Relationship Note on Olivia
My young cousin. She's Harlan's younger sister and the one in the family with all the talent with plants. She's so talented, but not an ounce of self-preservation. Harlan has tasked me with keeping her safe as much as I can. It is a duty that is not painful. Though she keeps trying to get me to wear skirts and act more social, she is friendly and sweet.

Relationship Note on Olivia
Cousin Olivia's rather spontaneous birthday celebration was a complete success - if I don't enter into consideration that my personal desire was to find and give her, also, a partner in marriage. That was, of course, the reason for wearing a skirt which, while pretty and comfortable enough, still feels awkward, like I'm pretending to be someone I'm not. I don't think anyone noticed, unless that was the reason for one after another failure.
I doubt it, though. Are men so very intimidated by directness? Again, I'm shocked, finding this already several times to be the case. Olivia is certainly sure I'm the one who scared them off. But, if they're scared by me, how in Gloria's name are they ever going to protect /her/??!
I doubt I'll stop or slow, though I did take a break. But only because I was tired after so many people, after so much noise. After so much talking; I'm sure I talked more in the span of a few hours than I have talked to any in years.
I prefer the woods, and dogs. And horses, honestly; which - thank good Petrichor for at least one blessing - may be possible on account of Legate Bianca's protege, who promises to introduce me to an Oathlander who raises fine, sturdy steeds. Of course, once acquiring one, I'll want to go riding. And riding means a trip to the woods - which I've already promised two friends, so there's that. Perhaps I'll be blessed with a second gift in the form of a stray wolf cub. That would be better than a husband, by my standards, even if not at all useful in finding a mate for me.
Unless, of course, the wolf cub is found to be more charming than I - which is likely to be entirely the case.
May Petrichor bless me with a cub; and Limerance with success in finding a husband for myself, if not also for my cousins.

For friends, one sometimes does the strangest things as favours and one of these recent favours was for the Lady Olivia Ashford.
See, the Lady Olivia recently asked me as well as several others to help her with the distribution and promotion of gourd seeds from a particular plant. The plant was one that the Lady Olivia has worked on the be resistant to some blights that affects others. That was not as thirsty as some and, since she was the expert on such - it seemed right to help.
So the favour had to come in the form of promoting this crop for me. This is where it becomes strange, to travel to Southport, to Ashford and to other parts of Arvum where gourds are regularly seen - and explain this to the good Thralls, Prodigals and common people. Fortunately the crop was adaptable and the pitch was easy at some parts. To boil it down:
Gourd is good, gourd is great. Gourd will feed you, when there you are in a state.
It is an emergency crop ultimately and, in the quest to stave of famines, it will be invaluable for years to come.

Thankfully Lord Jace seemed to make sure she was tended to quickly enough, or so I heard. I admit, I'm secretly proud of her for her courage and bravery. Perhaps I'll join her in on the craziness next year.~

It was good to see cousin Olivia at the Lycean wedding celebrations - as it is good to see any of my cousins. It can feel like there are precious few - most on the Tyde side were killed in the fall of Tyde Hall, and the Ashfords have suffered tragic losses in the past few years. Still. It was a happy affair. And there was wine. And I spoke a little too loudly. But cousin Olivia seemed to have fun bustling around the dance floor.

While the Orangery was a pleasant affair overall, I will make special mention of the wine. While I have been left with worse hangovers following festivities, I had never experienced a hangover on so little wine until today.

Relationship Note on Olivia
My liege's sister and someone who has become a personal friend of mine. She's a beacon of light and joy, and it always warms my heart to see her go about her interests with the diligence and the care she shows for them. As a knight of Ashford, it is among my duties to protect her and her relatives. I find in Lady Olivia and in the Ashfords I know more than a reason to serve, but an inspiration to always strive to become a model knight, as much as I can.

I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the actions of Lady Olivia Ashford. From the moment we arrived in Stormwall she was an asset. She worked hard, and when the battle began, she kept her focus and stayed on task. She was beyond helpful and the success of the healers would have been less without her.
