Damn glad to see you back in the City, Nephew. I've got to say that you've picked up right where you left off, and a night of drinking is exactly how I wanted to spend your first day back. We've got many more Taverns to see, and people to meet ... likely trouble to cause, but hopefully not too much for Lydia.
You know if you need anything from me I'll be there straight away. You, Lydia, and Mydas carry much on your shoulders, but you don't need to do it between the three of you. Plenty of us are ready and willing to help. Don't be stubborn... at least this way.

Lord Sigurd is always fun to talk to! I'm kind of dubious about his claims to be able to drink me under the table (Redrain pride is at stake!) but an enthusiasm for going out and drinking and having a good time is always welcome, especially with everyone so gloomy as of late! Hopefully he will be able to put his troubles with Dame Morrighan to rest soon enough.

I have begun to know Sigurd better through his position as liaison between the Ministry of Defense and Redrain. In our talks, I have found him to be a reliable man with the best interests of the north and compact at heart. It's nice to be able to work through such serious topics with someone who can laugh at the absurdity of the world, too.

Met the Nightgold lord in the Spirits Inn and then a couple days later at the training center. Best fight I've had in a very long time. Though he put me on my ass, it could have probably gone the other way around. Gives me incentive to practice all the harder so I can win a rematch.

Relationship Note on Sigurd
What has it been? Five months since I met Gurdy? It feels longer. Sometimes it's hard to imagine that it's only been a short amount of time from when I strolled into The Spirits with his invitation to have a drink. It's rare to never that I turn down whiskey, or much of any liquor for that matter. The drinking game that ensued afterward carried on well into the late evening..or was it early morning? I don't remember. I just remember sending drunk letters to Freja and Kieran shoving glass after glass of water in my face. Regardless, it went on for a good long while, and neither of us were willing to admit defeat, so we kept drinking that awful shit until one of us couldn't stand anymore. Unfortunately for my pride, I was the first to drop. Barely. He dropped right after, so his victory was hardly a win, despite his protestations. I received a nice plaque afterward, though. From that day on it was an instant friendship. He's my best man friend. Drinking buddy. Sparring partner. I heard his Uncle once mention how he and Gurdy went drinking, and the tavern ended up burning down. I want to be that legendary whenever I'm old. It's very inspiring. Breaking a table isn't much in comparison.

I don't know what it is about Northerners that draws me in so swiftly. Their no nonsense, loyal, passionate demeanor suits me well I suppose.
Lord Sigurd is no different. He was appointed as the Redrain Liaison to the Ministry of Defense before I took the office and I am absolutely delighted by that decision, whoever it was that made it. He has been steadfast in his ability to give me clear, concise information. He has already been a sounding board for me in decisions that must be made. And he is rather pleasant company. I believe he has the makings of a fine commander in battle and I look forward to working with him more closely as time goes on.

I haven't had a chance to write about this. I meet Sigurd. He seems like a good man, him and his sister are fun to be around. Almost like home. I may have joked about him getting a tattoo which lead to us showing off our tattoos to one another. His are very well done. At least I can promise to my brother I didn't get naked in a bar!
I got a chance to spar against him. The man is like a mountain, but moves so quickly. I will get better and I will face him again and I won't end up laying on the ground with smelling salts being used to wake me up. Maybe one day I can knock him out!

A Nightgold Noble that seems to be quite skilled in the manner of combat. He seems a bit rough around the edges with his manners, but he also seems to be the kind of person that one should respect. Honorable, respectable. He's a bit different than I expect from a Redrain, but he is quite the interesting man to become acquainted with.

Relationship Note on Sigurd
It is hard to put to words how much I appreciate having a man at my side who I trust to explicitly, not only to keep me alive, but to take over any and all duties that I might otherwise perform, should I find myself unable to do so. I fear only that travelling with Sigurd more regularly could lead to me growing sloppy. There are worst things to fear.
