Reading your laughter, I can hear it still, nearly maniacal. Perhaps simply giddy, matching my own excitement. I'm fairly certain I ought to be more afraid than I am, but I rather find myself looking forward to this.
I blame the snow. When one looks out at all that endless white for so long, it's easy to lose sense of time, place, self. I may be momentarily mad.

My Sister
Some short time ago she was tending to a great blight on the land. It was night and a mountain lioness tainted by the corruption lept from the shadows. I saw it, I dove, and down we went. Eventually, while I was being nearly mauled to death she put an arrow through its throat and Mirk rallied the soldiers to stab it before hauling it off me. It was very big.
I recount this story because while I may dive headlong into danger (and other things) for my family or due my own mistakes. My family is always there to see that it does not end in disaster.
Also for those curious she has not stabbed me or bludgeoned me with her new staff. I must be doing something right?

I can hardly take credit for a design you so perfectly described, it was like having it right before me as a guide to create them! I could not have managed that swirl without your assistance and I must say, they are one of the more detailed pieces I've ever attempted. I truly could not be happier that you love them! You always have incredible design ideas that both challenge and inspire me. For that, I am quite grateful.

I have two brothers. One is dead. The other is fifteen years my junior, and afflicted with the same wanderlust as me. We haven't seen each other in years, but we've never been close to begin with. Perhaps one day he'll rejoin us in Arx. If nothing else, we can commiserate about how much quieter it was before coming here.
P.S. Khanne - The only time I'm surprised at Arik's lack of tact is when I thought he was asleep. Any other time the inevitable will happen, usually sooner rather than later.

That was very beautiful and inspiring to read. You have a lovely way with words. I've experienced a number of these precious moments, but I'd never be able to put them to writing as well as you do.
I would also add that there can indeed be a certain unexpected perfection to supposed imperfection. An accidental smudge or drip of paint on canvas can add charm and character to the work rather than consigning it to ruin. A rain shower in spring that washes out a picnic, forcing everyone to huddle beneath a tangled rose arbour while they nibble at cakes and biscuits. The scars of a person who risked their life to save that of another, done without expectation of reward.
Of course, my experiences in such things are in no way unique to me. But it's very nice to think on them now and again.
