For some reason, I believe I thought the name of our King was Alarizard. Perhaps I've had too much tea.

I'm glad to hear that you didn't die from that unfortunate mishap with the stairs. We would be bereft without you, I am certain. It sounds like your sister got the better end of that wager.

The Scholar hats are a nice suggestion. We should look into what can be done to make actual Scholars more easy to recognize.

Please send me the name of this scholar who lost your journal entry. We will have words. This sounds highly suspect. A Scholar's first duty is to safeguard the words of gods and men.

By the end my disagreement with the Lord in question had little to do with starving children and more to do with the place of nobility to use our station to raise others up. Losing my temper really didn't help that.

I also very much doubt Redreef has anything that would be enough for courtship of any type.

I'd like to note, dear brother, that I was arguing in favor of nuance, not necessarily theft. Justice as I've grown to understand it requires that we consider the need of the starving child as well as the baker. It's also important to remember the wording of the philosophical question was not "is it lawful to steal to feed a starving child" but rather "is it just?"

It is certainly not lawful, but whether or not it is just depends on a lot of issues not listed in the question.

I feel you are trying to separate 'challenges' from 'duels', as if the two were separate things. They are not, however, in the context you are trying to separate them. A challenge, once named, with terms and Champions, is a -duel of honor-. You cannot force a thing to be something it is not just because it suits your whims, Your Highness. These are the rules by which duels have occurred since time immemorial. You claim that duels have been fought in the past by non-combat means, I then challenge you to bring forth proof of this. See how I use 'challenge' in its proper place to denote it not being a duel? I challenge -you- to bring forth proof of your claim. I do not need a Champion and there are no terms.

Relationship Note on Niklas

My patron is, in his generosity, a sadist.

Owing to Prince Niklas' mordant humour and purportedly benevolent sagacity, I now have in my employ a girl with more pent up energy and a stronger desire to fetch than my spaniel, Octavian. What's more, he's gone to the effort of securing the services of someone who is endlessly pleased to have a name rhyming with mine. Apparently, this is fate.

If, Patron-mine, this woman knocks on my door before the break of dawn, I will train Steve to eat your coronet.

You have been warned.

You may be the most imaginative soul I've met in a long time. A sirocco of a man gone blowing wild through the world, mayhap restless oft.

But I owe you three points of gratitude I'll declare. One, the meeting with your lovely and generous wife. Two, the introduction to another fellow scholar. Three, the connection with fellow bibliophile, Princess Reese.

And you made me laugh. You are owed a box of pastries. Name your flavours.

I still haven't seen that painting, you know, although I can name a few people who would dearly love to hang it in their water closet so they can gaze upon it each time they use the chamberpot.

Why am I being shown two of your journals? One is quite enough. In any case, my thoughts on your meditative abilities might surprise you, but then again I did (despite my best efforts) grant you admission into the Society of Explorers based partially on your ability to keep a cool head.

At the very least, though, you should spend some time refining that skill. In silence.

As one of the people who's both brought life into the world in the form of a child and kept life in the world in the form of changing the tide of battle, I can tell you that ordinary "magic" neither diminishes nor is diminished by extraordinary magic.

Also, there are a lot more people who appreciate the spellsinging than the baby, because it literally helped keep them and their comrades alive. During battle. Which you were not present for.

Hopefully you were present for the conception of your baby; I mean, Sabella does seem to like you an awful lot, and the rest of us put up with you on her behalf.

Congratulations for successfully achieving something that it seems like your wife planned and pursued with minimal input on your part.

Do you mean all of that figuratively or literally, your Highness? Because I am fairly certain that with that chorus of three (Baroness Lucita among them --) they could accomplish the same.
