Scribble, a Delicate Social Butterfly leaves, following Delilah.

Scribble, a Delicate Social Butterfly arrives, following Delilah.

Valla, Bosun of the Black Siren arrives, following Faruq.

It is a normal day in the market. The sun is shining and it is pretty warm, being it is summer and all. The place is filled with vendors harking their wares. All sorts of things are being sold here from silk sold by well dressed merchants with guards to a lower buroughs waif trying to sell roasted rats on a stick for almost nothing. People all ages and all classes make their way through the market. It is a happening and popular place.

A murmur goes through the daytime crowd of the City Center as one of the most notables of society arrives.

5 Silvershields, Jeeves, a sophisticated valet arrive, following Rook.

5 Silvershields, Jeeves, a sophisticated valet leave, following Rook.

"Are you fucking kidding me with that price?" Adora is arguing with a stall vendor, rapping her knuckles against a board, "That's going to shatter the moment I put a tool to it! I'd take it off your hands for maybe a third of the price you're asking but solid wood? Pfft."

Miranda enters the city center, heading for the various booths of the market. She peers over shoulders or around bodies of people haggling and what not with merchants trying to sell their wares. She walks in a relaxed fashion, looking a bit as if she might really be heading to a training ground somewhere but made a stop here first.

Cora, guard cavelcade in tow, arrives to have a gander, not like she can do much else at the moment anyway. Hearing the raised voice shr goes to watch.

"Thirty thousand." Josephine is standing near a merchant who has an array of gems cut and uncut, ore, minerals, metal ingots. A piece of starry metal in her hand, holding it. "No less than seventy!" Comes back the reply from the merchant who seems to be immune to the old woman's charm. "Seventy? Oh, I couldn't possibly. Just last week you sold me two of them for ten a piece." She points back out, Josephine tapping that piece of star iron. "Surely, you could do perhaps forty?" Brows go up, just up a little, looking at him in some Kindly fashion that speaks would you say no to this lycene grandmother?

Letatria, Savereon arrive, following Aahana.

Merek is at the market to purchase some groceries, while he has on his leathers adjusted to his form. The Seer looks around a bit as he takes a moment to drink water from his flask. He places it back up and adjusts his fingerless gloves while he moves through to check on people, his cape shifted about with the sigil of the Guard upon it.

Striding through the marketplace, (corithian-styyle) helm under his arm, Domonico pauses to purchase a simple apple from a vendor. Why? They *did* look rather appealing and it's been a while since he had one. Munch. Munch.

Someone who is armed in leather graces her way across the marketplace, holding a letter in one hand, and soon enough, an early apple in another. The vendor she purchases it from is towards the midst of the market, and she plucks up the morsel. Her gaze shimmers with interest as she takes in all the activity, but it's market time at lunch. The place will always be busy with souls and actions. A friendly wave is given to Domonico, who also has the excellent sense to munch on an apple. "Best of fruit, isn't it?"

The merchant speaking with Adora is a rugged looking man in his early sixties. He seems a little frustrated with Adora. "One Third..." He says shaking his head. "I could give you for hone half, but this is two fine a wood for one third. I am offended, Mistress Adora, offended!" He says. A younger woman is bargaining with Josephine. She looks deeply torn and like she is about to melt at her following words. "Okay..." She says as if not quite sure of herself.

Faruq ambles into the city center with the rolling gait of a man who has spent more time at sea than on land. Dark eyes slip over the crowd of vendors, purchasers, and the like as Faruq moves further towards the various stalls. There are smiles that curve his lips, two fingers reach up and he tips the brim of his hat in deep nods to those he knows when he spots them. It's towards the leather vendors he initially headed but the sound of Josephine's voice catches his attention amongst the din. Turning on his heel Faruq ambles over towards where she conducts her business but waits a polite distance away for her to finish.

"Finest Plumpest Rats! Rats on stick!" The rugrat calls out. The boy looks to be just barely eighteen and is overly skinny with pimples on hi face. Two young kids come up to, wearing poor quality linens and try to trade some scrapes of yarn for the rat. A middle glass woman with about five kids puts her nose at the rats and continues on to a vendor selling pleasant pie in a flakey crust.

Domonico nods to the stranger in leather once, not impolitely. "Indeed," he says in stern agreement. Obviously he is not the words greatest conversationist.

"Beautiful, thank you." No guard today or daughter, she passes over the wealth of coin soon enough with a smile on her face. "I shall have to come back for some of your opals." She's turning away, pulling up at the sight of the bald pate'd Faruq. "My lord. A delight to see again!" Star iron being slipped away into those velvet bags on her wrists, dangling down.

Landroval, the Eagle have been dismissed.

"If it was good wood I'd be offering you half," Adora knocks on the wood again, which pretty much sounds like someone knocking on wood. "Look at all these knots! As soon as my tools hit it it's going to come apart. Is that rot?" She asks overly loudly, leaning in to peer at a dark spot.

"Lords Dominico, Faruq," Capri lifts a hand in faint greeting to the Velenosians as he notes them in the market, as well. He adjusts his rakish cavalier hat a bit before smiling faintly in their direction. "Seems that the city's center is the place to be this day, mm."

Merek looks around a bit and moves to where Adora is at to check on the goods. He has two swords on his back, a spear at the back of his waist, a mace upon a hip, and his crossbow is shifted to his back as well, while he has two knives upon the other hip. He asks, "Issues here?" about the goods.

Jyri buys himself a rat on a stick, looking absolutely pleased. He overpays the urchin, even. "Haven't had this in ages," he says, and then heads on off to some other vendors, looking down at a list. The dogs keep close to him and out of people's way, for once on leashes - they might be obedient, but there's a lot of people here.

