I'm just going to assume you were wildly intoxicated when you went to the archives last.

Relationship Note on Katarina

Excuse you, but Princess Alis had that commissioned for me and it would be grossly impolite to not wear it at every possibility.

When I find out I'll probably think you're all very invested in me being obsessed with bees.

Are you accusing me of pub crawling and attempting to disguise it?

Relationship Note on Tessa

My feelings are terribly hurt.

But I suppose this is another thing Lord Corban and myself can speak about in our armor laden jogs around the ward.

Relationship Note on Ryhalt

I truly underestimated how interested people would be in coming to an impromptu welcome party on my front lawn.

Welcome to Arx, Duke Ryhalt.

I can't get this feeling of inertia out of my head, like my feet are stuck in quicksand and I'm sinking despite the best of my efforts.

That was one party. Too bad I couldn't hear the vows all that well. Singing seemed good. Kael might need lessons.

Relationship Note on Edain

My mother is visiting this month. She hustled off this morning, she was excited to visit and read all of the white journals that she'd missed while in Artshall. She came back rather flustered after reading an entry of yours and told me "now don't you dare go talking like Prince Edain, I can't believe that young man putting that down in the journals for all to see!!!!!!!!!!"

Yes, all those exclamation points were necessary.

My mother is traumatized.

Relationship Note on Nicia

I don't often use the white journals as a place to discuss my personal life. But a marriage is more than just an event that occurs between two people, at least in the world that I come from. It's a joining of two houses, two families. A pooling of resources to the betterment of others beyond yourself.

This week I experienced what was without a doubt one of the best moments of my life, but also, somehow, among the scariest. Nicia Pravus agreed to be my wife and my life partner. I have the utmost faith that she will be one of the greatest duchesses that House Laurent has ever seen. She's a brilliant woman, eloquent and brave. And I don't think there was a better choice for myself or family than her.

Though I may be biased.

A great thank you to everyone that came to our small ceremony, we look forward to seeing you at the reception as well.

I'm disappointed to hear that a young commoner woman, a prodigal whose family bent the knee to the compact would be chastised for her prayers at a public religious ceremony. Regardless of their content and by members of Arvum's nobility.

The Thrax have a history and reputation of being bloody, brutal and ruthless warriors. Prince Abbas Thrax's actions in his life and more recently during the siege of Arx have reminded many of that ruthlessness, event as many others in House Thrax and their vassal houses have attempted to overcome it. Those people have my admiration for their endeavors. I hear that he's worked to make amends and he may have. Many seem to have forgiven him and that is their right.

But that does not mean that everyone in this city or within the Compact has. Commoners should not be chastised for expressing concerns over those things, even now that the actions are 'in the past' or 'amends' have been made. As an Oathlander, I believe to my bones that the nobility lives to serve the people. Petal Penrose should be praised for her devotion to the gods and to her courage in reminding everyone that these things are not so far in the distant past as others would have you believe.

Whatever the outcome of the dueling tournament tomorrow, I would like to say that I'm extremely proud of my fealty. From members of House Valardin proper all the way down to one of its counties, we've made a fine showing of the skills of the Oathlands. But it's not just the competitors, it's every person that came to support us. It makes a heart feel good.

The festival went well, better than expected. Not that I thought it would go /badly/. But in the days and moments leading up to starting an event like that it's so easy to begin to focus on all the things could possibly go wrong. I feel relieved and exhausted now that it's over. It was fantastic seeing everyone that was able to attend and I look forward to our next social event. ...Which is not going to be for months and months and months. It might be time to go into hibernation for the winter!

Despite some concerns that I may need to travel to Artshall in the midst of planning our fall festival here in the city, I've found out recently that won't be the case. There's still a tremendous amount of planning that I need to get done and my head is reeling just thinking about the details. I feel as if I used to be much more skilled with these things and that perhaps I'm losing my touch.
