Relationship Note on Monique
I will never forget the night that she quietly encouraged King Alaric to attempt to steal the silverware at one of the Igniseri dinners. He was quietly sneaking the utensils up her sleeve as she was instructing him. He put them all back of course, but that was the Minx, through and through.
She and I had been friends for a long time. I cherished going to her parties and even got to send some signature wines for an unveiling. We made the sparkling apple cider for her for her wedding. And, I went on a merry chase through the city as we followed clues she and Brother Etienne littered across the city, puzzles for us to solve.
She will be missed. I mourn with House Greenmarch. As does Igniseri.

I cannot say why it was this loss, this death, that drove me to do it, and yet after word reached Heron Hall, I found myself digging through the papers and boxes in my study for the will that I wrote on the eve of Stormwall.
That night was nearly ten years ago now and as I look at these names, I see so many who I have outlived. I see how many friendships are broken. So many people who will never receive that final gift, or those last words of kindness, that I had meant for them.
She would have laughed, I think, to know that I had left her with a task, with a dare even, meant to bring her a sense of triumph and delight.
Though I doubt she meant to, she's left me with a task, too, but there will be no joy it.
I see so much potential lost as I look at these names. So much left undone.

Relationship Note on Monique
It hardly seems possible that Lady Monique Greenmarch is gone from this world. I have so many memories from so many years of comradery, and yet words are failing me now on just what to write. She was a frequent visitor to the shop in my early days in Arx, and that never really waned. Her nickname certainly fit her perfectly, and perhaps there is no better way to truly describe her. She was a minx, with a good heart and daring soul. I will greatly miss seeing her come through the door with a twinkle in her eye, a decided smirk, and a grand idea for a new weapon. My most sincere condolences to House Greenmarch.

We've had some ups and downs in my younger days, but she's one of the futures of the Greenwood Forest, Smart. Minxy. Useful. Counsiny. I'm not sure her mind ever stops. The forest will count on her to lead our people into the world and I'm proud to call her cousin.

I'm almost certain that bottle of whiskey was given out during the first large gathering I ever attended in Arx. That's when I saw the King of the Compact himself badly flub a throw and roof his axe. I don't think I braved the axe tossing competition that day, nor did I mud wrestle or have Khanne paint my face half blue, but I have fond memories anyway.
I don't think I even spoke to anyone, come to think of it. At one point I was even shooed away for having sat where people were waiting for their turn to be painted. It was all a little overwhelming.
Thank you, anyway. The nostalgia can only improve the flavor, right?

Over the years, Lady Monique has trusted me with more commissions than I can probably count on two hands. Important ones, fun ones, and ones that inspire me to go that extra step, from steel to alaricite. She has been as generous of word as she has been of silver, and I am often quite humbled by both. Sometimes I even blush, or so Rigby says. Her continued trust is an honor, and I /almost/ hope her event isn't well-attended so that she might get to keep one or two of the works she asked for. Almost!

Relationship Note on Monique
Second chances! I was very pleased that the Thorn Hunting competition allows for this, as I did quite better at some challenges the second time around. But above that, I got to speaking with the Lady Monique about the very idea, the topic of second chances. How lovely to learn her story, that one can be on the run and yet find home and begin anew, to gain much from Second Chances!