Miranda spots Domonico and lightly skips over his way, taking full advantage of Delilah distracting him. She snatches the apple right out of his hand! She takes a bite, grinning before saying, "Gotta watch your wares, Cousin." She grins, then winks at Delilah, "My Lady."

Niklas is just walking through, on his way from here to there. He's talking idly to his new assistant, who he presumes is new to the city because he said so and why would he lie?, about the marketplace and how the most refined and tasteful people in the city gather here. His criteria is mostly based on how many of them seem excited to see him, and little to do with the actual people. "And as you can see, the hustle and bustle of the city is greatest here in the marketplace, where, you know, people buy and sell stuff. Like .... metal. And wood? I don't know. I mean, it's your job to know this stuff. If I need twelve ingots of rubicund for Tikva Day presents, you need to come here and ask around until you find the rubicund dealer."

The Lycene is eating an apple. Loquacity tends to belong when one's mouth is not occupied, and Delilah nods in solemn regard for the second most important choice of the day. She blazes a path, nearly literally, her braids luminous copper in the sun and absolutely shining. Her blithe manner and languid gait acknowledge no particular ferocity, the clamour of voices elevated in selling only holding her partly enchanted. She inclines her head to Josephine and stands on tiptoe, the better to orient herself. "Such excitement today, you'd think Rook had cut the prices down to a song." Or perhaps not really a song. She flashes that bright smile to Miranda. "Hello, my lady. You're looking very well today. That's right, there's the crush of gifts to get for days and days."

Domonico looks rather annoyed at first when his apple is taken from him and he nods in agreement, "That'll teach me to drop my guard cousin," he says, a little warmer than before, before paying for another apple from the vendor, "You well Miranda?"

The wood vendor sighs a long suffering sigh and it seems likely that he has dealt with Adora before. "You are a pain, a true pain, Mistress Adora. You sell your fancy chests and beds to the silks, they wouldn't buy, if it were all knotted. Half, half. I have to make a living. I have kids to feed!" Adora might remember this merchant is a bachelor.

The jewel vendor has an eager to please smile for Josephine.

The wood vendor then looks to Merek. "Yes, guardsman, she is trying to underpay me." he says. A slender boroughs woman darts through the crowd, heading toward Niklas who she seems about to knock into.

"It's called haggling," Adora shoots back at the wood vendor, giving Merek a look of annoyance, utterly oblivious to anything else happening, "And this wood is shit."

"It is good to see you again Messere Josephine." Faruq's deep voice cuts through the din rather easily even without raising volume: "I wanted to thank you for procuring that order I requested, and to inform you that I would like another three pieces or so within a week or two if it could be arranged?" His attention shifts over towards Capri and he bows with a flourish of his hat being swept off his head: "A pleasure to see you Lord Capri, Lord Domonico, and of course Lady Miranda as well." He laughs softly and his smile widens when he spots Coraline: "Why Princess, always a pleasure."

Merek takes a moment to look at the goods for a moment, and shakes his head a bit. "Hmm, well here take this," he places the silver upon the counter, 500 silver. "Get all you need from him."

Hearing one of her titles in a familiar voice Cora looks around, "Lord Faruq hello." Cora greets with a smile, "A nice day to be out isn't it?"

Miranda grins at Domonico, keeping her stolen apple. "I am doing very well, Cousin, thank you." She looks to Delilah, "I am well, and yourself?" She hears her name and oohs, "My Lord!" She waves her apply at Faruq, "You are looking smashing today!" She does seem to be in a rather fantastic mood today!

Merek picks up 500.0 silver from a belt made with black leather, and small compartments.

"My dear Prince Niklas," Delilah raises her voice. In a market, that may be utterly difficult, but the clarity the Whitehawk girl can abruptly call on is tremendous. "Take three steps to the side, now!" It's all amounts of playful as she pulls a carnation from her hair and tosses it his way at the same time, albeit probably not at all significant. Just a flower for him to catch. If only.

Niklas completely misses that some scumbag commoner is about to collide with him. Gesturing instead to Adora he says, "That is Mistress Adora who owns Bell Cabinets and Bookcases. I will allow you to put that one together yourself. Her dreadful personality is made up for by her tremendous skill with a, you know, whatever carpenters use. Hammers? Do they use hammers? And... and saws?" Sam just shrugs, like he has no idea how to carpent at all. Niklas steps when he hears Delilah and moves to catch the flower. "Gift giving day isn't for another two weeks, Lady Delilah!"

The kids bargaining rats look over to Merek with wide eyes when he gives Adora the money. They give him these puppy dog eyes. "Sir, Sir, if you are buying for people!" A boy of about ten calls out. The woman is about to bump into Niklas. She is in her early twenties, slender, plain and in common clothing.

Josephine is about to answer Faruq, but grandmothers? They see all. They really do make the best busy bodies and nosey neighbours because she's striking away from the nobleman toward Niklas. "You!" Severe disappointment Niklas's way. "You!" Even deeper, oyster shaded silk fluttering as she makes her way toward him. "Get you -hand- out of his -pockets-! Don't you even think about it young lady! Shame on you!" Striding right up to the woman.

Faruq checked perception at difficulty 15, rolling 1 higher.

Miranda checked perception at difficulty 15, rolling 6 lower.

Jyri almost walks into a stall. That's about how perceptive he is. If it wasn't for the dogs leading the way he'd just smash his face into things, all day long. Maybe that's how he lost that eye? Seeing Merek, he gives the officer an upnod and tears a chunk off his rat-snack. However, he does hear that call and turns around to see where it comes from, though he's not alarmed.

Merek checked perception at difficulty 15, rolling 5 lower.

Adora checked perception at difficulty 15, rolling 11 higher.

Domonico nods at Faruq, his manner polite and military, "Lord Faruq." He notes Capri's greeting as well and nods to him to as well. Delilah's warning causes him to stiffen and he immediately moves closer to Miranda, eyes darting around for a threat to his cousin.

