Rosalind has joined the line.

Benny The Beaver leaves, following Acantha.

Benny The Beaver arrives, following Acantha.

Swiftly the Red Fox, 1 Greenmarch Guard, Andred, a lady-in-waiting arrive, following Neve.

Breccan has joined the line.

The Clearlake Archery Tourney is a yearly event. But it was missed due to some situations around the compact. But it is now back! The Festival Grounds of Clearlake Lodge have been decorated for the event, seating areas have been set up and there is room for those that want to wander to wander. Countess Acantha and her faithful companion, Benny the Beaver are settled off to the side of the entrance and greeting those that are arriving for the tourney.

"We are happy to see everyone. Please come and get refreshments and we'll be starting shortly." she tells them with a bright smile.

Cirroch has joined the line.

Having arrived in a clean v-neck shirt and a new pair of trousers, Breccan strides into the area with a black longbow over his back, as well as a quiver of arrows. He takes in a deep breath, then lets it out heavily with excitement. He gives a glance about to see if any other members of Clement House made their way out to either join in or cheer him on. He passes a glance to Neve at his side, grinning. "This is it. Exciting, isn't it?" He says to his companion.

Rosalind comes bursting through the grounds, her red hair flying behind. Hi Acantha,"she calls out with a smile. "Hey Benny,"she is sure to greet too. The Ravenseye bow too is strapped to her shoulder has well, all prepared. "How are you? Good?"There's a wave to others too as Rosa hurries for a drink.

Marquis Cirroch Sanna has found his way with very little direction, helpful in knowing where your neighbors are. The long pleated silk skirt he wears swishes around his legs in the long strides he takes as he watches Rosalind burst past him. He looks at the beaver with a smirk then turns to Breccan, "Ah. Breccan, we meet again!"

Returning that grin with one of her own, Neve looks upon Breccan and says, "Very.. So exciting, in fact, I'm half tempted to take that bow and show you how it's reallllyyy done, but," and she pauses, just long enough to flash a sweet, yet impish smile, "this is your day.. So I'll watch happily from the sidelines and wish you all the best." Neve smiles more to Breccan, then glances away to watch the bounding Rosalind, which gets a giggle from the blonde. She glances to the countess then and greets, "Lovely day, isn't it? I'm excited to see how many will compete!" As she sends the woman a smile she hears someone speaking to Breccan, so she glances over and smiles to Cirroch as well.

Poppy warily comes in, no bow or arrow in sight. She eyes Rosa as she flies past but a wary smile graces her lips.

"Well, thank you for sparing my dignity this evening, Neve." Breccan says with a laugh as he bumps his shoulder to hers in a playful manner. "It means a lot. I will look for you in the stands." At the sound of Cirroch's voice, he perks up a bit and lifts his hand. "Aye! We do! Congratulations on your showing last night at the gauntlet! I laid in cold water all night to soothe my muscles." He says with a laugh. "It's good to see a familiar face here." He says as he makes his way over to the large man. "The day finds you well?" He asks, giving a nod of his head upwards to Rosalind.

Acantha gives a smile to Rosalind, Neve and others, "Good afternoon." she states. Benny gives a little wave with a huge paw to those that come by. He's not wearing anything matching with the Countess today since it's so hot. Though there is a large wooden tub of water in the shade where he's been relaxing when not doing his co-host duties. "We've got a good turn out so far. I'll give it a few more minutes to see if we have any stragglers that want to join." she nods to this. "Everyone that's not shooting, if you would like to sit or stand away from the range, a stray arrow is nothing to be in the path of." she admits. She's been shot with one before. It sucks.

Rosalind waves to Cirroch and Poppy, grinning. "Were there the WHOLE time?!" Spying new people, the tall woman introduces herself with her natural friendly demeanor. "Hi! Im Lady Rosalind Ravenseye. Rosa or Ros for short though,"heading in Poppy's direction. "Are you--you know--shooting?"

Poppy is hesitates. Will she shoot? Will she not? It's only Rosalind's comment that has her straightening. "I.. well... yes." She nods self-assuredly "I can shoot you know." The others get a good wave and an introduction "Hi. I'm Lady Poppy Stahlben. Poppy for short."

