She'll hate reading this, but if someone asked me to point out one of the most inspiring and truly exceptional people in all of Arx, Dame Allenatore would be one of my immediate choices. Integrity, humility, intelligence, bravery and optimism are all facets that make up this rather remarkable knight, and her devotion to Petrichor and His domain is to be admired. Someone I am honored to know.

A woman of whom I think very highly said that sometimes the best course of action is to say nothing at all when I initially picked up a quill to pen a reaction to the Dominus' decision. However, I think that that with some time to cool down I've only a simple thing to say on it, something that saddens me immensely.
I was preparing to join a Discipleship myself, but I would no sooner give up the spirits than the gods. As an extremely devout follower of both, I count myself fortunate that I hadn't yet become a disciple, and would have had to resign it, like so many friends have had to do so painfully. And now we are weaker when we need to be stronger.

Lady Elara's shocking demise reminded me of a certain problem I keep realizing, yet never truly get around to solving - finding some things more urgent than others, then regretting it deeply when those latter doors are shut forever. I had only met her a couple of times, but she had left a most interesting impression as someone who was far more than she appeared or let on, and I kept meaning to send a letter to set up an appointment to speak with her at length, as I am wont to do. But between my poor memory and priorities, that opportunity is forever lost. And, as indicated earlier, far from the first time this has happened.
Will I learn this time? Doubtful.

I commissioned a new set of clothing from Dame Morrighan a couple of weeks ago, and today she finished and delivered it to me. I couldn't possibly be more pleased with the work she did, and it was worth every silver and then some. To say it was exquisitely made is to be laughably understated. Her meticulous eye for detail really comes through.
Speaking of which, an amulet which I had commissioned by Guildmistress Joscelin was also absolutely stunning, and if I had only one piece of jewelry I could choose to ever wear, it would be this. I can see why her skills are in such high demand, given the artwork she produces, and I am quite proud to wear it - and refer her to others. Like Dame Morrighan, one cannot go wrong with Guildmistress Joscelin's creations.
Lastly, Dame Alexis made me a breastplate worthy of battle and show, and it perfectly reflects the pride I have in my House along with a sort of aesthetic one rarely sees in a piece of armor - it is both splendidly crafted and very protective. Rubicund is a difficult metal to work with, so all the more impressive on her part.

As one could probably expect, the decision to simplify my life in some respects has brought a sort of calm I've not known since arriving in Arx. I still manage to offend people on a semi-regular basis - just less often, since I'm now often in the woods or in the company of people not likely to cause much in the way of trouble.
The activity in the Gold Order has been quite pleasing, and under Dame Alexis' guidance and with Princess Gwenna Redrain assisting us in all matters not martial - because, let's face it, I doubt any of us are very adept with methods of persuasion and finance that don't require swinging a weapon at something - I look forward to seeing where it shall go.

Originally having sought out the Archscholar for a specific reason, what went from a fairly short discussion has grown into frequent, lengthy talks about the nature of many things. Her wisdom and intelligence and breadth of knowledge are astounding, and I have learned more from her in a short time than I have in years. So much that was muddled or confusing is now illuminated with utter clarity, and her method of making me consider not only my choices, but also how to better understand myself, is no small feat. I am honored to consider her a friend, and easily the most inspirational person I happen to know in Arx.

Not getting around to much until around the time of the duel, I didn't expect a lot from the rest of the day - (note: duel was missed in favor of an interesting meeting) - but sometimes life can still surprise. I loathe to use a term that seems so cliche as 'kindred spirit', yet that is precisely what I ran into tonight, someone who surprised me a great deal with their wisdom and understanding, great love for one whom I also adored and admired, and deep appreciation for the forests and nature as a whole. The beginning of a most intriguing and rewarding friendship, I suspect.

With great relief and gratitude for the health of all three babies and their mothers, I would like to welcome Prince Fergus Kristoph Redrain, Prince Valen Frey Redrain, and Princess Eirlys Valardin into the family. I have cousins of which I am already proud, these three will undoubtedly prove to be no exception.
May their mothers recover swiftly and well, and the nurses the chance to allow them to do so.

For putting on the recent Sword ceremony, I would like to most heartily thank my cousins Monique and Simone, who put in a lot of effort to see it turn out well - and that it did. Also, I was quite grateful for the support of all of my family and friends, present or not, for their confidence in me. Finally, I am grateful to those guests who came, whether I knew them or not, to bear witness to the occasion, as well as take part in the contests.
I am also very happy I didn't drop Dusk and impale my foot, which was my greatest worry of all.
Following in the footsteps of my two legendary cousins, Eirlys and Niamh, is an honor, and to do honor to their memories I will strive towards doing the utmost with which has been granted to me.