Adora gives Merek a quick look of surprise that is immediately replaced by her usual flat one as she pockets that money. "Don't know that I'll spend any of that on him unless he's willing to lower his fucking prices," she says with a significant look to the vendor she's dealing with.

Capri checked perception at difficulty 15, rolling 7 lower.

Delilah is already in motion, the other flowers studded in her braids -- just four -- an easy thing to follow where she goes. "You're always so unexpectedly and unabashedly generous, even when you don't know it, your highness. How could I resist?" Laughter lilts through the air as she closes in to the opposite side, not stopping Josephine fro beating him with her oyster purse. Domonico and Miranda she circles around, nodding to Faruq.

Merek looks to the side and notes the kid with the rats. He takes some more coin from his belt, about 500 also to give to him. "There you go," he then shifts his cape about into the cloak it actually is, the sigil of the Guard upon it, "What's going on here?" he calls out askance, as he holds up his crest then places that back upon his cloak, approaching the woman that was moving to Niklas.

Miranda frowns at Delilah a moment, then turns to look towards Niklas and the woman running at him. She can't see a thing! "Rob who?" she asks as she tries to see just WHO Delilah means. She affords a glance towards Domonico who is suddenly closer to her and she looks about a moment, as if the threat might be closer than she thinks!

Merek picks up 500.0 silver from a belt made with black leather, and small compartments.

Faruq laughs at Miranda's comment, a deep booming sound that carries well: "Why thank you Lady Miranda, you are looking rather ravishing as always." Catching sight of Delilah and the flower throwing he bows to Delilah and the rest as well before sliding his hat back on: "Always a pleasure Lady Delilah, good to see you again hmm?" His eyes sparkle with mirth but then Josephine is stalking away over to Niklas. Turning Faruq ambles over towards Coraline: "What is that all about, do you know?" He asks her.

Completely unaware of anything untoward going on, Capri has an easy grin on his face as he nods at Faruq. "I trust all is well. Princess," he adds to Coraline in greeting. Though not familiar with her, Faruq's greeting seems to precipitate his own. It's only aobut then that he starts to vaguely become aware of shouts and such - the De Lire turns to start scanning the market, one eyebrow raising.

There is a sound in the distance of people approaching the market. Which is really no big deal. People approach the market all the time after all. However the more alert can hear the sounds of dogs, lots of dogs.

The wood vendor seems unaware of these dogs. He looks red-faced and flustered though! Niklas is able to step to the side of the woman who gives him a not-so-innocent smile. "Sorry your Highness." She says, but seems to give up her attempt at stealing. The kids are all delighted by Merek's money. The rush over to pastry merchant. "Thank you sir!"

Vald, an adorable spotted lynx kitten, Jacinthe, Arindais, a dour-looking Scholar arrive, following Sina.

Between Josephine shouting in his direction and Delilah gesturing at him, it's possible even someone as absorbed in his own amazing self as Niklas is going to stop his ramble to look up. But then it looks like Josephine is about to hit him with her purse and he takes a step back. "What?! Is this because of that white where I said you were having my baby? THAT WAS AN ACCIDENT! The... the white, not the baby. I mean, there is no baby. Obviously! Not that you aren't, I mean, you cut a striking figure, but..." Sam leans forward and taps Niklas on the arm, then gestures to the girl who is stepping away. Niklas looks from the girl to Josephine, then says, "OH! Okay. Uh. Yeah." And then starts quickly walking away, giving Delilah a quick nod as he does so.

Adora tilts her head just slightly. "You know. Maybe I want to see some of that over there," she tells the vendor, hauling herself up rudely onto the stall countertop and walking over to make a show of looking at the posts of the stall itself, while actually looking out at something approaching.

Jyri doesn't hear, nor see, much of anything. He's focused on his list and is rat-on-a-stick. The dogs that he has with him? They sure hear dogs barking in the distance, so they look up and begin to wriggle and try to pull Jyri in that direction. "Hey," the Iron Guard grumps, putting that list away from now, squinting off where the dogs are pulling towards. "Whatcha hearing there."

Delilah's joyous little wave to the varied Lycene nobility sees her almost tumbling onwards to that collision course with Niklas. She chimes something to him, then ventures to give the cheeriest of finger wiggles to Josephine. "Come on, let's go escape the trouble with implying you've sown your wild oats away from the woman who provides the best star iron in the city. We wouldn't wish to offend her. Hello, Mistress Josephine, and I promise to not let him ruin your day too much." She all but dances aside, smiling at Sam. That apple may be uneaten, but it's a plenty fun projectile.

Domonico tilts his head as he clearly hears the sound of animals approaching and his gaze scans the area, one hand resting on Miranda's arm, "Apologies cousin," he murmers as he glances around, trying to pin point the noise

Miranda takes a moment to realize that the 'threat' seems to be handled. "That seems to be taken care of..." She cuts off whatever she was saying as Domonico rests his hand on her arm. "Problem?" she asks more seriously, eyes flitting about her to see over the crowd, "What is it?"

Cora looks about for what that is and shakes her head at Faruq's question, "I don't know I am afraid." Capri gets a smile, "All is quite well, how do you do?"

Faruq's attention is drawn off into the distance as well. The sounds of the dogs. The distinct sound of steps approaching more or of different cadence than normal: "I wonder if there is a parade or something." He muses to himself. Attention shifting back to Coraline after watching Josephine and Niklas: "Ah, likely a pick pocket. Always a danger around here. Many people come with a lot of silver to make expensive purchases."

Arriving at the market from a Northernly direction are three men and about twenty dogs between them. The dogs look pretty wild, feral and angry. The men seem much the same. "Alright, let them loose! Get em silks!" One of the men says and they start to release their dogs.

