I'm happy to announce that this season's free summer plays in Nightingale Park for the children of the Lowers is cast and ready to be performed! I cannot wait to see who we can inspire this year and look forward to all the future mummers and bards and playwrights to get their first real taste of the theater!

And the food and drinks that will be provided of course!

If anyone would like to be involved there is scant time left to do so!

The Bard's College anniversary party was simply amazing! Master Evaristo was so clever in pulling together a game that was both creative and also had people working together even if they had never met before that very moment! It was inspiring to see how many different ideas came out of that one prompt! Our team did not win, but I feel like we rather did since I pulled the Nightingale up onto the stage and she sang more beautifully than I have ever heard her--or anyone!--sing before!

Simply amazing!

I had the honor of participating in the wonderful event hosted by the Crafters Guild where we served food to the hungry of Arx and it was a fantastically organized affair with soup and bread and fruit and I think everyone left with a full stomach and some leftovers. I brought some little butters that had been pressed into the shape of gryphons to be given away with the rolls--and people had their choice of white or wheat--and it seemed like everyone was in good spirits despite the ordeals we're all facing, which speaks to how well Guildmaster Apollo and Brother Felix had everyone together.

I truly hope that this whirlpool situation can be solved quickly so that the hardships faced by so many aren't increased tenfold. The poor, especially the children, struggle so much as it is. We must do what we can now and after the crisis has passed to make sure that we ease that burden as much as we can.

Congratulations to Countess Carita and the new Count-consort Evander Darkwater!

The wedding was BEAUTIFUL and I cannot wait to see what wonderful works they do together!

I don't think it's any secret that my husband and I love each other dearly, but as Princess Tikva writes, we never, ever, EVER would have been able to be married if there wasn't some benefit to each house no matter how much I dug my heels in and insisted. Now, I was very stubborn and adamant about it, but my pitch was less about how much my heart yearned to be with him and more about how I knew, absolutely knew that he would be a boon to Grayson. At the time he was not known as much of anything except Marquis Ford's younger brother, but I knew that he was going to be hugely successful. That his skillset was something that Grayson desperately needed and would ultimately benefit greatly from.

And now he's the Minister of Coin for Grayson and wildly acclaimed as The Playwright, surely to be spoken of hundreds of years from now for his great contributions to theater and he has proven himself to be more than useful to our House.

But more importantly, my marriage proved that in the end I am an excellent judge of character and everyone should listen to me always at all times!

This past week has been a whirlwind of activity, friends old and new, eating way too much, drinking way too much, and having so much fun I cannot wait until next year! A Taste of Arx 1013 has concluded for another year and I cannot be happier with how it all went! I need to give special thanks to Princess Jaenelle, Princess Elgana, Duke Cristoph, and Countess Carita who each coordinated with the vassal houses in their fealty to put together some amazing nights of fun and games for those that wandered by!

It truly is heartening to see the city come together and learn from one another. As I said at the finale ball: Our world is ever expanding and it is good to know that we can rely on each other, support each other, and be open to understanding our own cultures in order to be a stronger Compact. I am grateful every day that I was sent to Arx, for all the people that I have met along the way, and the ones that I shall meet tomorrow!

Thank you to everyone that came out for the events!

Relationship Note on Niklas

I could just write you a messenger, but I wanted it recorded in as many places as possible just how absolutely amazing you are!

I was so sad to miss the concert at the Bard's College, but I was not feeling very well that evening, but Niklas told me it was extraordinary and now I am incredibly sad that I missed it! It seems like a once in a lifetime experience, although I expect nothing less from Princess Sorrel's concerts! They're always quite amazing!

Hopefully if there is ever a second part I will be able to go to that!

I am getting so excited for A Taste of Arx! I've seen some of the things our vassals are putting together and they are delightful! I've got the prizes all set for the events for the Grayson part and just need to order some pins to give away for the final big party at the palace and then everything will be set! I absolutely cannot wait! It will be so wonderful seeing the city come together for this event for the second time! It's always so amazing to go to the parties in the other wards to see what they have to offer and learn a little bit more about them--and the food is always phenomenal!

I really cannot wait!

