Description: Tall, in fact really tall, and built with the hard lean muscle of a trained warrior, this man epitomizes the Northern Warrior. Short hair kept shaved close to his head is dark, the full beard of a dark earthy brown gives a true clue to the mans hair color, along with the heavy eyebrows set above stormy blue eyes. There's a notch of a scar that runs from above his left eyebrow, through it, across a broken ill-set nose that adds a pale contrast to the man's swarthy features. His expression does not generally seem to shift much away from stern, a faint frown seeming to lay quite naturally on his face, the rare smile seems never to reach his eyes. He tends towards the stoic, save perhaps around those he's closest to. Normally dressing his tall and broad shouldered build in leathers, heavier armor, or fur, or both may be added as needed depending on the setting the man finds himself in.

Personality: Gunnar is generally just what he seems to be, the stoic and hard bitten veteran of too many battles. Between his gruff voice, his tendency to prefer action over words, and the odd habit of frowning when pleased and offering smiles that fail to reach his eyes when not, he can be a hard man to get to know. All of this tends to conceal the man's intelligence, honor, and wit - none of which should be underestimated.

Background: Gunnar Crovane has been a warrior all is his life. From a childhood spent in the mountains of his home in Stormwall and on the decks of many a ship that plied it's seas, to the battles fought to keep that home safe, one cannot help but think that war and battle is all there is to him. While he's got a warrior's heart, a soldier's training and the skills and scars to prove it, it is those things other than his skill with sword, axe, or spear that make the rest of him.

He learned to hunt with the Duke's men, to sail with his captains, and how to choose a horse and to ride one for pleasure or war with his younger cousin Fianna, whom he in turn taught some of the sword and the axe to her - that she might defend herself as needed.

The north is a hard place, long winters make for more than enough time to learn lessons of strategy, tactics, of how to cherish peace when it is there and to do battle when that peace is threatened. Gunnar learned these things well, and in turn taught them to those after him, making a name for himself as a skilled leader of men as well as a soldier to have at one's side.

The battle at Stormwall was a turning point for Gunnar, a battle and an outcome that he is still coming to terms with.

Relationship Summary

Spouse:
  • Llewella - The Marquessa of Astarrea
  • Name Summary
Clara Ha! Marquis! That's so funny to me. Good luck ta him!
Llewella Lord Gunnar, now my husband, first came into my life during the building of the Crovane Portress. Strong, reliable, and without scandal attached to him, I think he'll make a fine addition to Melaeris.
Mikani Nice to have another cousin. Would have been nicer if I could have learned to skip rocks or shells.
Olivia He saved me from a bear that would most assuredly have made a meal of me. That earns him a future drink voucher.
Seren Marquis Gunnar is a man that knows what he wants to achieve, and I admire him for his go-get-it-ness.
Vicente The man is quite quiet and seems as though he's still trying to figure out what to do in his role. I can sympathize with that but assume he'll have an easier time adjusting as he spends more time with his new family.
