When I am not in the tower tending to barony business and with the children, these days much of my time is spent in one or the other of the shrines.

Your birthday gifts could have been worse. I remember what they did to Lord Hadrian!

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know. I've probably said that before, but the lesson gets reinforced or retaught often enough to keep it fresh in mind.

The men of Arx must be blind to not be lining up at your door to court you. Beauty, wit, skill, generosity, loyalty, a position, much to offer in a good political match, so many things they could appreciate. Well, it is their loss and you are independent enough to not waste time pining away for 'what-ifs'. Good for you.

Phew. It is over with, or rather they are over with.
I was delighted that the village came together so nicely, homes, farms, shops and markets, forges, even some soldiers for their protection. It will be able to self sustain and survive even if the adjacent castle does not get restored and will thrive even better whenever it is repaired and in use as a training school. The students coming and going will provide a steady flow of customers for the shops.
And the concert went better than I expected. All of the singers were well prepared and some of the special effects were so dramatic.

Ouch, ow. Why did I ever agree to this outfit. No matter how carefully pinned or how skillful the tailor, when pieces are adjusted to fit, one or two of them seem to find their way to tender areas while removing the pinned garment to be sewn. At least this outfit will be ready for use for the concert. That skirt is certainly different from anything I have worn before. Wonder what the tailors call those sections that are too narrow to be flaps and too wide to be fringe, maybe just a lot of slits? The embroidery is so interesting.

I spend time practicing a song I am supposed to sing in the Bard's Concert, fretting about whether my costume for it will be ready in time, and anxiously awaiting reports on the current construction efforts in Saikland Greens. Things could be far worse!

So many memories, the fine jewelry, the open heart, the obvious love of your family, the generosity, the loyalty.
She lived an admirable life and your death leaves a void that will be hard for anyone to fill... no, that is wrong, no one can be expected to fill such a void, they will have to create their own place.
I pray Josephine will find peace and know she left behind inspiration, a good example for others to follow and was appreciated and respected. That is something all of us could hope to leave behind them.

New shipments of wine have finally arrived. Most are fruit wines, a way for our small holding to compete with the more famous red and white wines of other houses and they are so very good. Now I can fulfill those requests for apple wine and something different that I traded for some touch-up repairs to some sculptures.

Where are the pointy shoes and the bling and the sparkles? Where is that unique fashion? Ahhh, My Lord Silvio, I hardly recognized you in that black armor, stylish as you made it. Still, was good to see you, you make me smile.

Such interesting, beautiful fashion choices. I can see why my assistant referred you to a 'long stemmed red rose' in that garment with the slits up the skirt.

Sometimes it is necessary to take a few quiet days to spend with family and dull routine to help settle down after some risky adventuring. I'll soon venture forth again and seek more to do than serve as my children's captive (plushie lions of various descriptions arranged carefully in my lap and chair arms with instructions that they would attack me if I moved...thus captive), story-teller, and audience for their antics. The nanny did enjoy having a few days break though.

What one may call wrinkly and old, another calls personality lines and evidence of a life well-lived, of determination and endurance and a strength of character. I hope as I age my face will show smile lines, joyful crinkles more than the fine lines caused by scowls, worry, and grief.

Bam-Bam, That is what the twins call the armor-smith this week. Two months ago it was either Thump-thunk or something like that, or BangBang. I guess it is to be expected when their room overlooks Southport Square and they can hear him at work in the forge. They still enjoy the toy he gave them. And he was kind and patient with them when we stopped by to warm up a few minutes on the way home. He is a good man.

This feels so odd. I've had a whole hour to myself and am uninspired to do anything but sit before the fire and watch the snow fall down. Paperwork is caught up, no friends knocking on the door, no messengers impatiently lined up with missives in hand, even music has deserted me for the moment.

I wrote too soon, seems it has become read-a-story time for the twins.
