Relationship Note on Cybele

Cybele was a wonderful woman who gave her life for the Lodge. Before the lodge she often gave her time to others, training those who needed lessons in all sort of things for free. I am honored to have known her. She will be missed.

Relationship Note on Cybele

You were a force of nature who served the Faith for many years while keeping true to the Old Ways. I envy your ability to navigate both sides. When I struggle to walk my path, I shall visit your sapling as a reminder that being Faithful doesn't mean giving up your traditions.

Relationship Note on Cybele

I always intended to speak with Cybele again. They were a wonderful teacher and conversationalist.

I recall that I asked Cybele about their titles. Game as anything, Cybele rattled off this list that I can remember only the barest gist of, just barely completing the whole thing with an entire lungful of air. I was impressed by the recitation and said so. Cybele just said, “I practiced it.” The things they did, they just did, and were not impressed by. I was.

Anyway, I had intended to speak with Cybele again.

Relationship Note on Cybele

I am not ready to write this and I am not certain that I shall ever be. Writing implies a certain permanence absent in the spoken word. The wind may snatch the syllables from my mouth, conveying them far away but diminished in their strength within the stretch of meters and seconds.

A written word conveys preservation against the brunt of cruel time that erodes many things. Who among us can really say what the wind remembers and the sea recalls but Mangata? Yet in every loop of ink I engrave memory and perception that will withstand the diminishing of the years piled up against them. An odd sentiment, for the person I write of has a different legacy and a different place on the Wheel.

Cybele was one of the first people I encountered in Arx, one of the first lasting friendships I made back when no one much knew about me -- and many would look on the family name with raised eyebrows, regardless of the achievements of my relations. They looked deeper into a person and found something perhaps not immediately seen by others. There was never a sense of hubris or haughty judgment. Cybele watched the world through such a sense of serenity and purpose, a knowledge of what roots sank deep into the world and what was needful at the time. I am saddened our paths diverged more often than not in recent months, though I could always trust in wisdom badly sought being found upon my friend's lips, in a smile, in a kind gesture.

We are the poorer for the loss, and yet so much enriched. The presence of Cybele and Bashira in the new Grove is something that will inspire coming generations, new shaman and devotees of Petrichor who hear the story of their grand gestures and the lives they lived. I can say I knew Cybele, and shared much. I can say that such a sacrifice for others -- loving, strong, brave, and utterly certain -- fits in every way with the character I came to know.

Be you well, friend, and the spirits rejoice that you have touched so many.

Relationship Note on Cybele

It does not yet feel real. When I saw the reports that you had fallen, it was like the ground under me fell away. There is a hole in my world where you once stood, a glaring absence in a Cybele-shaped void. I know that you have returned to the arms of the Queen, and that she has welcomed you home -- at least I hope that you have. If not I promise... I promise to listen hard. I hope you knew how much I trusted you. How much I learned from you. I hope you know how treasured you are. Not were. Are. Your teachings, your gentleness, kindness will be at the forefront of my mind, and I will carry you with me to every student I teach, to every herb I make into a poultice, in every new face that I greet with the openness you helped teach me. I will not say you will be missed. For I will carry you with me, always. Non Omnis Moriar.

Relationship Note on Cybele

Cybele is gone? She will be sorely missed! Her wisdom, her advice, her hugs, her sharing of herself and willingness to let others share with her. She helped me become a stronger person, more capable of following my duty.

Relationship Note on Cybele

Cybele was a guide and a teacher to me while I was lost in turbulent waters. Cybele's concept of liminality, existing between, has remained an inspiration to me.

I still have so much to learn. I will miss them deeply.

The ability to hold to duty and function despite fussy twins, constant messenger distractions, physical discomfort and nausea, and the shadow of grief and feeling of loss and worry that conversations have persistently brought to mind shows me your lessons in strengthening willpower worked. Thank you.

That is always the most sound reasoning, Cybele - often the most safest one, I find. Legate Orazio has always been the most patient and kindest when it came to answering my questions and giving guidance on matters of the Faith.

Relationship Note on Cybele

Congratulations to Mercy Cybele Walker Inbetween of the Children of the Sun, the newest Voice for the Mercies of Lagoma of Arx.

I cannot think of a better choice for this important position. Mercy Cybele has done so much to help this city and it's peoples in times of need. I am sure that this hard work, devotion and fair judgment seen in past practice will result in most excellent representation in the future.

Well met, Princess Sophie Valardin. Well done, Mercy Cybele. Wising you much light, luck and love in your new position.

It's nice to see hard work and dedication rewarded so aptly.

Relationship Note on Cybele

On this, the 20th day of the 9th month of the year 1007 AR, let it be known that, by my hand and my will, Mercy Cybele Walker Inbetween of the Children of the Sun and the Moon is henceforth elevated to the position of Voice for the Mercies of Lagoma of Arx.

Mercy Cybele has been nothing less than a blessing, the utmost dedicated to the healing arts and upholding the tenets of Our Lady of Change. They have been integral to seeing the return of His Majesty, King Alaric IV's, return to wellness. They have sagaciously been lead instructor of our novitiates of Mercy, ensuring that they each ascend to the right to wear the mantle of a Mercy. They have repeatedly demonstrated their trustworthiness and devotedness as a confidant and colleague. They have proven themselves invaluable countless times and countless ways.

I am honored to have Mercy Cybele among the ranks of our holy order of healers and I am honored to see them so recognized.

In Faith and in service,
Princess Sophie Valardin, the Mother Mercy of Arx

Relationship Note on Cybele

When I first met Cy I didn't know what to think. There was confusion, having never heard of the Children of the Sun and the Moon. As time as passed we have grown closer and I find myself leaning on them for a great deal of support in all things, spiritual and otherwise. I am thankful to call Cy both friend and ally as we face down the abyss and strengthen our faith, not only for ourselves but for others. You make my duty a happy one.

Relationship Note on Cybele

Cybele is a very fascinating person that I've had the pleasure of meeting at one of the meetings of the mind some time ago. They're a very interesting person, and we've become quick friends. I must remember to spend more time with them in the future. Always good company, even though we always wind up just talking about business.

It is intriguing how that which is different sometimes blends so well with that which is very familiar. I cannot explain it; such tasks are not for me. But the shaman holds a key, and I would give much to know what now rather than find out later.

Relationship Note on Cybele

I met the Shaman at the Shrine of the Lost. The 'Walker Between' is unusual, but kind, and sang me one of the old songs of the north. Cybele seems a good source of knowledge for old stories and creation myths, one who might be very useful in my quest to craft new songs to sing.
