Relationship Note on Talia
Dear Talia,
I miss you more than I can even explain. There were so many things I wanted to tell you but never did, and I live with many regrets. But, perhaps you know it now, now that you have come to Death's home and await a new turn on the wheel.
I sorted out your will as you wanted it, but with one exception; I thought the steelsilk gown, A Visit from Inspiration, should not hang in my house for only me to see, so I have given it to the Disciples of Jayus so everyone can see your work, and to be inspired. I can go there and look at it whenever I want. Inspiration herself will understand this. I have many memories of her at my home already, so it is alright.
I kept the Mask of the Spider Maiden for myself. It is a good memory of you. I only have good memories of you, in fact, and for that, I am very glad.
I tend not to write things like this, since - despite that I am a follower of Death and all, I find the notion of wishing to meet again in another life a little strange, cause we're not the same person anyway - but I sincerely do wish that we do meet again, in another life.

Relationship Note on Talia
Today, Talia Baseborn will debut her heirloom dresses honoring the Mourning Isles, and among them will be a dress for House Redreef.
I look forward to seeing what aspects of my Barony's history and culture will be reflected in the design of the dress. My ladies-in-waiting seem to be unable to hold any other topic in their minds.
Even as I write this, they whisper a debate among themselves, attempting to decide what gown from my wardrobe I would look best in at the debut. I'll let them debate a while longer, but I've already chosen.

Although I still have reservations about the sigil our house inherited, I have to admit that she captured our juxta-contrast-ition perfectly. It's beautiful.. yet, a little hard to look at! I wonder how long it'll be before ALL houses are scrambling to have a Talia Baseborn original on display in their Great Halls, too. It's THE new status symbol.

The Northlands Collection of the Fashion of the Fealties was well worth the wait. The gowns were beautiful. Some were a bit more ostentatious than my own tastes run, but I was still well able to see the beauty in them, and how they were meant for the houses they were to go to. I, myself, am quite pleased with the gown made for Halfshav House. It is no secret that I am proud of our Rubicund, and this gown is just... glowing with it!
Thank you, Talia, for sharing your talents with all of us. I shall hope to be able to view the Thrax collection when it is debuted.

I went to see Talia Baseborn's gowns representing the north. They were AMAZING! I loved them! She captured us so well! Especially Ravenseye. Really! It was like us, on the ocean. Soaring. On a ship! You'd have to see it! Because I stink at words! But truly they were all fantastic!

Every time I step into Elegant Impressions to work out a new gown, I pause and gaze at the seraphim steelsilk gown there. I can't help myself. While I come up with the ideas for most of my clothing, that gown is beyond anything my imagination could have ever dreamed of. It is the pinnacle of dress design and craftsmanship, and my heart aches for it.
I have a particular relationship with clothing and fashion. When I was a child, I had nothing but castoffs and stolen items. I very purposefully had nothing anyone would want, because then I had nothing for them to take away. I dreamed of cloth that wasn't scratchy, of shirts and leggings without holes. Of sturdy shoes that didn't leak. I barely dared to dream about silk.
When I came to Arx, the first considerable bit of silver I came into was spent on a silk dress, slippers, and a bit of garnet jewelry to fit in places other than the Lowers. That's a story I've told many a time, and that clothing was a stepping stone toward the success I enjoy today. I gave up that dress for what I consider to be a good cause, but every other dress I've had made is tucked away in my suite at the College. I even wear them multiple times, to the horror of some. The jewelry, too, from the simple pieces I could afford when I was starting out to the epiphanite and dragonweep I have today. I can't throw them out. I still wear them. While I own a considerable amount of luxurious brocade, I also keep more common staples in my wardrobe. Items most commoners could afford, perhaps with a bit of saving, and I wear them proudly, because it shows that such expense isn't required to be fashionable, to be striking.
But that dress... that dress makes me not care if people can afford what I wear or not. I just want it. It is of such dizzying expense. Perhaps I could just try it on one day...?

In House Leary, she'll be remembered for the bars of alaricite she gifted me with that I might finally retire Eagle's Talon, or more likely for the weapon that alaricite becomes in fair short order.

The Heirloom gown for Laurent is simply magnificent as the others are for the Oathlands.
I had no doubt, being familiar with Talia's work that it will be and yet my jaw dropped upon seeing it.
The attention to detail and the capturing of essence is beyond compare. I love that honeybee.

I did not win the auction for the beautiful steelsilk gown. Almost, but it was not meant to be. I admit that it has never occurred to me to purchase a gown of such material, but it was too lovely to pass up the opportunity. What has happened though, is another opportunity and I can not thank the talented seamstress enough for her generous offer of giving the Lyceum a discount of things purchased at Elegant Impressions. I could not be more touched by her thoughtful proposal.
