I in no way encourage or endorse the sending of messangers to Archscholar Sina, asking her about rumors of a teahouse on academy grounds, nor do I recommend suggesting your favorite flavours of tea to her. I will not recommend that you ask how to donate towards this allegedy amazing idea.

However, I am reminded that Skald encourages us to be free in our choices, so you could just do it anyway, I can't stop you.

I have finally had a change to speak to Archlector Sina about taking my scholars vows and moving up the ranks to being an actual scholar. We agreed on a private ceremony sometime in the coming week. I don't see the need to make a big deal about what is an oath between me and Vellichor, I had one of those when I became a Godsworn, and I don't need another.
I also spoke to her about my senior scholar project, and we agreed that I could look into the Crusade of Shattered Mirrors. We don't know a lot about that time, and with the Thirteenth now being a member of the pantheon, it is a lot less contraversial than it used to be.
Finally, I suggested the opening of a teashop in the academy, the working title is "A Cup of Teaology". Teaology is the kind of priestly duties I enjoy the most. Sitting down with people over a cup of tea and talkin about them and the gods. I get tea, and I seem much less imposing. Plus, I get to sit down, so its always nice. Archscholar Sina said that she would look into finances to see if such a thing was viable. I've offered what little resources I have towards the cost, and offered to drum up support, but I truly do not know how much it will cost to build. I should start gathering donations...

Relationship Note on Seth

I never thought you were a bright lad, but I never thought you meant ill will towards anyone.

I still remember you offering to assist my Redwoods with war hounds, I had meant to follow up on that offer before you left town. A pity now, it'd be a thing if I gotten the last of their kind. But whatever you did and the burdens you beat yourself up by carrying, lad. You didn't deserve what happened to you and your family.

I hope when they track down the bastards that did this to your family they have the same mind as me. They don't deserve to go quickly. That would be all too easy. You deserve that much in retribution at least.

I have participated in the Snow Run. I placed 4th overall. I am told for a land based warrior that it is very impressive. I still feel I could do better.

One thing, Journal, before I go seek out whatever's going on today -- I was at a tea house in Arx the other day, surrounded by royalty, when the news of Highhill being sacked came through. I believe Lord Braden was there to first receive word, and Sir Jeffeth, Princess Marisol, Princess Reese...? It was grim, I can't lie. It put to light for me something that I knew, but didn't KNOW, if that makes sense, my Journal: these people have not lived lives like mine. In the pirates, ships got sacked. You would hear about it, pour a drink in their name (or utter a particularly vile curse on them), and move on, learning from their failure to avoid getting sacked yourself. I figure it's the same way for career soldiers -- other soldiers die! But for nobles, to find out about other nobles' death... no, MASSACRE... These noble families build everything they know about themselves on the idea that their families will continue forever. To hear of another family so completely snuffed out is to remind them that history will continue on without them, if it so chooses. I found my heart going out to them, but I couldn't find the words to try and soothe them.

You know, Aureth's silver hair looks quite lovely. It's annoying, how it's gone from old, worn, warm gold to this wintry shade of electrum. I'm quite enamored with his, mind you, but... stark bright white like moonlit lines on black shadow? Too abrupt, too jarring. No gray, it's just ... stark, blazing white. My mother though, as I recall, went silver very quickly after father died. In fact, when she took the boat back to the islands, her hair was completely white and straight, like aeterna.

Ah well. Time comes for ['us all' has been scratched out, to be replaced with] most of us.

I am very pleased with the work that we have done in conjunction with the Faith and Whisper House, in bringing peace back to the lands of Threerivers and Bellerive. I especially thank Countess Tresa for her willingness to help ensure a lasting peace for years to come. We will continue to nurture our relations and strengthen our resolve, and strive to ensure the best for House Acheron, its vassals, and the Compact as a whole. Thank you as well to Mother Ailith, Sir Jeffeth, Sister Estelle, and Whisper House for making this possible and treating our people with dignity and respect. It will be remembered. The work is not done yet, however. We must remain vigilant, lest tragedy strike again.

The Knights of Solace owe the Crimson Blades and the Champagne family a debt of gratitude. While the Faith Militant and mercenaries have not always been in agreement, they were there when we needed them and they may expect the same from us.

Relationship Note on Galen

I find the untraditional methods tend to be more memorable.

People may gripe about them or laugh, but at the end of the day the students remember the lessons more clearly. They stand out for having been the unexpected, and that extra time spent thinking about what they did inevitably brings more focus and understanding to how they did it.

People could just take me at my word for that, but I suspect the number of master swordsmen in Arx who get a distant haunted look when you bring up potatoes rather says it all.

The strength and multitude of our enemy is only becoming clear as things settle. Yes, many things are being set right now, but we see how our enemies use the Great Road as an opportunity. They found us exposed, extended. And they struck.

And we were not ready.

For decades we have allowed ourselves the luxury of thinking that other problems were more important, there was time to play the silly games of titles and squabbling over the small portions of lands we have tamed. For decades we thought debate was a substitute for preparation. And we were found wanting. Acts of great skill and thought from many have stabilised us, but the cost will be measured in bodies piled high, in silver lost, in time wasted, in faith shaken.

The Siege was a warning. Stormwall a wake up. The Lodge an alarm. Now we must finally listen. The solution will not be found in force of arms alone, but force of arms may buy us the time and the opportunity. The solution may not be found in Orthodoxy alone, yet Orthodoxy grants us the stability we need. I know many houses are doing their part, I know the Faith awakes. So we must all do our part to join them. The Fortresses that guarded our people hundreds of years ago will be rebuilt, and iron and steel will turn to blades in our forges, and the Templars will bring in new blood so we can stand with all the faithful.

The reports are starting to come in of our work in regard to the Great Road - the vast majority of things seem to be leaning toward the positive, and yet, I cannot help but wonder about all the things I am not seeing. Still, with each conflict that manages to be resolved, we can each take a breath, take a step back, and redouble our efforts where they are needed. What I am convinced of, more than ever, is that no set of tools should be without variation.

We have a very solid crop of Apprentices coming up through the ranks right now, all at different points in their training and their accomplishments - and yet, whenever I hear about anything, it is all extremely positive. Soon, each of them will shine as brightly as any of the rest of the House, and we will all be the brighter for it. It has been a delight to give them this opportunity and see each of them seize it. I could not be prouder of their work.

Making liquor is an art, an art I have been working on. Recently finishing my first full batch of Serpents Tide Rum, named after my ship and spiced with sorrel in honor of my wife, has been a very rewarding process. I encourage everyone to try it at least once. There is a sense of satisfaction in the production of such a thing, and when your friends like it is even better.
