Relationship Note on Gwenna
She has been the Voice of Redrain since I arrived in the city. Although I technically serve alongside her now I find it hard to imagine that this Princess and Redrain born Voice would ever truly need insight from myself.

A good High Lord.
Don't show any talent or inspiration in his presence or you will soon have an offer you cannot refuse.
If I were to give any advice to someone seeking an audience with Darren Redrain I would suggest this. If he tries to drop formality, you should be even more formal. Not only will he respect your fortitude in the face of his disarming charm but it will most certainly annoy him and for his cruelty he deserves some annoyance in his life.
Just don't forget, don't display talent or drive or you'll soon find yourself put to use.

During the Assembly of Peers I considered bringing up the most recent death in the lowers. It is hard for me to accept that the Iron Guard needs no help when Countess Stahlben makes the third northern born or northern placed noble to die in the alleyways. Suffice to say those who seek trouble often find it and she was always one to seek trouble or make her own.

On the matter of Skald and Papercuts...
As a northerner I obviously favor some of the Pantheon moreso than others. Mangata is well loved in Whitehold lands and Skald being tied to the North is likewise well loved or perhaps well respected. No papercut, nothing happening. Have a papercut, something happening. Nothing happening infinite choices. Something happening, specific choices. If I were a God of choice and had to choose between infinite choices and choices revolving around something small I'd probably pick the shorter list... But then again I am just a man and I fuck up a goodly portion of my own choices so what do I know.
I support Skald, may Master Aleksei take this opportunity to further remove himself from the choice of resigning his place in the church.

On the topic of misunderstandings regarding the Dominus' decree.
Those of you who are of the Faith and always have been you need to realize something in relation to those that have been barred from service within church institutions. The Church is the public welfare and service throughout the realm. Mercies are prized. Scholars are honored. Lacking the ability to serve in these roles is like a courtier who can never be a Whisper. They -can- do many things but being a Whisper makes things infinitely easier to succeed in being a courtier.
It is perfectly understandable that commoners and especially prodigals see this as a separation an inability to pursue their vocational aspirations and be a part of the Compact. They are wrong but such is the duty of nobility to guide them to the truth and not berate them their misconceptions. In addition, should any disaffected spirit believers be reading this, know that Vala Khanne Halfshav and Redrain are in the works to address those who are unwilling to renounce the faith of their birth or the beliefs of their heart. To not rush to renounce simply so you can have title and position. Renunciation is like an oath and failure to uphold your word is oathbreaking. If you ever lapse into the belief of the spirits you are a liar and worse off than you were before. Think carefully on your decisions.

I have received word of a decree by the Dominus of the Faith. It is, of course, the prerogative of the Dominus to do that which he believes is best and right. Likewise, it is the duty of those Peers within the Compact to remember the duty to integrate the Faith into their lands and peoples lives. To that end know that I personally will not support the renouncing of dual beliefs by those who have lost their positions within Church institutions. In the last few years the Compact has finally recognized the truth that Spirits exist and they are in fact our allies in so many ways.
If you have lost your position within the Church, keep in mind truth comes in many forms and not only one way. I do not know the Pantheon well but I do not believe they seek service that is not wholesome and sincere. Is it sincere to deny your heart and your beliefs? Is it enough to retain your positions in the Church and the titles that come with? Is it truly who you are? Do the Gods want such conflicted decisions in the hearts of their most respected representatives?
There are other ways to serve outside the institutions of faith. Just as there are ways to fight wars outside of the army. Follow your path, truth will reveal itself to you. A way forward will be shown.

Marquis Cirroch Sanna, Lord of Giant's Reach and myself have returned from the further mountain of the Everwinter. There we found a castle, Bonespire that is clearly built long ago. Workmanship that I have not seen the like of. My Lord Cirroch was less impressed but then he does live in a mountain himself and is more astute in assessing such things. The people there are not my people. Some who know me know I have a strong opinion on those people and lands that fall under Halfshav's demense.
No these people are of the mountain, they are far from Whitehold's territory and in truth they are to small a people to warrant the Liege Lord of my Uncle Duke Vercyn Halfshav, Lord of Whitehold. Thus it was my decision to defer their fate to our first and oldest vassal whom we trust in all things. My Lord Cirroch Sanna has mas his decision but he has not placed his faith. As all lieges stand in elevated position to their vassals so to does Sanna stand above Stahlben. Faith is not eternal, trust is not a given, in the Northlands one must continually earn one's place.
House Halfshav supports House Sanna in giving House Stahlben that chance. Whatever their actions, we wait and judge.