I am utterly distraught over the death of Lady Arcadia. Having once been a Grayson vassal I got to know her quite well at family dinners and out and about the ward once I came to Arx. She was so bright and full of life and had a curiosity that put my own to shame! She was always keen on her next adventure and if one didn't present itself she would create it on her own, often to dazzling ends. She was like one of the brightest stars in the sky of Arx that I took for granted would always be there. I find it hard to believe that she's gone and I won't turn a corner to hear her laughter or chatter concerning her latest projects.

Her loss comes on the heels of Sister Juniper, someone who I did not know altogether that well but hoped to had life been less busy for both of us. I often found myself perusing her whites an, finding like-mindedness abounded, writing her letters here and there. I was thrilled to see her hospice idea take hold and flourish. She had so much kindness to give that it does not surprise me at all to hear that she sacrificed herself for the greater good and that her impact sends waves throughout Arvum to this day.

They will be both be keenly missed.

It was so amazing to be a part of Lady Monique's Tournament of Thorns pre-games! I met so many people and heard so many amazing stories some of which absolutely took my breath away! I adored each and every one even those that didn't qualify and I hope to see everyone at the games!

I am thrilled to see the announcements for A Taste of Arx starting to go up! That should give all the Great Houses and their vassals of each fealty enough time to come up with things to show off and distribute the week that it runs! I absolutely cannot wait to see what they come up with this year and admit to buying out most of the Ferron stock of one of the most recent hairpin runs to act as prizes for all the events I'm setting up for Grayson.

It's going to be so glorious!

Grayson family dinner this month was quite wonderful, with lots of faces that hadn't been seen in awhile and a rousing discussion that lasted long into the evening and was incredibly informative! My thanks for those who keep showing up, I always learn something whether it's a small thing I did not realize about a single person or a huge, world-view-shaking new idea that keeps me awake at night wondering about possibilities!

I am so thrilled that all of the Lodges have been well received! Not only that, but the programs on agriculture offered by the Lodge members are second to none and as soon as Dame Leola approached me about the project I knew that it was something I wanted to see happen in Bastion. It should help our vassals and people thrive long into the future and I am so excited to see us already reaping the benefits.

Quite literally!

The Bard's Concert last night was simply amazing! So much talent in one place and so many ancient heroes and tales recited in the most creative ways! The Nightingale and Captain Evaristo ought to be commended for pulling together such a performance! I've been humming a few of the tunes to myself throughout the day and I believe Nik has already taught the children a few verses from his Prince Tyrval song. At least, Relara keeps shouting about whales.

I was shocked to wake up today and hear that Josephine Arcuri had passed! How utterly tragic for those in the world that had never had a piece created by her talented hands! She was always so sweet to my husband and I and even worked with him on a project to surprise me with my dragonweep tiara! I'd just talked to her about a new project she was going to help me with and now she's gone!

I think we ought to all hold out loved ones a little closer today and be thankful for the tiaras we have.

Let me preface this statement by saying that I am fine, but that if someone had told me there would be worms in the dirt at the Lodge of Petrichor planting I might have reconsidering my decision to attend!

What was at first a horrifying encounter with nature turned even more awful when a band of--I don't even know what they were, but they were violent!--Shavs turned up and threatened to kill and-or enslave everyone gathered to displace the worms and plant some flowers. Besides being exceedingly rude it was rather terrifying and despite my demands for them to lay down their weapons--of which a few did!--some arrows still found their mark. I attempted a last intervention to both appeal to their humanity and also to serve as a distraction so that the wounded could be tended to without further injury and ended up being shot with an arrow myself!

Gentle reader, it is not an experience I would recommend! It certainly changed my viewpoint on everything for I went from standing on a bench to laying on my back looking up at the sky. And the pain! It didn't exactly compare to childbirth, which is still the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me that also made me break one of my husband's fingers, but it was certainly an experience I never want to have again and likely will remember two years from now and will choose not to get shot by an arrow again!

I truly hope that Elizabetta knows a way to get blood out of lace! I would hate to have to replace my new dress so soon after debuting it! I don't quite remember how I got home, but I do believe Master Cillian is to be thanked and of course Sir Merek for ensuring that I would get better rather than worse and for everyone that was there that protected those of us that fought only with words. They weren't quite enough this time.

But they surely will be next time!
