He was a complicated man, and conflicted, as most people are. Though he broke his oaths to House Darkwater, in the end, he came to me and sought redemption, though he did not survive long after. Alrec Magaldi died with a penitent heart.

Let us celebrate the life of Alrec Magaldi by celebrating his greatest accomplishments.
At the age of 10 he learned his alphabet, mostly.
At the age of 15 he raised a prize chicken for the Darkwater fair.
At the age of 19 he distinguished himself fighting for House Thrax in the Tyde rebellion.
At age 20 found his look and stuck with that unfortunate beard for the rest of his life.
In his mid twenties or something he abandoned his oaths to House Darkwater, betrayed and mass murdered his own men because he decided he'd rather work for Setarco since it's got nice weather or whatever and became a hireling for House Pravus.
At the age of 32 he won a stew-eating contest at the Murder of Crows.
Wow. What a storied life! Admiral Alrec Magaldi, the something-something of Setarco, folks!

I make no secret that I never liked Admiral Alrec Magaldi. He was an obnoxious, overly-eager man who lived entirely on the philosophy of asking for forgiveness instead of permission. Or, if I am frank, mostly on doing what he felt best regardless of the opinions of others. But whatever my opinion of Alrec was, he served Pravus and Pravus takes care of its own.
Today we have the murderers of Alrec Magaldi in custody and justice will be served.

I may not have agreed with the choices that Admiral Alrec made in his life, but I will say that he was a formidable swordsman and an outstanding seafarer. Hopefully that will be remembered as well.

At your worst, you deserved this; I don't believe anyone I know thought very highly of you, to put it mildly -- and good Gods man, you were adrift at sea and drowning fast, and you almost seemed to prefer it that way. This was somewhat inevitable.
Still, you were always kind to me, and tried to help me get a leg up in your self-serving way, and I'll remember it.
I'll pour out a little grog on the docks for you, Admiral.

Shame you died. I guess you were wrong when you promised to break my heart. It's just as well, I was disillusioned once I realized that you were not who I'd hoped. Still, you died before you could prove useful to me. And for that, I am sorry.