"Indeed! You'd best say you are sorry." Josephine wags a finger. "Make better choices young lady. Make better choices." Niklas's protestations are met with a kind pat to his shoulder. "It's fine. She was about to rob you. Lady Delilah, get him a drink for the terrible shock." And she's adjusting those oyster colored silk skirts and starting to head back where she was coming from, though distracted by making sure all her own purchases are where they should be at her wrists.

"Well enough, Your Highness. Lord Capri de Lire," Capri introduces himself with an easy, bright smile at Coraline. He glances at Faruq as the man looks off, then looking off into the distance himself with a faint shrug. "I hear nothing, I'll admit."

Merek has joined the line.

Capri has joined the line.

Domonico frowns as he peers, "I don't know. Just... be aware I think... Wait." The arrival of the men and the dogs causes him to haul Miranda being him. "MIRANDA! Back now!"

Miranda has joined the line.

Josephine has joined the line.

Faruq has joined the line.

Domonico has joined the line.

Delilah has joined the line.

Jyri has joined the line.

Niklas has joined the line.

Delilah's stride is a graceful thing even in the midst of people, though they're shoulder to shoulder. Her path steadily cuts northward, directly opposite the men with the dogs. "Your Highness, if you can prevent anyone from panicking, now is the time. Otherwise the most direct route out of here is directly ahead of us, though you can use some of the market stalls for cover." Her words to Niklas are soft and deliberate. "And Mistress Jo--" She's gone. Alas.

Coraline has joined the line.

Adora has joined the line.

"Ah, Lady Delilah, it does appear that we are too late to sneak our way out of here." Niklas looks back to Sam, "Run the other way, Sam. There are some Iron Guard here, but I think we'll probably want more." He looks from the men to Coraline, Dominico and Merek, then adds, "Or maybe a coroner."

Turn in line: Capri

Sina makes her way into the market area, followed by her two assistants, Jacinthe and Arindais. The later of the pair looks like he'd rather be anywhere else, his dour experssion unchanging as they enter the swirl of vendors and hawkers and potential buyers. The white-robed priestess doesn't seem to be aware that anything is going on at first, just another visit to the market for her. Sina makes her way, of course, toward the book vendors, and is on the way there when the dogs are let loose. She pauses, finally seeming to realize something is going on, and glances around in confusion.

Cora looks around to see what is happening even still, "I didn't hea..." And then there are men and dogs and she does hear the call to let em get it. Frowning Cora draws her axe, "I think I need to go about protecting people, excuse me if you would please." So saying she moves to stand between dogs and innocent people, axe at the ready.

Coraline wields Amare, a diamondplate battle-axe.

Domonico wields Wavecutter, a high quality steel Xiphos.

Miranda wields Ruby, a ruby-garnet rubicund saber.

Capri wields Ambush, the guardian sword.

Jyri wields Long Spines, a spear.

Sina has joined the line.

Niklas wields a musical wooden lute.

Faruq wields Black Diamond - a Diamondplate Great Scimitar.

Adora wields an apple that she starts to eat.

Sina wields coastal thunderstorm black steel hairpins.

And then there's chaos in the city center, and wild dogs - twenty at least - are running through the crowds. Capri leaves off his conversation with Coraline as she draws her own axe, pulling a diamondplate sword from a plain, unadorned scabbard and brandishing it himself. "Well, this is a turn." With that, the De Lire steps forward to endeavour to drive off any running amok canines that come in his direction, plainly intent to put himself in between those that are fleeing and the dogs themselves.

The dogs are starting to charge through the market even as the heroes of compact get ready to defend. Most of the market vendors and attendees are trying to hide or escape. The wood vendor looks terrified. "Just my day, just my day, first Adora and then this!" he cries. The young jewel vendor is crying. The boy with the rats is reaching for a rusty small knife. The waifs are hiding behind the pastry cart. The woman middle class woman with her six children is dangerously close to those dogs. The thief well is looking to take advantage of the chaos.

Jyri drops his rat on a stick with a curse and swings that spear in front of himself. After that, he releases the latches on the leashes of his dogs, but the dogs aren't running off yet - they're waiting for commands.

Merek checked charm + animal ken at difficulty 30, rolling 9 lower.

Miranda is pulled behind Domonico, surprised! BUt instead of staying there, it gives her a moment to pull her saber and use that momentum to gain speed and head towards the dogs that're coming towards the crowd! She moves to put herself between the dogs and innocents. As she does, she calls out in a bellow, "Cousin! Faruq!" Yes, call out to the fighters why don't she, as she heads forward towards the danger!

Merek checked dexterity + dodge at difficulty 30, rolling 11 higher.

Go get the silk. That has Josephine turning around, dropping an arm at the sight of the many, many, many dogs. "Thirteenth..." She's trying to move then, not directly to the side, but back to the jewel vendor as swift as she can go. "Behind your booth dear! Behind your booth! Quickly now!" Any children that might be out, deer in headlights'ing it will attempt to be snatched up and brought to safety if possible.

Turn in line: Josephine

For having not noticed the dogs at all, Capri is quick to react. Sword in hand, he drives off several off the canines backward, staving them off as he manages to remain unharmed by the swarm. "Well, fuck me here," he mutters to himself. Then, more loudly, "Where the hell did they come from?"

Merek points over to Jyri, "You, get the crowd out of here," he states, while he draws his mace and shifts it around while he moves to where the dogs are between the crowd and them. He tries to draw them away from some of the others that are moving to assist people as he swings to keep them backed up and hopefully draw attention, though mainly he gets the attention of one, the one that seems to not like him being in front of the people it wants.

20 inflicted and Josephine is harmed for serious damage.

Dog and Miranda meet and her sword connects to the dog, causing it to howl as she gives it a nice slash. It tries to snap its jaws at her, but she is light on her feet and stays clear of the beast!

