Relationship Note on Paige

During the Assembly of Peers I considered bringing up the most recent death in the lowers. It is hard for me to accept that the Iron Guard needs no help when Countess Stahlben makes the third northern born or northern placed noble to die in the alleyways. Suffice to say those who seek trouble often find it and she was always one to seek trouble or make her own.

Shame.

Relationship Note on Paige

I am saddened to hear of the death of Countess Paige. She was an engaging young woman and she will be missed.

Relationship Note on Paige

On occasion, some spry young man or woman will bound into the shop hoping to commission a weapon, generally on the recommendation of people far too generous with their words about my craftsmanship. When then-Huntsman Paige did so what does not seem that long ago, she was so full of promise and life as well as a kindness that was quite genuine. Her enthusiasm was hard not to get caught up in and the title of Countess only seemed to further her desires to do well for the Compact. I made her two weapons and my heart swelled such joy and pride when I later met her husband, Count Magnus, who told me how much she loved those pieces. I have them now and that same heart breaks a little when I look upon them.

I want this to be very clear: Forgiveness is only afforded to those who are actually sorry. If you come for my friends, I will never forget it.

The most beautiful orchid of them all. I will see you again, flower, and remember more of it.

Relationship Note on Paige

I didn't personally know the Countess Paige, but her death in the midst of Arx is greatly disturbing. I do not have an eye for investigation, though increasingly, I wish it were otherwise, so I could assist those who have not found justice.

The Countess had an inquisitive mind; she was a good student. I thought her hedgehog was an oddly-shaped dog, once.

I knew her only very little. She bore a kindness to a friend at his lowest. That one small gesture spoke of so many more. We are poorer for her return to the Wheel, but I take comfort that the future will know her like again.

Good gods, people.

I am sure Countess Paige was nice and all but nobles need to stop coming down to the Lowers chasing things and dying.

Be smart. Come for Darts and Drinking night (sponsored by Murder of Crows, Arx's oldest drinking establishment!) but otherwise stay out!

It's more living for you. Less Inquisitors and Iron Guard for us.

Everyone wins.

Countess Paige's passing is awful unfortunate to hear. I don't meet many good conversationalists in late night bar crawls, especially not ones that have weird animals either. I'm going to regret not taking the opportunity to know her better.

Relationship Note on Paige

The Countess of Bonespire came by the shop with an offer of cookies and conversation, which I could hardly have passed up despite a few projects keeping me busy and other distractions. I too often forget the pleasantness of just talking about the small things along with the big things. Family, hopes, the future. Plus it gives me a chance to offer what I call my favorite Life Lesson quotes. I should throw them into a book sometime. Anyhow! My sincerest thanks to Countess Paige for drawing me away from the forge for a bit to remind me again of the life going on outside it.

Oh I can only imagine how magnificent of a weapon it is. Dame Ida made my spear and she made me something that was amazingly balanced to works from the saddle or boots to ground. That was wickedly sharp and powerful, and atop all of these virtues is also a piece of art. I look forward to seeing you brandish the one she made you!

Oh and another virtue of spears! You can hunt delicious, delicious boar with one! I do not recommend attempting to do so with either sword or axe.

Relationship Note on Paige

Ohhh, what to say about my cousin?

So many comment on her beauty, or her toughness of body...Gods, so many comment on her body that it makes me want to tear my hair out. I am so happy she is old enough to handle her own issues in that arena, even if her perspective could use some work...

No, what I remember is her spirit. Oh, now /that/ is her best feature, her defining attribute. It is a burning flame that cannot be contained by hearth and home, and that has been the case since my first memories of her, declaring her ambitions to her father and mine. To leave home, to join the Militia, and to become a Huntsman. To range the wilds, bringing justice to those who knew none. To be wild and free, but still in service to a higher cause.

Of course, my uncle and my father objected. Sternly. And so I did not see her again while I grew up. I hated her for that, not knowing how hard she tried to speak to us. To visit. How my uncle blocked her efforts out of anger. Part of me hates him for denying that connection while I was growing up, perhaps out of fear I would join her. Joke's on him, right?

But now I see her again, and her fierce flame still burns bright. You can see it, in her speech, in her movements, and in her eyes, if one looks close enough. And in her smile. That little smile that seems like she knows something you don't, and revels not in the advantage, but the joy of keeping one step ahead of her quarry. She is a singularly unique person, and deserves the best because of that.

God help the men of Arx. And Gods have mercy on her prey. Because she won't.
