Relationship Note on Monique
This is just one man's opinion but I feel like the Gods do not 'choose' anyone. They embody the ideals we need to live up to, and the guide us to what is the just and holy way to live. I think any that seem to have specific favor of the Pantheon have been entrusted with delivering a message, or completing a specific task, or in someway to help guide us back to their path. As long as we stay to their path I believe the Gods love us in equal measure, and that those they have entrusted with some task or message or mission is an extension of their affection for us all, not for just their messenger.

Oh gods, what a generous benefactor! When I have coin enough I shall have to remember her example and emulate it. What joy fills my heart every time I look at her kind gift, I only hope I can provide the same for others.

To say this is not at all whom I expected would be a gross understatement.
Lady Monique is, it turns out, very proper and oriented on her work and studies. Where I thought the well was deep with intrigue, it is rather the opposite. On face value she seems to be clever and tricky, but deeper down she is candid and straight forward. Her pursuits consume her more than her machinations.
I will not deny that I find this a touch disappointing, even though I will do what I can to aide her in those studies she is fond of.
Will her history be a mere footnote in how she is remembered?
She never did show me those wanted posters.

An ill advised rivalry.
I thought it might be fun to toy with a random stranger, but as it turns out, she really studies her heraldry, better than I do at least. Now she knows I have a weakness for avoiding lectures and has already demonstrated the intelligence to use it against me. Clearly this will not do. Luckily she is willing to give me outs through competing her, at first on the gauntlet. Now I had never run the course and thought I did perfectly well, but was dismayed to learn my time was 'disqualified'. Cheaters. Especially that Lady Joslyn who was just trying to protect her own time.
Clearly I have to find a way to do better at this gauntlet, but Lady Monique is a different beast entirely. She has her own collection of wanted posters! How exotic. I dare say her adventures shall be difficult to top unless I improve as it were. Luckily there should be more chances in the field soon.
I wonder how we might compete next.

For the most part I'll admit I think I have fun, it's just that my fun is not other peoples' fun, and so there we remain at an impasse. Nonetheless, I never go out of my way to avoid fun.

Relationship Note on Monique
After the Gala at the Valardin manor, I wrote about how proud I was to see Princess Alarissa as the shining hostess. In doing so I hurt the feelings of someone else that put in so much hard work and time into planing that Gala.
That was never my intention, and I would hope that Lady Monique Greenmarch knows how much I appreciate her contributions, to making it a fine night enjoyed by all. I am sorry if my praise of Princess Alarissa made you think I am not thankful for what you have done.

I think the party went brilliantly. Having a bit of spring brought during a time of winter was quite inspired. I love the lantern party favors. Overall my sister, Monique, and Princess Alarissa should be proud of their accomplishment.

The Minx of the Marshes, I do believe she is likely a close comparison to how I was in my younger days, just a female version. I also believe that she is a bad influence for a man who wishes to do right by his family and be a good nobleman, she still allows her feral wild-side. Will be interesting to see what comes of that friendship.