Coraline checked dexterity + dodge at difficulty 30, rolling 21 higher.

Dogs go charging at Josephine as she tries to usher kids and the crying jewel merchant to safety. They are about to be overrun. Coraline sees what is happening there, darts over to them and manages to keep the kids from being hurt as she stands bodily in the way. Josephine though is viciously attacked by a dog that lashes onto her leg though. That has to hurt! The dog is still clamped on. Thanks to Coraline the kids are unharmed.

Faruq frowns: "That is not a parade." There is no hesitation as he starts to move towards the dogs, drawing the great big sword from his back: "It looks like I picked a good day to actually bring Black Diamond with me." Faruq's gaze narrows. A nod is dipped towards Coraline in agreement. Miranda's call out to him has him answering: "I see it my lady." Not only do his long strides carry him towards the animals as they rush towards the people in the city center there is a blur of diamondplate as he whips the great scimitar around to the ready. As a dog rushes towards him he doesn't dodge. He swings a great scything cut with the curved blade. The Sword of Ischia calls out: "Those men! They brought the dogs!" His eyes fix on the handlers of the animals. Priority demands he protect those others whom are about to be savaged by nearly feral canines first! A glance shows how many others are rising to deal with the dogs. With a grim expression he advances through the canines as best he can towards their handlers. Two dogs feel the wrath of the Seraceni, cutting into them but not killing them. Maybe his intention was just to gain their attention on his way through.

40 inflicted and Faruq is unharmed.

Turn in line: Domonico

Turn in line: Delilah

Domonico runs forward at Miranda's cry, his xiphos Wavecutter out and swinging as he tries to stem the tide of dogs with it. There is a whine of pain from a canine as it's sharp edge slices through its hiude and he sidesteps its bite, holping he injured it enough that it out of the fight.

Turn in line: Niklas

Is that the possibility of mass hysteria unleashed in the marketplace through the clash of swords and the snap of fangs? Blood paints the air with its ferris tang as the soldiers and martially inclined fall into place. Delilah withdraws, keeping herself between Niklas and the rest of the crowd that mills or flees for cover. In her leather armour, she at least has better protection than aeterna, no matter what King Alaric claims. Her voice lifts in a brilliantly clear pitch over the northern side of the marketplace. "Don't rush, you'll only trample one another. Follow Prince Niklas! The guard will hold the dogs at bay, but follow us!" She raises her hand into the air for a good signal that civilians might follow. "You in the blue shirt, follow me back! Ladies by the metal vendor, come out together. Everyone, grab someone else's arm, and let's move. No running!" That rising tide is a warble of a call, echoes of her cousin the commander of the Iron Guard in it, solid and steady. Nope, not afraid. Projecting that ease and certainty counts. "Don't run, fill in the path between the stalls. Let's go, let's go! The prince will lead us out!"

Niklas checked charm + manipulation at difficulty 50, rolling 5 higher.

*ferrous* tang, because autocorrect. :P

With the chaos around, Jyri keeps his cool - he strides with long steps towards the most dire situation, the dogs attacking Josephine. "Attack!" he orders his own dogs, and the three animals shoot off to stave off dogs coming at the nobles. He positions himself in the way of the dogs, where the kids that Josephine try to help are, and wields the spear in front of himself. He growls out a rough, commanding shout at the dogs "Halt! You bloody mutts, you all bugger off!" The dogs veer away from that area by that shout, to allow the kids to run off. The three dogs that are Iron Guard soldiers of their own right, move in to engage some of the dogs, keeping them busy and fighting.

Turn in line: Coraline

Seeing Josephine trying to get kids to safety, and seeing how close the dogs were Cora runs to put herself between the dogs and the kids. She can't protect everyone but she does put herself between the children and the gods yelling, "Get the kids out of here I will hold this lot off."

Merek says, "l"

Sorry, Delilah! Prince Niklas is about to do something dumb! Rather than running out, though he does pause to gesture for people to go THATAWAY, he jumps up onto a stall so he stands out in the crowd, boy Sabella would not be on board with this, and he shouts to the men, "This is a mistake, guys! You're after silks? I see six here, and five of them are ready to /fuck you up/!" He points at Coraline, "I once saw Princess Coraline hit a guy so hard with that battle-axe she cut him scapula to scrotum! Lord Domonico once killed two shavs in one thrust, pinning straight through the heart of one and into the chest of the one behind him! Lord Faruq once decapitated a man /through the fucking shoulders/ and it was so bad the other six pirates standing nearby started throwing up and tossed themselves into the brine rather than keep facing him! And I haven't even started on Sir Merek, who wears a fucking arsenal and is always ready to shove any of them right up your arsenal, so I'd strongly suggest you reign in your dogs and scoot the fuck on home before one of these people makes orphans of your kids, widows of your wives or husbands as you may prefer, and poorer men of your loan sharks!"

Turn in line: Adora

Adora checked dexterity + athletics at difficulty 30, rolling 12 lower.

Adora rolls her eyes at the whole display from her perch up on the wood vendor's stall. She puts the apple in her mouth so she can unhook the tarp that hangs over the posts of the stall then sort of flings it out towards a group of the dogs. The intent was probably to cover them, but what with the weight of the tarp and the wind is kind of just slumps, "Eh," she says with a shrug, leaning back against one of those posts that is now not shielded from the sun as she takes a bit of her apple, "Do I look like a fucking silk? Your dogs are trained for shit!"

Miranda is overheard praising Niklas: Amazing! To remember the deeds of others and to use those deeds to strike fear into the hearts of bad men who've come to kill, harm, and steal from good, innocent folks! Bravo, Prince! Bravo!

Talyan, a frazzled apprentice arrives, following Saya.

