has been one of the most delightful surprises the city has delivered. It was nice enough to be reunited with my friend, but for her to have such belief in me is heartening. It's been a matter of days and already we're up to old (and new) tricks. What a blessing - for everyone.
