The masquerade at the Velenosa Ballroom was delightful. No one dropped dead at my feet, none of the fabric plant accents misbehaved, nor did any of the attendees...at least so far as I could tell. The hostess was charming and took time to talk and dance. I hated to leave early, but sadly, duty called.

At last, a good soaking bath and shampoo, (and yes, I kept my stitches dry as instructed by the kind Mercies who took care of me) and time to think over what happened during that horrible battle, and try to think about what occurred while I was unconscious. I am so glad I searched the Tower for a marriage contract between Arcella and the traitor Turo and when unable to find it, consulted Archlectors Giada and Ilven who were also unable to locate copies in the Faith vaults. There was no knowledge of any contract clause that would require me to provide aid to them, and for that am glad.

When I look at some of the patients in Saving Grace Hospital, I marvel at what our talented physicians and medics can accomplish and at the patients with such endurance and stamina and determination to not let some of those horrid wounds become fatal.

I look at the spotlessly clean floors, the windows missing smeared fingerprints, the crumb-less table, and the pristine flower beds lacking little footprints and smashed areas and miss my children dreadfully. The servants have been having an easier time of it while they are in Saikland, but seem to miss them, too. They brighten the tower up so much with their mischief and laughter.

So many possible small weapons. It is amazing to see the variety of pointy or stabby or slashy or bashy or pokey or clawy things. Some of them even purr and have a demanding appetite. Imagine what an effective small weapon some of those felines that one sees around Arx would make if tossed in an opponent's face, claws extended and a toothy snarl at the indignity of it all.
