You know what's been the biggest surprise since I arrived in Arx? This guy.
He went from being a really really really distant cousin I barely knew to one of my closest friends and allies.
I don't know what I'd do without him.
Also he showers me with presents. He's so thoughtful!

After a chance meeting with the kind Duke in the Market, I was quite taken back by how earnest and diligent he is as a man.
Truly, where there is need, the Duke steps in and works it himself. He required a bit of help with the treasury and, well, rather than pay someone to see to it has been learning. Good trait to have in a leader for House Shepherd.

I met Lord Shepherd today, officially, and he's exactly what I expected him to be. While his mantle is new and his responsibilities much, he isn't buckling beneath the strain, rather rising up to meet these new challenges as Mongoose does when she's ready to greet the day. It is natural to him, he does what he must because he must, and he takes pride in it. While I've seen it in others, it's still always refreshing to see, giving a measure of hope that the future is in good hands. I look forward to seeing what he makes of his new roles, as much as I hope to support him those endeavors as well.

My cousin is new to being duke. Or being a noble. Or having responsibilities, I think. But he's doing a very good job in ways that Duke Gregor never would have dreamed of. Or tolerated. Or spoken of with anything but that weird grinding sound his teeth made. I kind of admire him for it.
