The Shrine of Petrichor has been busy these weeks.

Legate Orazio wished to discuss the help the Lodge has offered, and we spoke within the Shrine. It was a joy to have my achievements, no matters how small in comparison to the city as a whole, be noted.

Prince Aiden wished to discuss the animals of the Menagerie. I reminded him of the previous escapes, and that those that remain are there by choice. I told him of my meetings with the folk there. He was pleased.

Lady Carita Darkwater visited. We discussed her interest in botanical gardens, and it seems my help, however reluctantly promised, will be required. So be it. She seems a fine lady, and quite different to the former head of that house.

Petal Penrose visited, and I reassured her as to her store's validity. It was not hard; I was wearing the attire she'd made for me in return for my advice and tuition on keeping her gardens.

The damage to the Grey Forest is being repaired.

There are many things I must say, but I am pleased, first and foremost, I can say that. The Lodge of Petrichor played it's part, and we assisted in recovering the damage done by the Bringer's March, and saving much of Greyson's lands, to refute famine and misery. It feels good, to know that, in my own way, I helped with this.

I've not had thanks from the family as yet, but I am sure it will come. Another issue, of the new treaty with the Nox, has surely overtaken it in their minds.

Relationship Note on Olivia

Lady Olivia has been working hard for her house on working to fix the problems of the Forest. We've discussed several times and found much that we might keep in common; I'm ensuring to pass on to her what I know about agriculture.

I rode to the Forest with Princess Reese and a number of other friends of Grayson, at the request of the Legate of the Sentinel. I've never been hunted myself before.

More importantly, the soil appears desiccated, but it can be repaired. There's good soil inches underground; as I told people, hard work will fix it.

Lady Juliet Fidante died. It was horrific.

I've not heard all the rumors. I've not sought them out. I've not questioned those I know will have answers for me. I can't bring myself to. Every sliver of news had me retching and losing my lunch, which is near as shards blasphemy against Petrichor.

Gods, I feel alone. Those I came to Arx to help are dead. Baron Eos has moved behind the Reflection, now joined by Lady Fidante. It felt good to have those in the nobility I knew would support my goals, raise their voices in defence of me at need. The Regent, Dawn, has gone who-knows-where.

I have done what I came here to do. I trained the animals of Saik, and I'm no longer sought out for such; they're content with what they have. I have ended the Bringer threat of the Saiklands, and even taken part in that directly. I can't even busy myself in my work; the Grey Forest has been denied to us once more, over two deaths. Two. Tragic, surely, but still. It's the Crownsworn I worry for, who will be breaking the law to hunt and gather in the forest, after their lands were blighted by the Bringer's March.

Lady Olivia and Lady Khanne have both been of great help in my work to look into the forest and the damage caused by Brand's lingering there. I spoke with Lady Olivia for some time, tutoring her in the practices of agriculture, and I was pleased to find out she has a natural talent for the field. I hope to nurture this; it is good to find others with respect and ties to the land amongst the Compact

I've never seen anyone wield shovels as incompetently as those who turned out to plant saplings to give thanks for the war's end and to remember what occurred, and look forward to the future.

It was a joy to watch various nobles try to understand a mechanism quite different to a blade, and to interact with the land. They took instruction fairly well, though Archlector Aureth still found the idea of creating a hole difficult to grasp. The event was quite a success, though one of the nobility felt so inspired by events she gave birth.

I trust this is not a common occurrence at religious festivals.

My attention was drawn to the new sellsword group of Isle Canines, led by Prince Dominic of Thrax. As surprising as it is to see a Prince of a Great House leading a group of mercenaries, while of course claiming that they are not guards of his own House and so presumably should not be counted as men at arms (a policy which, I am sure, will be challenged in short order and will make the work of the Lodge in training watchdogs and the like far more difficult and unprofitable, as the nobility withdraw their interests in owning such), I do think that his customers should consider the following.

A dog will always work for those who have trained it, and you will never know what additional orders it has been trained to obey.

I've been watching the celebrations and knightings and honorings of those who fought in the war with a faintly bitter amusement. I'm unsurprised, in truth, but still might hope. The Lyceum has its own priorities, and we are not a nation to praise others, over ourselves.

Since the resurgence of texts from the Forest Lord, I've been intending to dig into them, to find more and read and to learn more of his ways. Instead, though, I've found myself busy; assisting organising hunts, prayer meetings, and the Gray Forest takes up increasing amounts of my time. Brier is always tired, poor girl, and Lindsey has been falling asleep on the table as she read one of the reports to summarise for me.

