The dedication was well attended, including the king and a few high lords. A fitting crowd for an exceptional ship named for an exceptional woman. I'm sure Carlotta would rather be here - I know I'd rather she were here - but I think she'd approve of this tribute.

Relationship Note on Jaenelle
Princess Jaenelle Velenosa, formerly of House Thrax. She seems like a sweet and kind woman but there must be more to her. Why else would Eleyna name her Voice? I look forward to finding out how capable she is, for she must be a formiddable woman, like many from Houses Thrax and Velenosa.

Being named Sword of Lenosia was an unexpected honor. I have seen and been around the Mirror Blade my whole life but never did I imagine I would wield it for House Velenosa. There is a long list of men and women that I must live up to and I intend to.

Duchess Calypso Malivici has been helping me to better understand how to be a good leader and a good military commander. Her help has been invaluable and I appreciate her assistance. Now I just have to beat her at that strategy game. One day!

The change in leadership within the Lyceum went smoothly. Thankfully. Were violence used, we no doubt would have been involved in an escalating conflict that I don't think we could have survived fully intact. Eleyna will rule well. I should talk to Duke Niccolo to see how he's doing.

After speaking with Lady Calypso and considering, I've joined the Ministry of Defense as an agent. It will not interfere with my duties as Baron and Knight of Solace and will afford me the opportunity to provide a more robust defense of the Compact and those I care about than I was about to during my late arrival at the siege.

Relationship Note on Ophelia
Luca's sister. As with many of the Velenosa family members around my age, we knew each other as children in Lenosia. Then, as now, she is sweet and kind and apparently quite guileless. If I were a cynical man, I would be suspicious! But I am not.

Relationship Note on Talen
Talen Artiglio, something of a scoundrel - but a productive one! Now he's Talen Velenosa and is married to Eleyna. A ward of the Archduke after his father took poison meant for Niccolo, I never knew him that well growing up. He did seem out of place amongst all the princes and princesses but now he's one of them. In title, at least. I'm sure he'll adapt, though.

An old friend from our Lenosia days. She is different in some ways now that we've reconnected - finally - in Arx but deep down she is the same person I knew and befriended all those years ago. She is wed to Talen, who is now a prince. They have an interesting relationship.

Relationship Note on Leta
Dame Leta Broadbent is a newly knighted vassal sworn to House Velenosa. We met in the training center and she did a number on me. So, it seems like she's probably a good addition to Velenosa's cadre of knights! She's a fine fighter - sturdy and well-built, confident, good footwork. She's been tasked with learning more about the Lyceum and I've offered my help should she take me up on it.

I met this week with Archduke Niccolo to discuss the refugee crisis and how House Gilden could help. I had already spoken with Lady General Calypso and pledged silver and resources to relocating the poor souls to Caith where they will find housing and jobs. It will be good for the people who need homes and good for Caith as well. New neighbors, a mixing of traditions, a new way forward for a growing barony. I have the Archduke's support in this, of course, and I hope the people I am fortunate enough to assist will be happy and find some measure of peace.

A lawyer whose family is sworn to House Gilden. She's offered to help me with the adminstrative side of running the barony, for which I am grateful. So long as she produces, at least! I'm not sure what to think of her otherwise. More later, maybe.

Relationship Note on Luca
Luca Velenosa, now Grayson, is an old friend. We had something of a rivalry as younger men - a friendly one - but I've been consistently unable to defeat him in a spar. I won't even say something like 'perhaps one day' because I doubt that day is going to come any time soon. He has recently married Princess Reese Grayson and gone to join that family. I don't think it will change much as far as our friendship is concerned.

My time here in Arx thus far has been an unusual one. The siege has definitely made things interesting and I write now as it comes to and end. One way or another, so I think. I'm confident in victory, but the cost will be high. For now, I stand with my brothers in sisters of the Silver Order. It's good to prepare to fight again after so long. Time on the road has made me rusty with a sword but I'm improving.

A fellow Knight of Solace, Sir Armel is knight commander. It's been years since we last met back in Southport. A gruff and rough man, he is nonetheless straightforward and direct, which even as a southern lord I can appreciate. A stout leader and knight, he is a man worth following into combat.

Relationship Note on Niccolo
Where would I be without House Velenosa and Archduke Niccolo? Well, on the road as a Knight of Solace but I don't hold it against my liege or his family. The Archduke taught me to fight as a child and House Gilden remains a loyal and staunch ally and vassal of House Velenosa. We are a small family with few holdings but Archduke Niccolo has shown nothing but respect and so as ever he and House Velenosa will retain my respect and affection.
