Losing the race and the swimming to Reese was almost worth it for the bet paid. And by gods she's sexy when she's kicking ass. She's grown so much in the past year I can't even believe it sometimes. Not that I'll give her an easy time at the tourney concluding this all.

Princess Reese Grayson is someone Archeron has respected from afar - as minister of war for the Grayson, he knew of her in his time with the rangers out of Ashford. He had the chance to meet her in the city and she was most cordial, but more importantly seemed happy to welcome him on excursions and patrols into the woods. This is a useful link that Archeron will have to pursue.

I'd lie if I said I love that Ribbons is fighting this duel rather than me. Even a friendly duel, there's always that small risk of something going wrong, and Vic's a beast. Still, she's one of the absolute best I know with a blade and she'll be bearing my best rubicund and my heart along with hers, so we'll face him together in that sense. She'll do both me and her House proud, I'm absolutely sure of that.

Three times I've fought with Princess Reese against the Silence and Brand's army: we stood together at Pridehall, in the river battle, and during the final siege. And every time I've known that she watched my back as surely as I watched hers, even though she was a Princess, and she had thousands of other people to look out for, too. She's everything a Princess should be in command.
When I was called to help reinforce the Redrain ward before it fell, I didn't hesitate, because I felt confident under her command. (Maybe I should've hesitated, and gotten permission from the Deepwood commanders, but next time I'll remember that!!) She led from the front, always, never afraid to take on the same risks that the rest of us ran.
Lucky or blessed or just very, very good, we came through every engagement. I've fought giants. I turned defeat into victory. I've saved her, and she's saved me, and I can't even keep score any more except to acknowledge that there's a debt there, a debt that goes both ways, and it's not even a burden -- it's a bond.
It's funny how chance took me to Deepwood, to the Marquessa, to Bisland and to Grayson above, and how I could have just as easily landed anywhere else. But I'm always grateful that I am where I am. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

I, Prince Luca Velenosa, Master at Arms of the Champions, Shield of the Mirrorguard, layabout naked duelist, lazy dresser, and collector of Bringer skulls, do take Princess Ribbons - Reese Grayson to all you other people - to be my wife for as long as we both shall live.
I vow to watch her back both in battle and when she's walking away from me with that little...ahem, anyways, and to always let her help keep me safe in turn, even if it's from myself.
I vow to help her expand her experiences and find the many wonderful things in the world worth enjoying outside of combat. I promise further to never hold her back from her desires unless it is for her own good - even though she could use a few bad decisions and hungover mornings to build character, so those might slip through!
I will be the blade to stand guard over her heart and let her watch over mine in turn.
I'll seek to keep her grounded in reality even when its grim, but let her inspire me to break out of my apathy and strive higher alongside her.

I can't believe it's all approved and this is actually a thing that's happening. Ribbons will be my wife and I'll be Luca Grayson. It just sounds bizarre to my ears, but I am happier than I've been in...far, far too long.
I do think I'll need some nice sobriquet like Val got when she went Redrain.

She was named Princess Ribbons to me. Her colours are bright, in the forest she would be seen for a very long way because of them but I think it would be no bad thing for her. She sees clearly. She sees me as people, she sees the Gold Feathers as what they are. She is the first to say, "Peregrine, what do you think about this?" and not only once. I like this Princess Ribbons. When Calarian says, "Soft is not weakness," it is this one I think of.

I've heard through the gossips that Princess Reese may very well be getting married soon. This is wonderful news! She is a stalwart defender of...it often seems like everything. No cause is beneath her willingness to serve it and that is what the Compact needs. Even during my time as part of the King's Own, she would regularly visit with me in order to discuss the news of the day and to keep the knights of the Crown informed. To know that, amidst all of the turmoil of the day, that she is still looking to social obligations as an important detail of life and her own potential happiness? Great news indeed.
Further, such news can be found to be inspiring. To know that others are so confident that the siege will eventually break and that life will, someday, return to normal and they are planning accordingly for such? It is an inspirational sign that will grant hope for the future. Absolutely a bold move and one that I believe will ultimately result in uplifting the spirits of many.