Cirroch smiles broadly to Rosalind and Poppy, "Is it time to show the rest of the compact how it's done?" He doesn't have a bow, though gives the large double headed axe a little spin before resting it across his shoulders with arms draped over the long leather wrapped handle. A stretch is given before turning back to Breccan with a broad welcoming smile. "I drank a couple of casks of whiskey after the rope snapped." There's a glance over to Neve as he lowers his right hand from axe to his heart. "Lady Neve, defender of cakes and all things precious to the Sanna house. How are you?"

Acantha steps over to the line where people are gathering and there's a smile, "There are six sets of targets at varying degrees of difficulty. If you miss a target, don't worry on it. We'll just take it out of the overall score. We'll have you all shoot at the same time, record the score and then move onto the next target. Is that good with all of our shooters?" the woman asks them with a smile.

"Yeah? You look good for someone who drinks like the dead." Breccan laughs at Cirroch's night of binging. "You made the gauntlet look fairly easy. I suppose I spend too much time in my garden." When the terms are set, he turns himself to face Acantha, listening with a nod of his head. "Aye, that sounds fair, Lady Acantha." He says as he straightens up.

Turning her gaze back to Breccan, Neve can't help but tease, "Ahh. Is that what had you so sore? And here I thought you'd been thrown from a horse." She giggles again, then looks away when introductions are made. Smiling even brighter then, Neve offers, "Lady Neve Greenmarch. It's so nice to meet you.." and then her attention is focusing upon Cirroch. She can't help but grin wide as ever, and she says, "I'm well. It's so good to see you again. About time for more cake, is it not?" She giggles. "And speaking of cake, you must try the cakes Breccan makes! Sooo delicious. With honey from the garden. Mmm." When it seems things may be getting started, she scrunches her nose to give a devious little grin, and she quiets down.

Trig, a large dog with an intense stare arrives, following Kace.

Cirroch has a playful smile for Acantha, "I suppose it must be bows? Not a justified throw of an axe."

Poppy has joined the line.

Acantha gives a soft smile to Breccan, "Thank you." she tells him. "And, ah...no, we have knife and axe throwing at the Winter Festival that we do when the season hits though. I apologize on that Count Cirroch." she tells him. Then she's giving a look to the others, "If you don't have a bow, but would still like to shoot we have spares." she gives a smile to those present.

Kace walked through the archway and unto the Festival Grounds, spotting a few people. She'd cheerfully make her way over. Trig, her large wolf-like dog would be prancing happily behind her always staying close by to keep an eye out on his mistress. "Ah Countess Acantha, it is good to see you again and hosting a wonderful archery event no less." she smiles. "It is good to see the houses of Redrain prospering."

Tarik has decided not to let an arxian summer prevent him from supporting his fellow northerners at the archery contest. Upon entering the festival grounds, he offers a friendly wave to the people that he knows and goes quickly to find some shade.

Tarik has joined the a pine bench near the bushes.

Poppy eyes Rosalind before quickly hurrying to get a spare bow and getting into the line. She murmurs to Cirroch as she passes with a conspiring grin. "If you beat Rosa, I'll get you a barrel of whiskey."

Linx, a beautiful Persian cat with a green collared bow arrives, following Thesbe.

Cirroch nods and puts the axe away. Heading over to get one of the loaner bows while taking a moment to listen to Poppy, then starts laughing, as he looks towards Rosa. "I'm sure she will do better than I. The last thing closest to a bow that I used was our ballistae named for my mother to launch people across the Golden Hart!"

Fathering her how already, Rosa grins aside at Poppy. "Do I get one if I lose,"waving to Tarik. "Hey! It's been forever! How are you?!" Seeing Kace, Rosa waves to her too-not having any idea who she is. But that doesn't matter. Not to Rosalind.

Breccan checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 15, rolling 40 higher.

Thesbe has joined the line.

Poppy grins and points her nose up at Rosalind. "Nope. No one needs a drunk Rosa." She then lines up her loaner bow and arrow and after a lot of fumbling and inning, the bow is released.

