A very lovely gala held by Princess Valencia! I saw many people I know and met quite a few new ones. It was a wonderful party, and the decor of that hidden garden was incredibly well thought. I should like to visit there again, perhaps privately sometime, and enjoy it during a quiet moment. If there is ever any such thing at the Golden Hart.

I managed to win something at Prince Ainsley's charity night of fun and games. I am amused and at the same time happy about it. It is interesting how winning something brings a bit more joy to the world, even if it's a delicate perfume and a pair of coral hair pins.

This evening, I was given some good news. I suppose I ought not write about it, since it's not official or anything and it's not like these journals are private. There, I won't say what it is, not yet. But it was good to sit by the hearth and chat with cousin Alban for some time. I am glad he is back to himself once more. That is one thing less to worry over.

Such a day - the racing was exciting to watch. All those athletic people doing their best to win across the finish line first. Also today, I met Prince Barric and I worked to further our trade outlook, helping others where I can. I have found that there is something to be said for working with others to improve trade around the compact. I won't say I am good at it, really, but it is something that maybe I can chip away at.

Today there was court. It was a lot more casual than I expected it to be, but perhaps it was just because it was the first one after the pirate king and the battles faced so bravely by all the knights and soldiers. I shall have to attend another to be sure.

A late night last night, with all that happened. Congratulations to Grand Master Thena, and my sympathies to all who have lost family and friends. News has come that my brother Armand is one of the fallen. I have no words. I think I will go find a quiet place to meditate for a bit.

And so we said farewell to Alban, as he sets off to battle. I really hope he comes back for many reason. He has become a mentor of sorts, like my big brother. I am sure that Ryhalt will approve. Though it does mean that he, Ryhalt that is, is not my only Hero any more.

I went to the debate on why we fight not too long ago. It is fascinating to hear all the reasons that people fight and why they think others might. Hopefully others found my own words thought inspiring at the least. And I have been given a recommendation on some good history books, to be found at the Gilded Page. Must remember to stop by and look for the books by Wynna Blackwing.

I found my way back to the Ambassador Salon and met the Marquis of house Leary and his brother. There are so many new friends to make, and so many stories both to tell and to learn from others. I am excited to be back in Arx.
