I spent a few hours at the Ambassador's today and enjoyed the company a good deal. It was at the very least a fine distraction from less pleasant considerations and thus appreciated.
I do hope to spend more time with Princess Sabella soon, for I find that I like her very much.

I'd forgotten how much I like Orazio, it had been such a long time since we were last in one another's lives.
I remember now however. In fact I think I like him even more than I did then. I'm just as vain as ever I was, but can focus on things beyond my own beauty, such as extremely amusing conversational partners such as he.

The Salon debate hosted by Saoirse Velenosa was an utter delight. I met some fabulous people and enjoyed the robust conversation as well. I really must start hosting for The Salon myself, it has been such a pleasure to witness this revival.

She is incredibly charming and funny from what I've seen thus far, I do hope we're able to talk again one day soon.
Her skills at crafting scents are also incomparable. Alas I'm a widow and must buy perfume myself rather than having it bestowed as a gift but with a fragrance this enticing surely I'll be inundated with marriage proposals before the week is out.
(I jest, Scholar, I've no plans to take that particular step again any time soon. If at all.)

in an elegant, feminine, and likely quite familiar hand*
Dear Sister,
I do not wish to criticize her in a time of such stress, for I commend our niece Calypso in trying to amuse
us with these little pranks. However making a proclamation that you are marrying a Velenosa prince? It's
irresponsible of her to be so confusing even for the good of a laugh. Don't worry I'll talk to her, I'm
sure you are very angry and I offer my diplomacy services if I might act as your mediator.
Unless...unless you /are/ engaged to a Velenosa Prince? Have you been threatened or blackmailed?
Are you in distress? If you fear for your life send an envelope with a red ribbon and I'll know you need
a rescue mission.
Of course if you have entered into a marriage contract willingly, I offer my congratulations along
with my genuine fears. Hell indeed has frozen over, and that could lead to even more supernatural
type troubles.

I am terribly excited! His Majesty had mentioned some weeks ago that perhaps in order to get acclimated at court and find something to do for my idle hands, I might serve as a Lady in Waiting to Queen Symonesse. It seems that such an opportunity does indeed exist, and I will be doing so after the birth of her child and her physical recovery.
It is likely a blessing that I cannot begin right away. I don't know anything about elves...

It was absolutely delightful to sit and speak once more with Alaric. With His Majesty Alaric Grayson rather. He was only newly crowned King when I first met him, and has been family to me for so long I must remind myself not to hug him in public or tell off-color jokes. That is for private conversations.
I am still so very grateful for all that he has done for me and mine. Why we even discussed the possibility of a post as lady-in-waiting to his wife, Queen Symonesse, who I am simply /dying/ of curiosity to know everything about. I would never tell him this in person, and only write it here because I am sure he does not have the time to page through all the whites. But between you and I, Scholar (and everyone who /does/ have the time to flip through the whites of strangers, which I do not judge in the least, enjoying the same myself) Between you and I and they: King Alaric sounds almost like a smitten schoolboy when speaking of Queen Symonesse. It's lovely, I'm so pleased that he found happiness in a political arrangement that may well have brought pure misery. He deserves nothing less, and I of course, deserve to be in her company often myself, as a lady-in-waiting ought.
Let us hope that far bigger things do not distract my brother-in-law from making good on his promise to mention it. I realize that life as we know it might well be on the brink of destruction, but that does not change my desire to braid the queen's hair on occasion.

I don't often write in the whites. I prefer to keep my thoughts my own. It seems dutiful though to attempt it once in a while, as Vellichor has determined we ought.
I attended a rather unusual religious event today. It was held by the Archlector of the Queen of Endings. Not a Goddess I know terribly much about as so much is recent knowledge. It was mildly embarrassing to be so ignorant, as well as to realize there is published doctrine I might have read through beforehand and therefore avoided asking simple questions.
Archlector Aureth is an extremely gifted speaker. He managed to use something as ridiculous on the surface as holding a funeral for a dead bug (Spider, sorry, a dead spider, I'll work on that. I'm sure I have more questions, dozens at least, but imagined that while making a first impression on such a large group, many who appeared deeply devoted to the Goddess invoked, it may be better to wait. Allow them to ask the thoughtful queries they surely had, and not dominate the conversation with my simplistic ones that I could easily find in this text.
There were other interesting people present, I found myself particular intrigued by the Duchess Dafne Zaffria. Her appearance is quite striking, something different but not separate from beauty. The way she spoke I wondered if she too had heard the call of the Queen of Endings, but I imagined that it was not the best time to ask.
I have thus far enjoyed being in Arx. There is much yet to learn, and people to connect with, but there is also time.