Rosalind checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 15, rolling 20 higher.

Poppy checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 15, rolling 3 lower.

Cirroch checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 15, rolling 8 higher.

Having slid the long pure black longbow off his back, Breccan reaches behind him and draws an arrow out. Notching it, he takes a moment to breathe as he draws it back. Whne he releases, the arrow sings through the air and slams into the center. Bullseye! He gives a firm nod of his head, stepping to the side and waiting for the rest of the archers.

Thesbe checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 15, rolling 77 higher. Thesbe rolled a critical!

In the meantime, Neve has found herself a seat.. nope. She's standing. Too excited to sit! She's made sure to stand at a safe distance away, but she's as close as she can get to the action. She watches as Breccan makes his shot, and when it hits center she cheers! She lifts her hands and claps feverishly for him, and even lets out a sharp whistle before she's laughing in a delighted way.

Acantha gives Kace a smile, "Your highness, it is nice to see you again as well." she tells her. Then she is moving to make sure that all the targets are set for the first shoots. She holds up a hand for the archers to prepare. Then it drops, "Loose!" she calls out. Benny shimmies his way up to sit on the edge of the range and he's chomping on a prime piece of wood as he watches along side Acantha. Once the first round is done, there are runners that are moving the used targets out of the way to reveal the next set in the line.

It's very clear from the moment she picked up the bow, it was clear that Poppy has no clue what she's actually doing. There was fumbling and mumbling and then she let's the arrow go and instead of it sailing gracefully through the air like Breccan's, hers is falling flat and hits against the most outer ring of the target. "That counts, right? " She looks back around to Acantha for confirmation.

"No drunk Rosa. Got it" Cirroch grins to Poppy, "Though I might start drinking." He then lines up his shot and lets the arrow fly. Not a bullseye, though the look on his face is that the shot was better than he expected it to be. Holding the bow closer he points at the target, "I actually hit it!" He watches Breccan, Rosalind, and Thesbe make their shots, calling out to them "Very well done!"

Rosalind nocks her arrow and steadily gets her stance ready. As she releases her arrow, she watches as it finds the dead center of its target. Rosa turns and grins for a moment. Looking at the the others, she gives an encouraging,"Great job,"but huffs a moment at Poppy. "Im great drunk!"

Rosalind checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 20, rolling 18 higher.

Thesbe hadn't even had time to change out of her day-dress before she was rushing into the festival grounds with rosey colored cheeks. A beautiful Persian cat was also cradled in her arms firmly, so he didn't fall on her way there. . A few moments to catch her breath, "Sorry!! I hope I didn't miss the tournament." After hearing Acantha, Thesbe reluctantly puts Linx, her cat, down on the benches nearby. "Stay here and don't get lost." she smiles before she runs to grab a bow and gets in line. After a few lingering moments, she takes aim. A few inhaled and exhaled breaths and she let the arrow whiz by landing a bullseye effortlessly. She looks to the others and offers a clap of hands for each one.

Breccan checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 20, rolling 11 higher.

Cirroch checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 20, rolling 1 lower.

Thesbe checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 20, rolling 27 higher.

As he gives a grin to Cirroch, Breccan gives him an upwards nod to him in appreciation. As he watches the others, he tilts his head over to Thesbe as she sinks her arrow flawlessly. He gives a pause, brows lifting up a bit before he gives a 'huh' in his throat. "Incredible shot, my lady!" He calls over to her. He gives a look back to Cirroch and grins. "You see that? Perfect strike." He says as he reaches behind him to draw a new arrow. At the next target, he fires again, landing his second bullseye, squinting his eyes. He got it, but barely.

Neve is unable to stop smiling as she watches those who take part in the event. She claps and cheers for everyone, even if the arrow doesn't stick. It matters not to her! They're all out enjoying the day, and what could be better than that? At one point, clapping isn't enough, so she tugs a few ribbons from her locks to begin swishing them around as she cheers them on.

Poppy checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 20, rolling 17 lower.

