I'm currently working with several people to expand the Raconteur Enterprises into yet more parts of Arvum. For those whom do not know, I am looking to forge means across Arvum to employee people as brewers, to give fun and near-free entertainment as part of the Kismet Carnivals to remind everyone in these trying times that there is still a means of enjoying yourself and finding inspiring stories of hope. Other things are afloat, as well. If you are interested in a partnership that will bring work to the people of your land, and will favor your local regional skills and ingredients in cultivating something unique for your people? Consider this an open offer to reach out.

Relationship Note on Amari

It would seem, in such situations, the wisest path is to save the scream, and let it all out after the bugs are dealt with. (or after they've eaten you... which I'm presuming did not happen, given your journal entry.)

Relationship Note on Nuala

I recall my arrival here, in a high stakes game of gambling at the Hart. It depends upon how you play: those skilled would say it depends upon your opponents and the lay of the cards upon the table. Those of wits would say it depends on how well you might bluff in the moment. I? As a man of luck, I'd say go all in regardless. Live in the moment, and let the rest of the cards fall where they might, trusting that they will favor you. In some cases, losing can prove just as intriguing as winning, I've found.

Winter will soon be here, and I find myself far too much behind in putting together the line up for the coldest of months. It isn't because of a lack of choices, but rather too many. So many will be looking for ways to keep warm, and there are ample options. I'm most looking forward to putting out a form of hot chocolate... one that is pleasantly alcoholic in nature, of course, with just the right touches to make it memorable.

Relationship Note on Chiara

It is rare, in all of my travels, to meet faces that I have known in different places. Certainly I've returned to certain cities and villages more than once, finding a soul or two here and there repeatedly. But in a different time and town all together? Well, such is the case with Mistress Chiara, who has recently come to give a helping hand, to of all people, my very own patron. Her luck can nearly (but not quite) compete with my own, though I am quite certain she generates far more mischief than I could ever hope to accomplish.

What feels like endless weeks of work have come to fruition, and I wish to write down my thanks for all of the great houses across Arvum that participated in the creation of a network of breweries and carnivals across their lands. While it is but the first few steps, the relationships forged with Halfshav, Redrain, Thrax, Malespero, Mazetti, Velenosa, Deepwood and Keaton will be long lasting, I am certain. You all have a free few rounds of drinks waiting for you at the Raconteur whenever you wish them.

Nonsense, Guild Mistress. Drinking can fix many things. You just need the right drink to enjoy with the right company. I'll prove you wrong yet on this particular matter.

Relationship Note on Cambria

I knew a fellow once who would only read the very last couple of sentences of a missive. 'Venturo,' he would tell me, 'it's only at the end that people get to what they want from you.' Once, he skipped past a missive whose last lines were a plea for money from his sister, dismissing it as yet another attempt to grab what silver he'd been able to save over the years from what he led me to believe was a greedy member of his family. Later, he'd find out, it was an askance to help tend to their mother who had grown ill, and only when news of her death came to him did he understand the consequences of that choice. From that point forward? He read each and every word of the messages that came his way.

I wonder if our whites aren't the same way. Should someone only read a snapshot in time of what we document, what wrong assumptions might they jump to? Are we best off to keep such detailed notes that our whole life might be explained, for fear of being captured wrong for all of posterity? Or are we best off leaving that mystery, keeping to only the important parts and let the future read into it what they will.

Relationship Note on Drifa

Well, some might claim me biased in my accounting, but my recommendation would be to go to the southwest corner of the Compact Ward, and visit the Raconteur. You'll find all manners of interesting drinks to sate your thirst there, and a good story or two to go with them.

Relationship Note on Orazio

The crotchety old Master I apprenticed with to learn the fine art of brewing had an idea of lessons: watch you fail, punish you, and then give short snippets of wisdom you had to dissect. I won't write down the particulars of the story that led to this little slice of wisdom, and I'll leave out a bit of the more colorful language he utilized, but in essence he said: 'Venturo, make it for the people you don't see, not the ones you do.' While we have yet to meet face to face, I know the Legate has had the opportunity to become intimately familiar with my craft. It is my intent that every drink crafted has such a compelling story in both its name and the taste to back it up, that you never need actually meet me to understand who I am, and the quality put into the craft. The Legate's help in an endeavor has been invaluable, and I appreciate both his assistance and his own appreciation for a good drink.

