An apt student for small weapons lessons. She admittedly prefers to use larger weapons so adjusted the way I teach to include more practice on how to defend from small weapons. Hopefully she will never need to use those techniques, but just in case, she has been shown them.

Those of can now Saikland, relax, we did not find anything overtly dangerous in the abandoned castle long as no one goes pokng around in it and trigger the traps. And all the exploration group returned, alive mind you, alive so the rumor that none ever returned from that castle if they entered it are false. There are six living to prove that rumor is not true.

Children grow so fast. 'Nu Soos' and nearly falling down while trying to show them off, and trying to keep them from hugging chickies too hard which would be fatal to them, and convincing them that people are riding horses and not 'big doggies' add smiles to what otherwise would be a glum day. Chickies, yes, the tower was infested with fifty of them in various shapes and sizes, all with the assorted stray feathers, eggs, and assorted mess. They apparently were a 'gift' to Lord Karadoc but thankfully now all have a home on a farm, at least most of them do though many people will be having chicken dinners for a while.

You have become a wonderful healer, my friend, but remember Lady Eirene and her advice, herbal teas for pain and hefty shots of whiskey to help it along and stop the patients whining. It would help them sleep through the worst of it. She did that because often she could not give one on one attention and wanted them to rest between times she checked on them. That is what observed when she was treating my late husband's wounds. Only I ..er… softened the wording up substantially. She did tend to say things in her own unique way. I miss Auntie Eirene.

Sing to your infant, my friend. It matters not if the notes are off-key or your voice cracks, it is the love and the gentle caring, the fierce protectiveness your child will hear and remember fondly. In the words of my overtired and fretful twins being comforted by their nanny who has no singing voice. 'sing purtiful'. We think that is pretty and beautiful run together, not a reference to Karadoc's cat or them trying to say pitiful.

As I eye the mountain of paperwork facing me I deal with the urgent, after taking a moment to admire the scribbles made by my twins though not sure if they were intentionally created or if they evaded the nanny long enough to find a charred twig in the ash bucket and some parchment dropped on the floor. Either way, they are trying to draw like 'Bas'. At least I think that is what they are trying to say. Either way, 'Bas' hopefully will keep paints, charcoal, and any other artistic media well away from little hands when they are anywhere near Juliana's and my nice silks.

I'm impressed with the way he is handling Saik finances. Saving and trading writs, negotiating them for silver to help cover barony expenses and atop that he is thoughtful. Such a lovely gift of little dragonfly earrings brightened the day.

Interesting young woman, Estaban's youngest sister. We moved her into her other sister's room since Arcelia had married out of family and got her set up with armor and a weapon as gifts from Karadoc and myself. We are trying to make her feel welcome, wanted, and wish to make a home with us. Estaban wanted us to watch out for his family. I hope she will be happy here. I love her like another sister, she's family, but hope in time we will become close friends, too.

She seems the perfect wife for Lord Ian. Patient, understanding, generous sharing his time with his duties and sailing, and a good helpmate with his ambitions toward his house. She is also very talented with her designs and a skilled archer. I'm glad am getting to know her better and even more glad we seem to get along well and like each other.

It is hard to believe, but my twins will be a year old in just a few days! They re growing so fast, already walking, Babbling up a storm and sometimes can speak clearly enough to make their wishes known. Little voices echo through the stairway of the Tower calling for 'DocPway', 'UnkaLuUPPIES', (poor Luis, has become their climbing wall), 'MamaSing' (all one word) and other cute phrases. We have not sorted out yet if 'Den' is what they are now trying to call Duke Aiden or they are referring to my dog Golden. Guess it is a matter of which one to whom they are looking at the time.

I killed a crocodile. Well, Master Harlex and the CB leader, Violet helped too, but it was biting Legate Bianca while she stood inches away from me and I just could not stand there and do nothing so I stabbed it in the eye with my dagger to make it let her go and then when it came after me, stabbed it again in the eye socket and the dagger got stuck so had to wiggle it around to get it out. Maybe that is what made it die.
Anyone know how to get eyeball icky stuff and brain juice stains out of leather armor? If so, let my assistant Micana know so she can arrange for that to be done. Icky, yuck.