Kace goes to take a seat nearby after greeting Acantha and watches the arrows being unleashed. A grin ear to ear as each one makes there mark. Trig also came to sit on the ground near the benches, tail still wagging. The dog did hard not to chase after the arrows flying around but it seemed he was more keen on watching the cat nearby before laying down in content. The red headed princess looks over to Neve and chuckles at her swishing ribbons, nodding in approval at her brilliant cheerleading display.

Poppy shushes Rosalind and gets ready to aim her next shot. "You're throwing me off Rosalind." She squints at the target and.... drops the arrow in the dirt.

Cirroch smirks at Rosa's outburst. "We're all great drunk. Tis the Northern way!" He then looks at the next target and shakes his head, muttering something silently before letting the arrow fly. An outer ring. "Ha!" He looks to Breccan's shot, "Well done Breccan! I also made the target!" Cirroch doesn't care about where on the target he's hit, just that it has hit. Looking over to Poppy and muttering, "If you pick it up and throw it, I'll make a distraction."

Rosalind silences herself as Poppy sets her bow. But she DOES blink at Thesbe. "Wow! Youre awesome! Who taught you? Where are you from? What's your name,"she starts shooting off questions before preparing her own shot. This too lands dead center. It's almost second nature sometimes. The talking or the bow...who knows

"It counts, yes! We aren't doing drops this time so even if you miss a target you can still compete with the others." she smiles to that. Then she's watching as the next targets are taken and there's a nod at the second round. Once everyone is done there's a motion from the Countess for them to move the targets and set the next. It's a quick process. "Archer's ready!" she calls. "Fire when you're ready!" she states after that.

Cirroch checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 30, rolling 3 higher.

Poppy glances back at Rosalind and then nods to Cirroch eagerly "Next round, okay?"

Breccan checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 30, rolling 2 lower.

Thesbe was busy shoveling up her long hair and putting it back in a ponytail after she made her mark the first time. The glimpse from Breccan and his compliment of her shot causes her cheeks to grow rosey, but it wasn't from the heat. She shyly waved her hand in thanks but said nothing, her shy nature getting the better of her. Aiming again with bow in hand she shoots off the next arrow landing another bullseye. That's when she heard Rosalind. "Ah..." she stumbles along her words, "Thanks." she says softly in a meek tone of voice, "I taught myself. I'm from Blackshore Isle. The name is Thesbe. Whats yours?"

Rosalind checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 30, rolling 17 higher.

Thesbe checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 30, rolling 6 higher.

Poppy checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 30, rolling 3 lower.

Tarik realizes he is almost last for a meeting and rushes out.

Tarik has left the a pine bench near the bushes.

Cirroch nods to Poppy, then pulls back on the string of the bow nearly forcing the bow to bend in half. "What happens if we let the arrow go straight up?" He calls out causing the distraction promised, then releases the arrow. It does go up, though at a partial angle and still manages to hit along an outer ring of the target. "Huh. Is there a different wind about here?" He holds the bow for a moment, giving it another pull without an arrow notched this time and watches the bow bend. "This isn't as terrible as I expected it to be." Looking over to Rosa and Thesbe with a nod to Thesbe he places his right hand over heart. "Marquis Cirroch Sanna of Giant's Reach. You have an amazing couple of shots there."

It appears that the pressure of the touranment is getting to Breccan as he skims the next target and misses it by inches. He gives a few blinks of his eyes, then takes in a deep breath, letting it out slowly. ".. C'mon Breccan." He softly mutters to himself under his breath, trying to breathe some new confidence into him as he watches the others. Rosalind and Thesbe continue to dominate and he gives a few nods of appreciation. With a glance to Cirroch, he says, "I should have practiced." He says with a chuckle.

From her place at the side of all the action, Neve is still grinning wildly with her excitement, and she is bouncing lightly on her toes. The ribbons are tossed side to side a bit more before they're lowered to her side. She starts to grin and she mutters, "Gee.." while watching how well they're doing, especially Thesbe. She's focused on her now, waiting to see what happens next.

