Forgive me, scholar.
I'm still a bit speechless. I'm not used to poetry.
And now I'm plagued by uncertainty, confusion.
Change on the horizon, like a wave threatening to over-shadow and bring with it all the reaping of life it can swallow, drag out to see and pull it all down to the bottom. It's not the razing of death that brings with it new life, but the end of so much.
What choices can we make now, in the face of such desperate loss of time, that we can trust to holdfast in the aftermath, if we survive? If we succeed? If we're the ones left standing at the end?

One of our newest members, Behtuk's work at the Northern Bladeworks takes my breath away. He might not see it himself, but the artistry he puts in his creations makes his weaponry more akin to fine art you'd display on your wall. That it can also be so functional and deadly... well. It's impressive. If you haven't yet, you should go by his shop and see for yourself.

Relationship Note on Eleyna
So, today is rather auspicious. Not only is it my birthday, it's that day of the Month that Archduchess Eleyna Velenosa offers me a gift to persuade me into her patronage.
She has outdone herself.
In a box of fine wood, I was presented with a bottle the hues of a sunset. Within it, the Archduchess has crafted with her own hands a scented oil so perfect, I can barely describe it. It in the note she sent with it, she describes the use of plumeria, vanilla, and ginger.
I can't single them out, all I experience upon inhalation is an image of the Chains, my mother, a garden hidden away to the south, a cool breeze off the sands....
I've been told by others that the Archduchess hardly ever bothers to give out such things, that she uses her skills for her own personal needs. I can write but speaking on it... I lose my ability. That I am one of the favored, blessed few... I am honored, stunned, awed, and so very humbled by this gift, which I am accepting as a -birthday present- and nothing else, my dear Lady.

I'm sad to confess that I'd never gone to a play before last night. It took Mae hooting every other line before I finally caught on, even then... it seems so odd to be so noisy when others are on stage! If we're hollering at them, won't we miss something? Won't -they-? But apparently, I worried for nothing. It was fun. I can't wait to go again.

Once called the Ice Princess, I have a hard time to this day believing that. Not only because of her skillful attempts to woo me into her service (which I would do in a heartbeat, were it allowed), but because of her generosity in both advice and aid.
I had nothing to wear to the play tonight. I've never been to a play! I sought advice from the Archduchess and she was kind enough to give me some. I've never known her to be anything but thoughtful, considerate, and helpful.
Scholar stop staring at me like I sprouted a new head, or requesting that I state for the fourth time who it is I'm referring to. I spelled her name out for you thrice.

There's a Tournament held for the honor of Gloria (aren't they all?) coming up and I think it's been too long since I've attended one. I could use an outlet for this over-whelming desire I've had to yell, of late, and observing a tournament is one of my favorite ways to do that.

I expect gossip, tittering speculation among folks both prominent and less so. But the more I hear about 'rumor' and 'insults' fed through the grapevine of he-said she-said exposed here in the Whites, the more bothered I am.
Who has the time with a -war- looming over our souls to be that petty? Stop wasting your fucking time trying to tear other people down, if you can't be an adult about your existence then please be sure to put your thoughts here, where we can all see it, so I don't need to waste -my- time trying to be civil to someone who can't bother to do the same.
Maybe I'm simply vexed that it's my -friends- that are experiencing these things, or perhaps my circles have had the grace to never overlap into the likes of which I now want to avoid. Am I too idealistic? I expect this behavior from children, not peers of the realm or anyone above the age of majority.
