I'm on a recruiting spree lately. I've asked several people if they wanted to be Champions and got several jousters who have replied to my petition for more. The Champions just keep growing and growing! I love it.

As a current Liberator and former Thrall, I can say that Freedom is life. Before I had no future, I would wake up in the morning and spend all day doing what someone else told me to do, giving everything I had and only to (barely) get what I needed to live. I didn't want it, but I had no choice, all because who my parents were.

There is a way to fight without killing people, it's called being a Champion. It's good money, much smaller risk of death then battle, and you make a lot of friends. Occupational hazards are mostly scars, wounded ego, and blood stains.

So the horse race was a success! I probably could have done a better job organizing it. Next time, I will, but at least people had fun with this one! It was something different, too many competitions in Arx are melees or gauntlets.

Oh, I should probably update my will. I think my previous will might be incorrected and contradictory. Everything I own goes to my sister, Bashira, unless she herself is also dead, then my weapons and armor are to be given to The Champions guild to be given in out a lottery and the rest of my possessions are to be donated The Liberators to be given out to freeded and escaped Shavs in need. My house is to be sold and the profits donated to The Liberators.

I'm also wondering if I should join the Discipleship of Skald. I had considered it way back, but I ended up working as an academy teacher and that was a lot of work. Still is a lot of work. But now I'm starting to consider it again, especially after that duel.

Considering slavery is illegal and they are being held in slavery, it's not illegal to escape Thralldom, much like it isn't illegal to escape from a kidnapper. This is one of those situations where The Crown looks the other way not because those who practice Thralldom are in the right, but because a civil war in The Mourning Isles would be too blood and too costly.

Dueling with bows can be interesting! It depends on how tricky you make the target to hit. A difficult target where even the most accomplished archer struggles and has to take multiple shots can be fun to watch, seeing those arrows sail so close yet miss their mark, wondering who will land the hit.

I'm so exicted for the duels I got coming up. It's been a while since I fought in a duel. People seem to only hire me for serious ones lately, which is kinda funny because I'm not at all a serious person! Oh well, just means they respect my skill!
