Relationship Note on Ras

It takes a great deal of courage to be the man that you are growing to be. You take the opportunities missed by most people, and your risks will lead, and have led, to great accomplishment. You will fall, as we all do, but my hope is that you continue to rise again and again, to plant the seeds of the future you believe in.

Whiskey Kisses. It's the perfect scent for me, and he is the best friend in the world for the most fitting gift. I'll have to send something in return. Just not another dagger.

When we arrived at Farmorn Point, in my heart of hearts, I thought our task impossible. There were already so many envoys, a plethora of barriers in our path. But one by one, my companions cut through them, tore them down as if they'd never existed at all.

Ras, whose investigative skills are beyond compare, and whose contacts, employed by Prince Sebastian Pravus, finally found us the way forward.

Delia and Anisha Whisper, whose flawless diplomacy, charm and grace secured that dangerous path out to the Eurusi ships (there may have been a hint of bribery, too; I don't judge), and swayed the hardened hearts and minds of soldiers who else would have slain us.

Argus the Cruel, you hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for the loan of your ship.

To the Marquis Dante DiFidante. Your letter changed the tides, my friend. I still don't know what was in it, but whatever it was was inestimably important. I hope the news carries to Eurus to those there who will receive your efforts with love and gratitude.

Lady Alessia Mazetti, to whom I owe my life, and the life of His Royal Highness, Prince Damik'uhl'daja. How you knew his brother's forces would attack, before I think even they knew they would attack, will, I suspect, remain forever a mystery to me. But I will never forget it.

Nor will I forget the way Lady Alessia and Prince Sebastian Pravus fought, back to back, in a grim defiance of the odds against us, in defense of our lives, and in defense of the Compact forces, though we knew it not at the time.

It was not until the deck was quiet and the day won for us by your bravery, my friends, that we saw the smoke rising from Sungreet, the obvious battle raging in the distance. Templars and Knights of Solace and slaves fighting desperately against mages and adepts from Eurus, battling valiantly against Helianthus and the forces of Prince Galik'uhl'daja. We saw the horrifying damage done, the Compact forces on the verge of being completely destroyed.

And you, who had put your lives on the line already to secure the aid of Prince Damik'uhl'daja, did not hesitate as we turned our forces to their rescue. And for that, I, and the Compact, owe you great thanks. You have not been lauded as heroes and heroines of Sungreet for no reason, but because in the face of fear you chose instead the courage to continue, and to triumph.

But we did not all continue. Duke Ansel Telmar, who lent guards to my effort, and lost them. I am grateful for your trust, for those souls who lost their lives in my defense. They will be remembered and honored properly. And to Swift Grayhope. There are so many things I will remember. May your next incarnation be as exciting as this one was.

My appreciation for each and every one of you is endless, reaffirming that it is not where you are in life that matters, but who you have by your side. You believed in this crazy plot of mine when so many didn't. And I have learned now, because of you, that critics are loud, but success is deafening.

Thank you. I will remember.

I found my misplaced copy of the first part of Salacious Breadcrumbs!

But fortune is not done with me for now I have been gifted FOUR copies of The Baron and the Salacious Breadcrumb, Pt. 3! FOUR! I still do not know the identity of the author, but I am grateful to them nonetheless, for this newest read. It's... titillating. Even more so than the first two, and I admit, when the delivery of the box of scones and books came for me, I was caught red-handed re-reading part two.

Now, one of the copies of the Salacious Part 3 will be put in the fiction shelves of the library, along with its counterparts, for all to enjoy, and one has already been spoken for, with the amount being donated in full to the Crafters Guild. That leaves two copies. And these two copies, I have been given leave to set the price at whatever I wish, by the author. A dangerous prospect, to be sure. But I think that 100,000 silver each is enough.

Now, the proceeds from the first book will be donated entirely to the Crafters Guild, and the proceeds from the second will be donated to a charity cause that I will announce as soon as I hear back from a certain noble someone.

Goodness, I love authors! Especially exceptionally talented authors with a distinct sense of mischief and a penchant for wicked innuendo. Together, indeed. Hah!

It wouldn't be a party in Setarco without a poisoning, would it? I have felt the very first glimmer of gratitude to be abstinent from alcohol. Just a faint glimmer, mind you, but a warmth nonetheless.

This year's Queen of Thorns was Princess Lucrezia Pravus! She put in a truly fantastical showing at the Tournament of Thorns and has claimed the prize of a favor from the Twilight Court.

Claiming second place was ArchDuchess-Regent Jaenelle Velenosa, winning a truly splendid steelsilk cloak.

And earning third, Lady Juliana Igniseri, who took home a stunning pyreweave cloak.

The event was a wonderful evening, surrounded by the breathtaking skill of the courtiers of Arvum. My gratitude is boundless to those who showed up, who stayed to compete. And too, I could not have done this without the Committee of Thorns, for their tireless effort to make this vision a grand reality. Thank you.