I'm tired. I have much to do, still, and my work with the Ministry of Agriculture is important.

The Dominus and I discussed the role of the Lodge. It was pleasing, really, to be taken seriously, to discuss and consider how best I might assist the city and the Faith together. No firm conclusion was reached, though the question of my swearing to the Faith was raised again. I don't know, as yet, if I should; yes, several nobles seem to manage quite well serving both house and church; but their duties are distinctly different.

Hana and I rode to the Saiklands to visit my family. Da's leg is still giving him trouble; I showed him again how to use the feverdew infusion on his dressings to bring the worst out - and we found some old family relics, though nothing as worrying as I'd hoped. It was good to see how everyone was; that they've weathered the storm.

Sometimes, it's good to see things do not change.

After the past months, it felt strange to ride through the city, Brier without her armor and me without mine. The Crimson Seed slumbering, unstrung and not constantly at hand, my spear hung on the walls again. The sun felt good on my cheeks, and the new dress fit fine and well. I delivered messages, I observed the destruction of the walls and the countless lives we lost.

We will count them. I know it, as I've come to know Arx. We count the price of everything, even our victories.

This was no worthless victory. We saved ourselves, dragged ourselves from the darkness and used everything we knew to stand against the Silence. We won our own lives. I feel proud to have represented those not noble in the fight against Brand; this victory belonged to all, not only to the entitled and knights under arms. Everyone in Arx fought, in some way. I pray I will never know every tale of hardship and the thousand struggles that brought us here, for my heart would break. Indeed, I still feel as though it would, after the strain of the battle.

It will not. We will heal. We will recover. There is more to do, and I know I will do what I can in this. For now, though, I'm content to feel the spring sun on my face, to be Leola once more. One day, I can spare. Tomorrow, we begin again.

Brand is dead. The Herald of Silence has fallen.
We all lived. All five of us.

I'm exhausted. I'll write more in the morning.

To Lagoma, I say; Whatever happens, by standing for you, I hope the sun rises tomorrow brighter than today
To Mangata, I say; you gave me my life. I owe you nothing less.
To Petrichor, I say; this world was given to all of us. I fight for those who cannot.

To my family; I wish you well. I love you.
To my lords; I stand as would any soldier you have called to your service, and ask nothing more.
To Arvum, I say only this. You deserved better.

If I open this again, I will have lived.

I went to assist House Valardin recover another Bringer corpse.

Her Highness Princess Alis and Lords Ansel and Percephon led the efforts, and to assist Her Highness Princess Sophie, I agreed to lend my eyes and bow. The bringer was more brittle, though stronger, than the others I'd fought. More intelligent, in some ways; it darted through houses, tore through walls, and nearly killed Lord Percephon; I was happily in a position to save him.

All three acquitted themselves finely and fairly. I was proud to be of what little help I was.

Relationship Note on Armel

I met Knight-Commander Armel of the Knights of Solace today. We were on the walls; Aletta and I were keeping watch as the Shav brought their offer of truce and requesting our surrender in. We discussed the siege, and the likely results. When he learned who I was, and knowing my role, I swear there was a look of pity in his eyes.

I understand that. I wish I didn't. I do.

He was kind enough to offer advice, and polite enough to listen to my own rather unschooled thoughts on war. Perhaps when this is over, we might talk again. He seems the sort who has many strong allies, but few he feels comfortable calling friend.

I was pleased to note that Lord and Lady Greenmarch are more than skilled, as one would expect of Champions and warrior nobility, as Bringers sought to ambush us. My voice rang out, and Brier showed her mettle, Joslyn was skilled; and I must remember to write to Lord Fiachra and thank him for his archery lessons, which less than a day later proved so important and vital.

After her Radiance advertised for the romance series, I went immediately to ensure an order was placed so that my patron, Lady Juliet Fidante, would be assured of a copy. The silver does not concern me; she's pledged more than enough to me for my support of late; and I'm fairly sure it would be returned anyway if I asked for it.

Lady Juliet Fidante, should you read this; I sincerely hope you enjoy the tales, and find them to your taste.

Relationship Note on Roran

I met with the Archlector of Lagoma. I was pleased to speak with them, and hope to learn more of the special role the Lady of Change can bring; and learn of the fires which burn and alter us all.
