Relationship Note on Edain

Thank you, Your Grace, for your simple yet profound remarks. It seems at times that some are judged a bit more harshly than others with the additions of 'but's to the occurrences.

Relationship Note on Khanne

As well, Lady Khanne, do you hold such a warm place in my own heart. Your kind words are more generous than I deserve! I am no less grateful for them. Time does seem to conspire against us, but I am glad for the missives as well as chances to make a little something. The idea was yours, so I can hardly take credit for just putting your lovely image to metal. Still, that it had a place in your very courtyard is an honor I'm so glad to have! May you and Lord Percephon create many memories sitting upon it.

I have replaced the stolen chairs with, perhaps, better built ones that include names actually carved into them. Also, I have another to design, I think. None of this forgives the thievery though, lest someone think their jaw or kneecaps safe.

Relationship Note on Josephine

Should you ever change your mind, I would be happy to have one crafted for you as well! It is not an exclusive group, by any means. I wished the first to go to those I was closest to and share many memories with. Really, everyone should have a chair to rock in after a day at the forge, loom, or what have you.

I am not a woman prone to violence. Even pugilism is an art to me, one that I take great joy in not for the harm it causes, but because of time-honored tradition.

I think I am an understanding, kind, and giving woman. The type to make a few rocking chairs for those dear people who built their shops around the time I did. We are loosely bound, I think, by those early days starting out together. It is why I had the them made - to honor those friendships and support.

Taking gifts clearly meant for those friends inspires an anger I rarely feel. May the Gods grant me restraint should I find you before the Iron Guard does.

Relationship Note on Dawn

Sometimes while looking through my sketches to find something to copy for someone or just totally remake, I come across much older ones that make me pause with a wave of nostalgia that near takes my breath. Today it was an elegant recurve bow that I had made for Princess Dawn Grayson, who was one of the warmest and kindest people one could ever hope for. Greens, blues and turquoises - I was never able to bring myself to use those same colors together again after her disappearance. There was a brightness to her, as well as this fun and mischievous side that was hard not to adore. I didn't realize how much I still missed her until I leafed to that sketch.

Relationship Note on Austen

I'm not sure there is enough room for a lot of saved children at the forge. I mean, if they want to learn smithing I guess we could figure something out, but just, y'know. I have shelves in the back for destiny. Still, I think the world is surely a better place with Prince Ainsley Grayson in it, so do your best to make sure that continues.

I, too, have a Silas original from back in the day: a stunning dragon themed chest that is a showpiece of my shop. As valuable as my actually-commissioned painting by Master Fortunato. I feel pretty blessed to have such amazing pieces, along with the first pair of earrings Guildmaster Joscelin gifted me with. They are little bits of history that recall to mind mayhap simpler times, or what we thought were, and I treasure them immeasurably.

Relationship Note on Ryhalt

It seems vaguely unfair to threaten the loss of the much anticipated ginger inspired sweet bread! More seriously, though, it is an honor that I will cherish, along with the bread.

Relationship Note on Joscelin

Oaths and steel - you KNOW I don't want to already barge into his room without invitation! There are some places big sisters need not tread. Besides, I think he keeps pies under his bed, too. Are they in the pies?

Relationship Note on Austen

Truly, I have the most wonderful brother in all of Arx. To learn all these years later that he used to sneak off to listen to me at the forge when we were young and living in our small hamlet outside of Sanctum - I can't put it to words. There are nine years between us, so I was already apprenticed while he was barely knee-high to a war elk.

Building the room just feels like bringing a bit of those younger years back, in a way. You are very welcome, Austen, and thank you for letting me do it. Though I did fail to mention Guildmaster Joscelin's pranks...oops.

His Grace, my patron Prince Edain, and Huntsman Paige Fieldstone are exceptionally generous with their words about my crafts, for which I am grateful. That noted, it may be of little surprise that I favor fists over weapons. Now, I realize that limits one's range and I've yet to hear of a demon being taken down by pugilism, but that's also why I don't go seeking out such things. Still, I forge weapons as though I were going to wield them myself, in a way, beyond the descriptions customers give.