The three men seem truly influenced by Niklas' words. One starts to take backwards steps as if retreating while watching his back. Another turns around and tries to run away. The third is trying to the call the dogs back. The dogs are all amped up and not listening to him though.

Faruq is charging toward the three handlers. He was attacked by the dogs, but seems unharmed. He hurt two of them on his way. Jyri has managed to calm one of the wild dogs. He got the dog off Josephine and is helping to keep the kids safe. His dogs seem to be helping him with such. Coraline has protected the kids near Josephine and because of her quick thinking, they were uninjured. Merek is giving instruction and trying to calm the dogs, all while dodging their attacks. Adora just tried to throw a tarp on the dogs and failed. One growls at her menancingly. Domonico is attacking the dogs. He hurt one and dodged their attacks. Delilah successfully gets many in the crowd to get of the way and likely saved many from harm with such. Josphine's right leg is bleeding and badly injured. She will probably have a hard time running or dodging. Miranda also attacked the dogs and dodged their attacks.

In summary there are a bunch of wild dogs running about attacking people. The handlers are retreating. The thief starts picking the pockets of those retreating. Some dogs are close to attacking the woman and her six kids. Just moment away from such! The wood vendor is cowering. The jewel merchant is still crying. The waifs are still behind the pastry cart. The rat merchant attacked a dog, but got attacked in return. He has a dog attatched to his leg now and it doesn't look good.

Cora doesn't notice anything about the dogs except now the kids are away and the woman with children is in danger, she yells at the rat merchant, "Get over here so I can protect you." Before sliding in between the woman with kids and the dogs. "And someone get that fuckin theif."

"Hey!" Adora calls out to the thief, while eyeing the growling dog below her, "You've been made like seven fucking times now, cut it the fuck out!"

Domonico is more concerned with avoiding the snarling dog's teeth than pay attention to the state of it (or a thief).

Knowing dogs well enough and having seen the state they're in, Jyri casts one glance around to see how the kids and Josephine are doing - before he shouts out. "They're starving dogs! Lure them to that stall, the one that sells jerky! Wave the food, call them towards you!" he shouts out, hoping to get some help trying to entice the dogs to there, luring them in before he goes that way himself with a loping jog.

Turn in line: Miranda

Miranda is in a dance of her own with the dog she hit before. She doesn't take her eyes off of it, but is aware of what is going on around her. A Prince shouting intimidating words. Faruq cutting a line through the animals. Domonico nearby, dealing with a dog of his own. Her own dog waiting for her to show some weakness to take advantage of. She won't give it that chance and attacks her dog, to finish it off (hopefully)!

Faruq doesn't have eyes for the thief anymore, his eyes are only on the handlers for the dogs. Niklas' claim draws a wide feral grin on Faruq's face though. A sweep of his arm sends blood from canine's splashing to the ground leaving Black Diamond clean and unsullied. The dogs that have attacked him gnaw at his leathers, teeth savaging the material but are unable to get to his dark flesh beneath. He yanks his legs free of the savaging teeth trying to not let them slow him down in his desire to close on the handlers.

40 inflicted and Faruq is unharmed.

Merek looks then towards the other, "You seem to have this well in hand," he offers, noticing that the plan he had in mind too is the most useful one. As such it should be easier to handle the dogs, so he moves then to weave through them. He charges at one of the fleeing handlers, whichever one looks like the leader while his mace comes around as he shifts his hip, hitting where it will likely break a rib, and slow him enough that he has to comat with them. He's trying to be non-lethal with his methods, with the fact of his weapon he's using.

Turn in line: Delilah

Delilah checked charm + diplomacy at difficulty 30, rolling 9 higher.

Faruq is under assault by the dogs, but his leathers are enough to keep him safe for the time being. Kicking at them to get clear enough to move freely Faruq charges towards the nearest handler: "You have made a grave mistake." His deep voice not rich, but angry, jaw clenched with it his words grating out from between his teeth! A whirl as he rips free from one of the dogs that has latched onto his leg with it's teeth. The distance closed finally. Diamondplate cuts the air with a whistle. Curved blade meets flesh and whatever armors the handler might be wearing but it proves ineffective for the most part. Blood flies as the Sword of Ischia slashes into his foe with righteous determination. The handler staggers from the wound as blood flows freely. The handler is tougher than he looks however and he does not fall.

Not yet.

Merek checked willpower at difficulty 20, rolling 8 lower.

Prince Niklas threatens the onlooking troublemakers from on high, and the woman telling the crowd to leave by way of his whereabouts turns her attention back to the imperiled family with children clinging to their mother like frightened ducklings facing down the dogs. She points her hand to them. "This way! The dogs are closing and there are children! Princess Coraline, I can't reach them in time if you can!" That first call made, she darts forward a few steps and holds out her hands, gesturing for those not yet out of reach to safety in the northern market to follow. "Come, let's open up a path if we can. Hey! Kid with the brown hair, take your little brothers' and sisters' hands. Then you're going to try to get to us, okay? Move back, try to stay away from the dogs. You can meet Prince Niklas! It's just going to be like a game of old rover. Old rover, old rover, we call you and your siblings over!" She bounces on her toes, hair snapping copper-bright in the light, bouncing up and down. Maybe she's terrified but it doesn't show, that sunny brightness burning around her in the smile and the confidence projected widely outwards. "Let's do this!"

Turn in line: Josephine

The dog that was using her as a chew toy is gone, off and Josephine's taking that opportunity to curl up, make herself as small as possible and do her best to drag herself away from the heart of all of that, and toward a stall, velvet bags in her wake.

