Relationship Note on Josephine
In the wake of her own personal tragedy, Guildmistress Josephine Arcuri came to my aid when things looked very dim. I had begun to suspect that I would lose my aide-de-camp, Brenlin. I feared we'd gone too long since the attack upon us... upon him and that hope was fleeting. But then, there came Duchess Delilah Shepherd with her extensive wisdom and knowledge and Lord Mirk Halfshav with his suggestion to call upon the Guildmistress to compare notes.
I did not expect her to come to our rescue.
She may not think it a big thing, but I do. Her last words of the evening were that we no longer had need of her.
She is so wrong.
I owe her a debt, in whatever form she chooses. Whether I pay it forward or she needs my sword, coin, or resources.
Thank you, Guildmistress.

I'm quite satisfied--to be honest, rather honored--to be able to wear such excellent work. I've always held a deep fondness for the sea, and these starfish are utterly glorious. They remind me of warm, crystalline waters and soft sand beneath my feet; the deep velvet of twilight fringed with vibrant orange and purples and that pale pink glow. Of secrets whispered, and lost, amid salt-kissed breezes.
I did say I was going to spoil myself with something shiny, so who can fault me if it that something is multiple brilliant pieces that I shall treasure for years to come. I deserve it, after all.

There will always be a handful of days where someone can ask "where were you when..." and anyone asked will have a story to tell because those days are preserved forever in memory, as clear as the moments as they happened.
I will always remember sitting with you at the forge when the world changed, when we lost something and gained something. Perhaps we might've become friends under some other circumstances but that brief moment, that fracture of darkness and despair like the occlusion in some splendid gem, created something unique. Though it may've been forged in sorrow it has become an effulgence of joy.
You are an excellent protege, an incredible guildmaster, but a far better friend.

Relationship Note on Josephine
I sit here with a ring and admire its unique beauty. The song that its jeweler described awakens many questions -- or rather has sparked inspiration and wonderment. Each detail has been meticulously chosen to visually weave the story and song, much as a storyteller at the hearth in the middle of winter. Captivating. It certainly has had me re-opening "Divine Inspirations of Arx" that former Guildmaster Joscelin, Archlector Wylla, and many of the great crafters and singers such as Disciple Hana, Baroness Lucita, Dame Morrighan, Goodwoman Lottie, and Dame Alexis helped create. I shall have to add another entry and this one for Guildmaster Josephine and her iridescite ring.
If anyone has not seen the talents by Guildmaster Josephine, I encourage you to visit her shop and ask about her crafting, listen as you learn what creates each piece of jewelry, and admire a talent unique unto her own.
And then I encourage you to make it a habit to do the same with any encountered artisan in the city, nay, across the Compact. Let them know what alights your senses, what has provoked thought, or inspired action. Then thank them as you would a bard, poet, or entertainer for their time and talent. You never know what hardships each person has faced to produce a song, poem, performance, even craft -- for it may drain them upon completion.
So be the person today who brings a smile upon someone's face. Be thankful for those inspired by Jayus for our world is made brighter, vivid of color, and full of wonderment.

Remarkable enough in her ability to grasp her weaknesses as much as her better attributes, to strengthen the one and lean on the other. We all stumble in our new roles, at least a little, though I admire her foresight in much of what she does, it's a relief to see that no one is perfect.

Relationship Note on Josephine
I met Josephine Arcuri through Lord Grady. At the time he was her patron and they had a most noteworthy business relationship. All good things tend to dwindle to a close though and as time went on, their business relationship was set aside. Whether temporarily or otherwise, who is to know.
Yet despite the change in their relationship, Mistress Arcuri has remained a steadfast friend of House Deepwood. Whether in matters of business, trade, or other needs that the Woods have had? She has been there to helpfully provide her aid. She has shown that she understands that business and friendship can have a place at the same table, but they can also be separate from one another. When I came calling at her door and sought her assistance with a matter, she rose to the occasion. She didn't simply fulfill the request that I had, she went above and beyond. Any expectations that I may have had weren't simply met or exceeded, they were altogether shattered with the power of her effort.
That is why I and we of House Deepwood hope that when the time arrives that the Crafter's Guild selects their new leader, that Josephine Arcuri will be given the opportunity to show her strength and values to the Compact as a whole and to those who will come to rely upon her as the new Guildmistress of the Crafter's Guild. She will undoubtedly have deep shoes to fill following after Guildmistress Joscelin Arterius, but I believe that she has set a fine example for many after her to emulate in one way or another that will usher them toward a path of prominent success.

This woman's talent is unparalleled and her ability to manage her establishment while maintaining an air of grace and beauty across multiple locations is a merit in it of itself and a shining example of her management abilities. She has always been a pleasure to work with and has a definitive ability in matching the perfect combination of materials in order to create a product that truly speaks to its owner.
If I had the power I would keep her on retainer and hoard her skill, but alas her work is destined to be shared and even in the selfish depths of my heart I must admit it would be a travesty otherwise.

The crown prize for the Redheaded Rebellion is a stygian work of wonder and I have asked myself (and the master of jewels herself) how ever I'm supposed to find the will to part with it. I really am getting more outwardly thoughtful, the more I get older. I don't think I would have ever considered this black eye to be a chastisement from Gloria, until the discussion I had with Mistress Arcuri today.
Something tells me that she and Valena would have gotten along quite well, and I can almost see the two of them bonding over stories of how one or the other gave out admonitions, or pride in their own work. My sword and my armor, and the fact that I am alive, can attest to the quality of their abilities.
At least she is willing to take the commission once I have the silver for it. That was a relief, as well as insightful. I hadn't even considered half of what she asked of me regarding it. How could I have thought only on what it would vaguely be and look like, that I did not think on the finer details?
Gods, I'm growing old.