Poppy takes full advantage of Cirroch's distraction and doesn't bother to ready her bow. Instead she just hurls the arrow towards the target. It doesn't catch but it's a lot closer than the last one.

"Lady Rosalind Ravenseye, but you can call me Rosa ir Ros. From Stormheart,"the tall redhead answers Thesbe with a large smile. She hushedly murmurs to Breccan, nodding,"Youre not doing bs--,"pausing as she hears Cirroch. "You going to hit feet,"Rosa asks laughing. Then she straightens once more, releasing the arrow directly into the center of the target.

Rosalind checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 40, rolling 13 higher.

This time Thesbe didn't have the force behind the aim she was hoping for when the arrow shot off but still hit the target. After all, she remembered she was here to meet new people, learn and most importantly have fun. When she was done she watched the others, raising a hand to her mouth to stifle a chuckle at Cirroch's arrow in the air and how it reminded her of a game she and her sister used to play. "A pleasure La- I mean Rosa." she says with a polite dip of her head before looking to Cirroch, "A pleasure Marquis Cirroch, thank you! I think my precision with sewing helps." she shrugs, and honestly admits.

Acantha is busy watching the archer's and making calls to get things moved. It's a active event and it's no surprise to see a lot of people moving. Making sure that things are safe and targets placed correctly. She goes through the motions, making sure that everyone has cleared their third shots and then moves them onto the next set of shots.

Breccan checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 40, rolling 2 higher.

Several more arrows were shot and Kace was intently watching, while a hand went to pat Trig absentmindedly. "They are doing very well indeed." she says with a smile and nod to the dog, looking back to the contestants with excitement.

Thesbe checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 40, rolling 11 lower.

Cirroch checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 40, rolling 20 lower.

With the fourth target, Breccan nails it once more. Not a bullseye, but he hits the outer rings. He lets out a low breath slowly past his lips. He reaches to his hip to a small jug of water, taking a sip, then turns his attention to the rest.

Poppy checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 40, rolling 27 lower.

Rosalind watches the others carefully. "If you adjust your feet that way--move your elbow,"she can be heard giving advice with a grin. Helpfully. Then Rosa too lifts her bow once more, watching the arrow make its mark.

"I have need of a tailor, might we talk after the event?" Cirroch offers a friendly smile to Thesbe, then takes another attempt at hitting the target which looks significantly further away that the previous ones. Watching the others make their shots, shouting out support to them. He finally takes aim and lets the arrow fly, it comes up short, though this doesn't appear to change his mood nor infectious smile.

Poppy looks at Rosa's explaination and tries to alter her feet. In the process, she manages to lose another arrow at her feet. "hmpf."

Thesbe aimed her bow and released the arrow yet again, this time the arrow went whizzing past the target and beyond. "Well darn." She wrinkled her nose and blew air out through pursed lips, causing stray strands of blonde hair to fly about away from her eyes. She looked to both Rosa and Breccan, with a genuine and humble tone of voice. "Great shot you two." Then to Cirroch: "Of course Marquis Cirroch, I'd be more then happy to take time to talk of tailoring afterwards."

Acantha is busy giving motions to folks. It helps to keep everyone on task. There's a smile when the fourth round is done and she talks to the archers that are standing, "Our last two shots are going to be back to back, so be prepared." she tells them. With that, the targets are moved out withone sitting at fifty and the other at sixty on the range. It shouldn't be too hard to do.

Giving a look over at Thesbe who misses, Breccan looks surprised. He gives her an encouraging smile. "The wind shifted." He calls to her with a glance upwards. "You and Lady Rosalind are quite the marksmen. I could definitely pick up a tip or two from either of you and I've been practicing for years since I was a small one." He grins at Cirroch, watching his arrow fly wide, then chuckles. "As the Lady said, adjust your feet some. Try and breathe through the shot."

Rosalind checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 50, rolling 17 lower.

Poppy checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 50, rolling 34 lower.

Cirroch checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 50, rolling 36 lower.

Thesbe checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 50, rolling 26 lower.

Breccan checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 50, rolling 19 lower.

Thesbe checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 60, rolling 26 lower.

