Words: "Dark means to stop darker threats."
Sigil: The faceless visor of the Sentinel
An organization as old as Arx itself, the Inquisition was founded after the end of the Reckoning in order to find demon worshipers and other dark forces working to destroy humanity. It once served as the discipleship of the Sentinel, but since the time of the Crownbreaker wars it has become completely secular, directed by a Master of Questions appointed by the Crown. They investigate all crimes that catch its interest that are not subject to the immediate, arbitary judgment and punishment of the Iron Guard.
Over the last three centuries, the Inquisition has swung from corrupt institution to dedicated protectors several times. The most previous Master of Questions, Shreve Tyde, attempted to seize Alaric IV during the King's Rest and gain control of the Compact. He was killed during a failed arrest by High Inquisitor Laric Grayson and Inquisitor Alistair Crownsworn, with the rest of Shreve's conspirators dying in the Battle of Sovereign Bridge. Laric was appointed Master of Questions by Alaric's regent, Gabriel Bisland, and he in turn appointed Alistair as High Inquisitor.