Relationship Note on Khanne

The truth is a difficult thing to pin down, and is the omission of it the same as dishonesty? Would you tell someone you hardly know all of your intimate secrets? Beyond that, as a story teller, one must always be able to read their audience, and to determine what appeals to them in the moment: this is not the same as lies, for these small omissions are for the sake of brevity, to keep them engaged, and to get to the point of what matters to them. Fear and embarrassment are two other reasons lies might be had... it isn't always about a purposeful deceit, I do not think.

Fall is always a special time of the year, I've found. Personally, there is something to relish in the rolling clouds that balance perfectly the heat of summer and cold of winter. Professionally, it brings a rich selection of fall crops that are more difficult to work with, yet are all the more rewarding in finding the right mixture of ingredients to create delightful drinks.

The Raconteur's fall tap list has been put out, with something to help you either embrace these dreary days, or to give you something to chase away the clouds and warm the soul.

Relationship Note on Alarissa

I have been blessed with many fine customers within the city of Arx, but the Princess Alarissa is one whose dogged investment in collecting as much of my alcohol as possible goes above and beyond. It isn't just this determination she shows in the collection of drink, but also in applying her will to projects that will benefit her lands, and in this? I think we have a mutual opportunity for partnership.

Relationship Note on Kael

Early in my life, as I was scavenging for enough coin to survive to the next day, I came across a man who could spin the most fantastic stories. He is, in no small part, where my own love of this art form has come from, undoubtedly. Day after day, for weeks on end, I'd take my meager bread and soup and sit with him in the hole in a wall, run down and vacated building that many called home. And always I'd be fascinated by not just the words he used, but his subject matter. Never was it simply dry facts, and never was it mere gossip. It was life experiences, told in such a way that any street urchin of a boy like me could understand. The best stories are ones that we have lived and can translate into emotional connections with others.

Far too often in my work here in Arx, I find my eyes glazed over reading through ledgers, reviewing trade deals that drip with such dryness I might as well be in the desert. I'd written to the Count and Countess of Keaton about a potential business arrangement. These matters? Are just a necessity of what one must do to arrange the best ingredients and work for a brewery. I had, in truth, expected yet another of those understandably dry, factual encounters, but to my delight? What I read was as good as any story I might tell. It still contained all of the important information -- but the context the Count painted for me made it clear that his lands, people and trade? Are something he has experienced first hand, not just seen as words upon a piece of paper. It allowed me to far more vividly picture and relate to what our potential arrangement might mean, and for that? I'm all the richer, without even having another silver in my pocket.

Relationship Note on Jonathan

Fear not, Master Fieldstone. I know first hand that Violet shall have more of her whiskey (and cider!) filling her office within the next day or two. Of course, what she chooses to do with it? I cannot say. Congratulations, by the way. Even for a man such as myself who lives in the moment, a surprise marriage is more than I could manage. Best wishes to along, healthy and lucky life to you and your wife.

Relationship Note on Reigna

You and your husband certainly know how to throw a party that has created memories -- and stories -- that will last for years to come. It delights me to have been a small part of it all, in providing the drink and an item for your raffle, and Ferric will have a special place in my heart, that paradoxical little goat. In retrospect, with such an ironically inclined goat, I should have known better than to try to tempt him with the expected -- a cloak of goat meat would have been more to his liking, I bet.

Relationship Note on Sabella

It is certainly because of it, princess. Do I not always tell you how difficult it is to tell a hopeful story without an element of despair, to tell a love story that does not involve heartbreak or sorrow? Our lives are so much richer for experiencing these bad elements, because they make the good ones so much brighter in contrast.

Relationship Note on Gwenna

After a series of conspiring messengers, I finally had the opportunity to meet Princess Charm, and she did not disappoint. I am, however, extremely suspicious of her having the greatest spy network in all of Arx. Only fifteen minutes after her arrival, the Raconteur was swarmed by princesses. I've checked to see if some specially colored lantern had been set out. Really, the only thing that gives me a moment of doubt to her secret agent nature? Is that princess Sabella didn't show up. Regardless, if there is ever an urgent crisis in Arx that can only be solved by the combined might of the princesses being in the same place, at the same time? She is the one to notify.

Relationship Note on Terese

In my travels, I've seen many things. From the mundane to the outlandish, the sensible to the crazy. I always try to keep my senses open to the world around me, to allow for new experiences and trials, however luck might put them before me. And yet, it is still a difficult thing to consistently surprise me. Despite this, the Princess Terese has pleasantly rose to the challenge. Do not get me wrong, it is nothing grand: but it is the small things in life that create a sense of wonderment, to understand and see the layers we all potentially hide beneath the surface of the exterior our position demands of us. It has been a vivid reminder to not judge a book by it's cover alone, a trap I'm happy not to have fallen into.
