The sun rises once more on a world absent of you. I always said I couldn't imagine a future without you, and I confess that I still can't. Yet, in spite of all that, here it comes. Whether or not I'm ready for it. Each breath feels a betrayal, each moment I steal away without you. People keep telling me that I would have met the same fate, had I been there to try to keep you safe, as I always swore I would. They are absolutely correct, but I can't help but wonder, would that be so bad?
I shouldn't talk like that. You'd give me such a cross talking to if you heard me say that. I just miss you so much. We were going to do so much together. You should be here. You should be plotting a way to get Percy to marry you. You should lend me your dress so that I can feel like a paladin for a night. You should be with me.
You were my first love, my first kiss, and until the end, I know I had a significant part of your heart. I'm grateful for those 19 years of knowing you. It's greed that makes me pine for more, but, life doesn't always go as you plan, and so my plans with you were cut short. I wish we could have seen Tor together one last time. It will have to wait until our souls are rejoined with another turning of the wheel.

She is, in so many ways, entirely my opposite. I hold myself back in anything except combat, and she gives so much of herself. But one of the most treasured things about friendship is being able to enjoy each other's company no matter those differences. And, learning from them. She's quite adept at bringing people out of their comfort zone, but also supportive and kind and non-judgemental.

While I've been part of The Salon for nearly a year now, it's only been recently that I've truly had much time to spend with the Lady Fidante. I see clearly why the intellectual and social side of her was driven to create the organization, and she is unafraid to engage in debates that might draw the ire of certain people. Still, while our paths thread so closely in some ways, in others... let us hope you do not stray too far, Lady Fidante.

She came in all frills and overfancified. Silks. Lady Juliet Fidante. Milady Silk. She wanted a fight, though. So I gave her one. Even though it felt like dancing for more than half of it 'til I started to get a little (okay - a lot) more confident. Maybe a little reckless 'cause I knew my advantage. Won't do that every time, just when I know I'm good to do it. That's not showin off. That's just fact. Milady uses a lot of words. Also, she has a thing for roses? It's weird. It might be the place where she's from. Or, she really likes flowers. And leather. And a thing for spoiling.

Lady Juliet Fidante is a rare treasure, even amongst Lycenes, in how generous she is. If only I were able to warn her earlier about those that would treat her ill--. But I can promise, I will warn her in the future and protect her how I am able.

As a fellow Lycene woman with a 'reputation' (although admittedly in a far different way), I've always felt a certain kinship with Juliet. I know what it is like hear whispers in your wake. It seems we've both done the thing we shouldn't and have embraced our reputations versus letting others define us. People don't tend to like it when you don't act ashamed. They take it even worse when you adopt their insults and turn them into something else altogether. Juliet does this even more beautifully than I have.
Despite the scandal, I think anyone that underestimates Lady Juliet is a fool. She's quicker than most. It almost makes one wonder if the 'reputation' is as accidental as it might appear to be...

I finally had the chance to meet the Lady Fidante, and the opportunity did not disappoint. It makes me hopeful that the connection between her Salon and the Scholars can be forged into one of strength in communication and knowledge, to encourage informed debate on the pressing issues of the day for Arx. I look forward to a more official change to sit and discuss with her, and am left with little doubt we might spend hours speaking on a variety of subjects.
