Relationship Note on Sorrel

I am delighted that Prince Kyrios Thrax has been welcomed to the world as part of the family of some of my very favorite people. Such a beautiful blue-eyed baby. I look forward to the trouble our royal sons will get into together in years to come.

Relationship Note on Antonio

No, Princess Alarissa Thrax was a Valardin at the time those arrangements took place, and the arrangement between the Mourning Isles and the Oathlands was so celebrated.

This is the first success we have had at negotiating such a treaty in years. To be celebrated! Likewise! Huzzah!

Ever since Queen Genevieve died, House Grayson and House Thrax have puttered around the edges of matchmaking. Princess Dawn nearly married Lord Victus, and then Princess Natalia very nearly married Prince Dagon, and then after that fell apart due to reasons, Princess Lark _very nearly_ married Prince Valerius. One by one, each of these matches has fallen apart. We strive for peace, prosperity, honor, and dignity, and at times, it seems life and trouble defeat us at every turn.

But we persevere!

So now we come to the treaty arrangements that we look forward to now. I look with fondness upon the announcements published by High Lord Victus this week, for they are the culmination of the intention and labor of several parties. House Thrax and House Grayson shall continue as friends and allies, I have elicited a solemn promise that High Lord Victus shall dance with me at the wedding of the decade, and I should very much like to thank the Whisper House for serving in their capacity as advisors and diplomatists, and my deep-felt thanks to Duchess Margot Tyde, who aided us in wisdom during the finalizing

And, of course, Legate Orazio for the Faith of the Pantheon, without whom none of this could be possible.

I know Arx will look forward, as I do, to the grandest wedding celebrations in living memory. Hold onto your hats, folks . . . It’s going to be epic.

Relationship Note on Sabella

I am not a party to your private joke with this gentleman, but I would like to whole heartedly sponsor your choice not to be publicly ill for no good reason.

I personally have always preferred the kind of fun one remembers the next day.

Recreational vomit is one of those things, like electively getting punched in the face, that seems to me far more unpleasant than any temporary reward they might offer.

A bard in the shadows, bright note in the dark,
Clever as a raven, voice sweet as a lark,
He might as well be invisible
and from his lute, indivisible:
But where does he go ... question mark?

And is his thirst for new instruments unquenchable? Honestly.

The Inquisition is not appointed for trial by combat as that would make neither legal nor practical sense. The Inquisition is mildly entertained by the Chief Justice's quest to expand her jurisdiction over us but if she does it again the Inquisition may have to challenge her to the most boring and pedantic honor duel of all time.

I would be honored by the trust that Laric has placed in me by asking Gareth and I to serve as High Inquisitor in the absence of himself and Alistair, but I am personally certain that he did it specifically in vengeance for some undisclosed sin of mine.

His Majesty's Inquisition stands ready to serve. We will hunt down the enemies of the Crown no matter who stands at the helm.

Who knows? Perhaps if we manage to be efficient in his absence, Laric will, in future, leave his office for longer than 18 minute intervals (I've timed him, it's how long it takes him to go to the bank and return).

Considering that Lady Eirene has spent _literal_ years shitting on other people's duels as much as possible, in every possible venue where the discussion might come up, the Salon must really be congratulated at being so masterfully obnoxious.

Truly, I doff my cap.

Sir Corban is, indeed, an oathbreaker, and must do penance before Limerance and the Faith. Here is my defense of him. I have considered myself his friend, and he broke an oath, breached duty and fealty, did wrong and owes penance.

I will reiterate, however, that Sir Corban abandoned no children. Further, the serious oath that Sir Corban took was an oath -- in part -- to _never wed again_. He is also no longer a Lord of the Peerage, because the Knights of the King's Own do not avail themselves of those privileges.

Meanwhile, Lady Vanora is leaping into another marital oath shortly after breaking a marital oath with a husband with whom she had a child, and is marrying into the house that was her liege house when she was the consort of Stormward.

These are not distinctions without difference. One of these people is more flagrant in their profligacy than the other and has earned more public opprobium thereby.

I am disappointed that there are Disciples of the Faith who are so publicly permissive about oathbreaking.

What in the world does the sex of the oathbreaker have to do with anything? Of all the irrelevancies to focus on, this one is the most nonsensical.

One may forgive Lady Monique and, now, Sir Corban, far more easily for a number of reasons, not least of which being that when they split, nobody abandoned any children.

But of course anyone and all must be held accountable for oathbreaking. If that was not part of what you thought about when you broke your oaths, what world did you live in? Surely not the world of Arvum.

Yesterday I did have the honor of meeting Lord Niklas Kennex, though I am sad to report that it was shortly after he had had the snot beaten out of him by someone.

As a performer myself I am very concerned about the direction critics are choosing to take towards the theater these days.

House Grayson officially authorizes this coming Monday as a gift-giving holiday for all. Give a gift to someone whom you love. Or someone you like cordially. Or someone you vaguely tolerate but still feel inclined to give something. Or anyone you think it would be funny to give a gift to.

By my hand this 2nd day of the 8th month of 1008 AR.