Breccan checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 60, rolling 1 higher.

Cirroch checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 60, rolling 27 lower.

Rosalind checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 60, rolling 5 lower.

Poppy checked dexterity + archery at difficulty 60, rolling 43 lower.

Cirroch looks at his feet then to Breccan's feet. Adjusting his feet to match, then taking a soft and slow breath. "Can't hurt to learn something new, or cause some damage in the process!" The Marquis starts to laugh and lets the arrow fly. And fly it does! clear free of any targets and what sounds like a possible crash of glass in the distance. He winces while tucking his head down to allow shoulders to create a place for him to hide in for a moment. Retaking his full height, "I can only hope that was the Marquessa's wall in our garden and not the palace or worse The Spirits." The bow is handed back to Acantha, "I believe that I have done enough damage here as I did with the Telmar's gauntlet recently. Simply point me in the direction of the drink Countess Acanta?"

Poppy moves her feet, breathes and does all the advice she hears and yet she still fails. This time the arrow shoots right past the target. Grumbling in frustration, she simply loads the bow and as she readies the bow she turns to hear Cirroch "Drinks? Thank the spirits!" She releases the arrow straight after, thinking it'll fall at her feet but instead it hurtles towards Rosalind and soars past her head and lands harmlessly in the dirt.

Neve glances to the side to catch sight of the refreshments not too far off, but no! She must focus and continue watching the others! She watches as Cirroch takes that shot.. where ever it ends up, and when it misses she howls with delighted laughter and calls his way, "Better luck with the next shot!" When Poppy misses as well, Neve pouts. But hey! Drinks!

As the target gets further away, Rosa squints. Getting ready to make her shot, she starts to release her arrow when--"Shite--"and ducks her head, hiding from the arrow, cauusing her own to miss the target. "What just happened?!"

"You almost died, my Lady!" someone calls from the crowd.

Poppy quickly throws her bow aside and whistles innocently while trying to hide behind Cirroch.

Thesbe listened to Countess Acantha... "Ok two more shots.. I can do this." a mutter to herself, though, when she saw the targets being moved to fifty and sixty yards on the range she thought she was going to be queasy. The woman looked like a deer in headlights stumbling to grab the bow. There was a soft sigh, ~No way she'd be known as a quitter~ She shot off two more arrows back to back, both equally missing the target by far off too, but at least they landed in the same area. ~That was at least something, right?~

It seems she expended all her concentration on the first shot. She watched the other's arrows whiz by too before watching Breccan intensely. The only one making it out of all of them, she was definitely and thoroughly impressed. "The wind shifted." she called back out to Breccan with a quick smirk, it quickly disappearing as if it was non-existent. Drink?? She could definitely use a drink. There was a series of faint chuckles at Poppy's whistling and Rosa's ducking.

Trig, a large dog with an intense stare have been dismissed.

Acantha gives a smile to those that have finished their last shots and there's a round of applause that errupts from those that were watching as well. "Drinks inside, yes! Where it is much cooler." she smiles as she points those wanting to partake into the great hall. Once the scores are tallied she follows those inside and there is a smile, "Our third place is Master Breccan Malere and he will be recieving 20,000 silver." she states to the crowd. "In second place, but only by one point, is Lady Rosalind Ravenseye and she will be receiving 50,000 silver." she smiles. "And our first place prize goes to Mistress Thesbe Aryn. Good shooting was done by all. I thank you all for honoring us by coming out and participating." she bows her head to them.

Cirroch steps between Rosalind's and Poppy's line of sight, allowing Poppy the chance to duck away if needed. He can be a towering enthusiastically smiling tree if needed. "It must have been a low flying bird!"

Poppy cheers for the winners and gives Cirroch a thankful back pat before escaping away.

When the places are called, Neve is barely able to hold back her excitement. She begins to bounce in place as she claps her hands together, her movements making her blonde locks sway about wildly. Once all three places are called, she finally cheers loudly again and releases a few more whistles. Very supportive, she is!

Connal, a Northern Wolfhound, Honeymare, 1 Ravenseye Warrior leave, following Rosalind.
