Relationship Note on Branan
Master Branan has become Brother Branan, a Godsworn, but I enjoy his company just the same as though we were not living each moment under a shadow. He made a fine gift to me of two volumes of his Mirrorguard series, after I commented how I like the stones of the character of dashing Talane. A good adventure is needed, because as he said: fiction teaches us where we can go, what could be possible. A lot of history of late has turned out to be less based in fact. Perhaps if I read about bold characters, I will absorb some of their boldness. Remember though, to go round to the shop again; there are many new friends on his shelves waiting to be discovered. Sirikit the Crownbreaker, and Orlando, next, I think.

He is a curious man, and I quite like him. He knows a lot, is wiser than most I know, and has served to teach me more in one conversation than I learned in most of my career.

Relationship Note on Branan
The first time I met this man was when he was tending the flowers and other memorials at the bridge to remember the late Archduchess Esera Velenosa. He is very respectable and well-spoken, and I quite enjoyed my talk with him, as short as it was.
And then I met him again somewhere inbetween the Stacks of the Great Archive. He was just as pleasant as last time, but to disappoint any gutterbrains looking for scandal: there is none of that. Rather, he took the initiative of showering me in curious comments regarding historical footnotes, and finally showing me number of things after I displayed my inept bumbling about inside the stacks. Thanks to him I truly learned a great many things. Things no doubt Lailah could have told me had she been there; perhaps I'll drag her along to watch me making a fool of myself in the future. (Or maybe I'll just let her do all of it. That seems a far better use of everybodies time.)
Meanwhile, I'm waiting for a small token of my appreciation to be crafted so that I can adequately thank the man. One should not forget about the simple etiquette of appreciating those who help one out, after all. I suspect he will enjoy it, but I'll know for sure when I get to hand it to him personally.

Relationship Note on Branan
I met this scholar outside of the Velanosa estate, shortly after Niccolo had put the heads of the traitorous Iron Guardsmen on pikes. What ensued was a fascinating debate on the nature of death, art, and religion. Though I do not share his beliefs, I am curious about his mind, and look forward to speaking with him more.

The Lycene Poet I have met a few times, mostly during his visits to the Grotto (which he seems to do quite regularly). He certainly has a way with words, but it is his colourful imagination that has impressed me the most. Even if being a scribe appears to be his calling, his painted art is lovely also.

This man was bold enough to ask for a job, and because I favor bold men, I gave him one. He is a man of Lenosia, and a poet. But no man of Lenosia is ever just one thing -- no man is ever /just/ a poet. I wonder what else he is, when his mask falls aways? I wonder what he dreams, when there's no one there to see him dreaming?

Poetry among the Courtesans of the Whisper House is an every day occurrence. Be it from the pens of my cousins of the House or from the messages of those besotted with them, it has become a banal and gregarious game we play. Today, however... Today I saw the birth of poetry through the eyes of a babe, new born and squalling an for the first time in far too long of a time, I was inspired. It is only rather tragic that it is in the form of a pauper. Ambitions, I've found however, are often eagerly and blatantly rewarded within our realm and society. An eye will be kept upon this one - and perhaps together we may inspire each other to artwork unbound.
