With Princess Viviana returning to Setarco for a time, I had resolved myself to spend some time without a patron. Instead, I quickly found myself in an exchange of letters with Lady Zoey Kennex, whose friendship I have greatly valued. She is respectful, careful, and quite lovely, and after a lovely little dance of words, we have reached an accord. I am pleased to announce that Lady Zoey is my new patron.

First and foremost in my mind on returning to Arx was to seek forgiveness from my daughter Zoey, for the undeserving cold treatment and distance I had imposed between us. I am blessed with the good fortune of being a grandfather. Now I aspire to demonstrate a grandfather's wisdom. Beginning with respect for my daughter's choices and her independence. Thank you for welcoming me back into your life, Zoey.

I spoke to Lord Ian Kennex recently to thank him for his efforts in the Red River Valley, and for the love of the gods and all of our senses of smell, I am hoping Lady Zoey might prevail upon her husband - at arrow point, if necessary - to either cleanse that foul and desecrated rag he calls a scarf in holy water, and lots and lots of whatever Marquessa Reigna accounts the most capable cleansing substance known to humanity, or burn it.
On second thought, I'm hoping she can just convince him to burn it.

It is beautiful to see families growing and flourishing in Arx.
And now, the Lady Zoe and Lord Ian of Kennex have welcomed a little girl into the world. How wonderful that must be.
I must admit in seeing such love and pride in other's eyes makes me wish for such blessings myself some days. But how odd that would be.
I am happy for those that have had such good fortune and send them wishes for much light, luck and love with hopes for a beautiful and fulsome life.

I had the delight of my niece's company at the morning concert at the Bard's College put on by Prince Talwyn and Master Evaristo with an accompanying performance by Lady Braith. Good music was had and even better news, what a wonderful way to begin the day!

Relationship Note on Zoey
While some might think it a silly idea, perhaps, I think a mock office would be both adorable as well as educational. Lord Darion has so many fine examples to learn from as well, between the Voices of your House, all of whom I have greatly enjoyed working alongside for some years now, to Lord Ian and, of course, the Marquessa Regent Octavia. While I was not raised to lead a House, as Lord Darion will be, I often accompanied my mother along on her more formal duties, as well as my father while he was still alive. I didn't always understand exactly what was going on, but I think it made the going-through-the-motions a little easier as I grew up; desks and offices and meetings weren't wholly unfamiliar. Maybe it is never too early to start.

She seems the perfect wife for Lord Ian. Patient, understanding, generous sharing his time with his duties and sailing, and a good helpmate with his ambitions toward his house. She is also very talented with her designs and a skilled archer. I'm glad am getting to know her better and even more glad we seem to get along well and like each other.