Running towards the jerky stall, Jyri barks a command to his own dogs. "Outi, Tero, Onida - over there!" He points towards the woman with the kids, and the three dogs all look up sharply, then run over to help fight dogs that way instead. Reaching the stall, he tells the vendor: "I'm taking that. Dire need and all," He grabs a handful of the meat. "And you might want to get the hell outta here cause this is going to be filled with dogs." He then jumps up, lets out a sharp whistle by butting fingers in his mouth, calling for the dog that is biting the rat-on-a-stick salesman. "Hey! This is the good stuff, come here." He waves the meat - and that dog releases the leg of the man and starts loping towards Jyri, smelling the food.

Hearling Delilah, Cora makes it over to the woman with children and as she slips between the kids and a dog, mid pounce, Amore, her axe, meets the dog mid-air and it goes flying with a yelp. She hopes she hit it with the non edged side but honestly her priority is taking care of the ones she is protecting, probably some broken bones in that thing at least. "Stay behind me and stay safe, kid with the cooked rat, stop staring and fucking MOVE."

Domonico whirls around, quickly assessing the situation and spies the danger towards the children that Delilah are ushering out. He springs into action, corded muscles pumping as he leaps onto a market stall and launches himself at the dog closest the children with a cry of "MALVICI!!" His blade flashes in a downward strike and there is a yelp of pain as Wavecutter strikes true! He lands between the children and other animals, eyes focused on the nearest danger.

Niklas squats down to grab a bunch of rats on a stick from the vendor on to whose kiosk he leapt up (it's okay, he can pay for them later), then he drops down and flings rats left and right toward any dogs that look like they're getting too close to snapping at civilians. All while he makes his way over to Josephine and reaches down to help her get to safety. "C'mon, Sabella's going to end up with a third rate tiara if you get your arm chewed off!"

Faruq attacked one of the handlers and so far is unharmed by the dogs going after him. The handlers seem frightened and are trying to escape. Merek also attacked one of them. Two of the three handlers are injured. The thief is discouraged by Adora's words and tries to go darting out of the market. Josephine is injured and bleeding. Niklas is helping to keep her safe. Coraline is protecting the civilians and just injured a a dog. Delilah helped to usher the mother and six kids to safety. Domonico jumped in the way to make sure they weren't attacked and took out one of the dogs near them. Miranda killed the canine on her and dodged their attacks. Jyri drew away the dog on the rat merchant. He has calmed down two of the enemy dogs so far. His canines are helping to protect the children. Niklas distracted the dogs near him and Josephine with rats on a stick. The dogs start eating.

The overall current situation is that the two of the three handlers are injured and all are trying to flee. The thief is fleeing. Two of of the twenty dogs are dead and about four are injured. Two of the dogs are subdued by Jyri. About five of the dogs are distracted by eating. Seven are still healthy and attacking. Josephine is injured and the rat merchant is injured. The people are trying to feel and the kids have been protected.

Miranda takes a moment to see where other dogs have gone. She leaves the handlers to others and makes a run for a dog. She dodges fangs and claws like she is dancing on water and swings her saber to hit one of the dogs, causing it to howl in pain, matching her own cry of battle!

Quickly assesses that the injured dog is less likely to be an immediate threat to those fleeing, Domonico suddenly throws himself back as the snarling teeth of another canine snap at him. Domonico's own bite, that of Wavecutter, doesn't disappoint and he stabs it forward, slicing through fur and hide as he grunts with the effort.

"Outi, Tero, Onida - get him!" Jyri barks out. Indeed, he's got a somewhat wolfish demeanor himself, snarls and growled commands to the dogs - his own and enemy ones. The three dogs look up towards him, then orientate themselves and races towards the third handler, a lethal trio slavering at the mouths. These are no lap dogs, that's for sure. The handler is trying to run off but finds himself pounced by Onida and surrounded, the three dogs biting hold of clothing to keep him pinned. What goes around, comes around.

Jyri then does another sharp whistle, throwing down more jerky around himself near the stall and into the stall itself, in an attempt to herd the remaining wild dogs in there and trap them. "Keep feeding them!" he shouts out, and he manages an upnod of thanks at Niklas who has done exactly that.

Faruq flips his blade around to sling blood off it's gleaming length again, the curve along the last third of the blade whistling softly through the air with the keening wail for more battle as it cuts the air. More bloodshed. Hearing Merek's call Faruq's chin dips towards his chest as the canines keep trying to pull him to the ground. To savage his legs and take them out from under him. It doesn't work. Another swing of the blade held in a two handed grip flashes through the air. Faruq's blade flashes low in an attempt to take the man's legs out from under him. He twists his wrists to try and hit with the flat of the blade and send him sprawling! As thick as the blade is though it throws off his aim slightly from wind resistance.

Several of the dogs are feasting on rat meat and on jerky. It seems like they were utterly starving. One of the handlers is surrounded by Jyri's dogs and is trying to escape. One is in combat with Faruq and trying to escape. The other is in combat with Merek and trying to escape. Most of the civilians have been protected thanks to the efforts of this group. Josephine and the rat merchant are still injured. The thief has escaped. The dogs are either dead, injured or feasting on jerky and the crisis point seems to be over.

Talyan, a frazzled apprentice arrives, following Saya.

Merek moves to hit the man with the mace again, though he is standing up still. He then shifts his weapon and speaks, "Surrender now, because this doesn't go well for you otherwise, that goes for you, one of your partners are going to talk if you keep running," he announces to the third as he flees. He shifts to weave away from the dogs as well as the man if he hits back. Eventually he knocks the man down to the ground.

Talyan, a frazzled apprentice leaves, following Saya.

Once it seems like the dogs have more interesting things to look at than her, Adora hops down, drops some silver on the countertop she spent most of the fight on, grabs an armful of wood, and give the vendor a salute, "Nice doing business with you," she comments like nothing just happened and whistling moves to head on her way.

The handler Merek does surrender to him and looks very frightened. "I surrender..." He stammers out.