Axe, sword, spear, bow, flail - I guess I consider them all of equal beauty and measure. It's the who and how of it being wielded that's the interesting part.

Relationship Note on Joscelin

Scholar, please use Princess Agatha's big letters or I don't think how truly amused and filled with joy I am.

HAHAHAHAHA.

Gods, how I love you Joscelin. How could I forget? Some of those stronger wilier people were pleasant to watch, I'll admit, and that summer truly memorable. Starfish sleeping is something I greatly advocate so I'll get to work figuring out how to achieve this goal.

Relationship Note on Oliver

I never ask anyone why they want a particular thing, or a particular size. Have you seen Prince Beaumont's weapon? I find it better not to ask. Besides, as was mentioned, maybe she just wants more room. I have a huge bed so I can sleep like a starfish (which suddenly inspires me for my next theme to stock the shop with).

I mean, if it's to throw at you, the bigger the better I guess?

Okay, I'm kidding on that. Mostly.

Relationship Note on Joscelin

Hmm - I suppose we could do some sort of soldering to it? Though I might worry about compromising the solidity of it. Maybe we should just start with a new one? Notice, as well, that I don't ask why. I do not question, I just do.

I have been given reason to think upon and, thus, write about family with this visit to the Archives. Guildmaster Joscelin is someone I consider family and have since my early days in Arx. And of course, my brother Austen. The former causes me to laugh and want to harm people all in one breath. The latter causes my hair to grow a bit more white every day, I think. Hourly perhaps. Still, I love him with a fierceness that maybe only a big sister can.

I am not a violent person. Pugilism is an art that I partake in for sport or defense. But when it comes to these two people, as well as His Grace, Prince Edain, and his family? I think I would do terrible things to anyone who might hurt them. I also have some empty shelves, though I hope never to have reason to fill them with what's left of those who come for my family.

Time of need? What do I not know? Do I want to know?

Yes, scholar. This is why that white streak of hair is getting bigger. Hush.

Relationship Note on Kael

I can highly recommend Dame Morrighan, Mistress Aurora, and Mistress Petal as far as clothing goes. That is no slight to any others in the city - it is that I am most familiar with their work, which is stunning and inspired beyond measure. Either way, I would welcome the chance to meet Lord Talis! Really, any time Keatons cross my threshold, it is a wonderful day.

I think, instead, it will be me who is lucky to forge weapons for Aeryn, Talis and Kata, meant respectfully my lord. To be honored to put blades in the hands of another generation of Keatons is without description, and one I promise to do should I remain in this world long enough to do so.

Relationship Note on Kael

While doing some sketches, my mind wandered to the blade I recently made for Lord Rohran Keaton and how difficult it can be to blend the hues of green and purple together in a pleasing fashion. While I certainly would never judge any house for their colors, I just got to wondering as to why Keaton would favor those. This lead me to seek out the shelves where all my books of notes and references reside. Leafing through to Keaton, it very plainly says, 'Verdant green and black,' beneath the sigil, which itself is also quite verdant green and black. It made me wonder WHY, by oaths and steel, the color purple has stuck so in my mind when it came to creating things for House Keaton. As I keep all of my commission sketches and notes in a chest, that was my next destination. Eventually I found what I do believe was the first thing I ever made for the Count, as well as my notes related to it. Aha. From a January 1007 missive:

"The colors of House Keaton are verdant green and black, though purple looks quite fair upon my wife. Green and purple? I will leave the matter to you and trust your good taste in this judgement in what will look best for the set."

It seems I have accidentally made purple an unofficial color for House Keaton because the Count likes how it looks upon his lovely wife, the Countess Reigna.

Both my sincerest apologies along with the hope that it might possibly prove to be an affectionate family anecdote in some way.

Relationship Note on Reigna

My great respect and affection for House Keaton is no secret. Their trust in me is humbling. That vague bias noted...

Countess Reigna, you are quite rather my hero today.
