Relationship Note on Sparte
He has a serious side, but he gets jobs done without ever being too overbearing. That's an important trait, really. He didn't seem to mind my request that his armored form would be the best at taking any potential hits that came our way. So maybe there's some heroic blood in him too. I can still smell the mint though. It's been a bloody week. Blessed be.

He's a green guy like me - and I'm calling him Angry Eyebrows - 'cause he was right. What good are nicknames if you don't use them face to face? I did. So, I think that means that I also get to use them in the Journals. Anyway, Angry Eyebrows shown me how to hammer out the dents in armor with this curved wooden block and a small hammer. He told me about how he burnt his eyebrows off while killing a Bringer. Which makes him less of a green guy than me - and that's okay. We introduced ourselves and had a talk about how pushing yourself to the limit - whether you break, or not - is a good thing.
I'm gonna do that. Push myself. Bend not break.

I remember meeting the kid coming into Arx pretty much fresh off the farm, wide-eyed as can be. Now half the time I turn around I see him down in the Lowers and up on the wall whacking Bringers like an old veteran with that big sword of his.
They better appreciate him in the Iron Guard! He's come a long way.

Some people react to real combat by withering in on themselves or tensing so much they look ready to snap at any moment. And others, those born for the rush of conflict, whether they take joy in that calling or not, are more themselves in those frantic moments than any other time in their lives.
I knew Spar would be a kindred spirit, but didn't know just how much so until I saw him play wiseass to the face of an angry Bringer beserker.
I love this kid. We need to find him more deadly enounters to be flung into. His humor during them is a gift to the world.

I don't think I'll be able to find a man more sincere than Sparte. He is a good man who doesn't pretend to be more than who he is, but he has plenty of potential to be much more than anyone expects. I genuinely look forward to what the future has in store for him and the Iron Guard couldn't ask for a better soldier.

This Guard is quite brave, even if he does not have pure skill. And his faith is astounding. I cherish him as a fellow member of the Iron Guard, and would stand beside him any day in a fight.

Relationship Note on Sparte
After a long night of patrols through the lowers, I took a chance at the Training Center to get a relaxing spar in. Thankfully, Sparte was there and he was happy to accommodate me.
The man has improved greatly. Faster, he met me point for point, dealt me some serious blows that drove me to my knees and even then, gave me a moment, of his own accord, to catch my breath.
Made no difference. In the end, we were well matched and he finally got me. It was a great fight. Wow!

Young. Eager. Optimistic. Nervous around nobles but, nevertheless, determined to succeed; I saw him practicing while wounded. I think he's going to be good for the Iron Guard.