Seeing that the danger seems past, Cora immediately moves to go patch up the injured, "Alright lemme see your leg Mistress Josephine, legs get you bandanged and we can head to the hospital for a proper look to, same for you master....?" to the rat seller, "Lets get you looked to as well."

The wood vendor looks spooked, but waves to Adora. "Bye, until next time."

The rat vendor seems eager to for Coraline's help. He is crying and looks miserable, but he is awake and alert, so that is a good sign at least.

"Keep him busy!" Jyri shouts to his dogs, the three Iron Hounds nipping at the heels of the handler everytime he tries to flee, panic rising. He cajoles and talks kindly to the wild dogs, making sure there's plenty of that jerky on the ground - before he jogs over to the handler his dogs have surrounded. He was focused on saving dogs and people until now. But now he lets his fury shine through as he takes his spear and brings the wood end up and proceeds to beat the handler with it, growling out words in his Shav dialect.

A final yip of pain comes from a dog as Domonico plunges Wavecutter two handed into the injured beast, putting it out of it's pain and misery. Straightening up he moves to do the same to another injured dog. Hardly heroic, but necessary.

Faruq continues his assault on the handler. Powerful swings eventually driving the man to the ground with the wind knocked out of him. Planting a foot on the downed handlers chest Faruq draws a knife from his boot. If the running handler doesn't give up and surrender Faruq flips the knife end over end at the back of the man's head. His skill such that he attempts to hit with the pommel and knock the man out rather than kill him! The knife arcs through the air in a flash to thud into the man, staggering him at the very least: "There is more where that came from!" He calls out to the fleeing handler. Meanwhile as others clear the dogs from him with food or weapon Faruq dips his chin in a deep nod: "Thank you."

The third handler surrounded by Jyri's dogs tries to defend himself, but is eventually take down by Jyri and kept from escaping by this dogs. Domonico is able it take out the injured the dog wit little difficulty. The citizens of the market seem to be grateful for all the help. A little girl tries to hug Delilah. "Thank you Lady!" and the mother looks to Niklas. "Prince Niklas, you are so kind to help protect us."

Miranda finishes off her dog. She turns in time to see a dog trying to come at her and she ducks while moving her sword in an arc. She catches the dog in mid-leap, turns with it and uses its momentum to take it down. The thing lands hard and with a whine just behind where Miranda stood and she gives it a good clean cut to finish it off. She rises then, looking to see where else she, or her sword might best be of service. A glance towards those in the stalls, to Domonico, the Prince.. and the rest, finally to Merek and Faruq. Jyri joins them and she nods to herself before making her way back towards the stalls, sword at the ready. Once she sees that the dogs are being tended to, one way or another, she nods and lowers her sword. Her chest heaves a bit with deep, heavy breaths that fill her lungs and she has a somewhat readied look about her.

Farug is able to knock out the handler near him. Merek can knock out the one near him as well. Every thing seems to be calming down. The jewel merchant even stops crying.

Tattered oyster colored silk and glass beads that barely hand on, so tiny. Josephine keeps a brave face on in case there's other children around and when Coraline's making her way over. "Tend to the merchant first. I'll survive till we make it to Solace. I'm made of stern stuff." Not that the vendor isn't.

In the relatively quieter side of the market, Delilah foregoes worrying about the thief who slipped off and tends to the children and other varied civilians around her. Must be something about being a Whitehawk that runs in the blood, given at least two of her family directly work in the Iron Guard. At least she doesn't completely disgrace herself! "It's going to be all right. Let's see, anyone who took a bite or a cut, let's get you to the front over here so we can find a Mercy or get you some medical attention," she calls out, gesturing to a spot in front of a vendor selling different kinds of woodcuts and prints. She blinks at the child trying to hug her, and opens her arms, pulling the girl in. "I'm so glad you're all right. Everyone did such a good job, didn't they?"

Merek nods a bit to the one handler that surrenders to him, and takes out some manacles which he places upon his arms, as well as his feet. At this point it is possible that another Guard has arrived to assist with the man the dogs take down, then he moves to do the same with the Faruq got down. Seems he won't have to actually throw anything, unless he wants to, while he handles that and lets the others handle the dogs. He nods thankfully to Faruq, and seems to think as he shifts his mace upon his hip.
Merek then announces, "For the crime of assault, attempted murder, and sedition, you are to be taken to the stocks of the Guard. You will each receive ten lashes with the whip, and then turned to the Inquisition for questioning," he voices, then he looks back to the nobles that are around, "If that is permissible to you all."

Jyri has no intention of fighting fairly. The dogs and him beat up that handler with a sort of half cruel vengeance. The last thing Jyri does is aim a kick at the man's stomach before he steps back, giving the man one last contemptuous look before he hauls him up and drags him towards the center of things. Seeing all the dead dogs, he grits his teeth and drops the handler on the cobblestones, giving his dogs the command to guard him. Not that he'd get very far - but he isn't dead. He too is being manacled. The sentence from Merek has him flashing a quick grin in approval.

Cora sighs and nods at Josephine's words before speaking gently to the young vendor and begins work on doing a field patchup on the kid, "Its alright, nothing perminent you will be out there in no time selling your wares. I might even come by and buy one hmm, never tried rat on a stick, from how quick the dogs grabbed em they have to be good right?" she keeps on chattering to the kid even while she cleans the wound and bandages it, "We are going to get you to Solace, I think Mistress Josephine is right, closest place to get to. And I will be getting her patched up next, stern stuff or no," she says still talking to the kid but grins at Josephine, "Because bleeding everywhere just isn't in fashion right now, right?" She asks the kid as she determinedly moves to do the same for hte older woman, "Now don't you hit me with anything, bad form to hit the healers." she says grinning as she moves to get to work, "Don't worry this is just to make it so you won't bleed out on your way to Solace, nothing good about passing out."
